Patrolling was always the best in the Autumn and the early Spring. Mostly the Autumn though, with the crunchy leaves. The fact that Lysithea had a cup of steaming cider in her hand didn’t hurt anything, that was for sure, and she walked down the pathway in the woods with a pleased smile on her face, humming softly to herself.
Things were really starting to get better again. Her relationship with Adria was almost as good as it had been when they first became friends, and that was such a burden off of her chest. Ahri was fitting in as well as could be expected, and Evan and Tobias had done a great job of making him feel at home...and she thought Zac might finally be on the verge of proposing. Which...well. That was the best kind of thought.
The sound of a cry made the senshi pause and she frowned slightly, withdrawing her baton from her sash and holding it in the palm of her cider free hand, watching it for a moment as it spun before pointing into some trees.
There was the feeling of two chaos auras, one that felt weaker than the other, but both of them weaker than she was. Quickly, Lysithea set off towards the auras, thinking that it was a lieutenant and a youma causing trouble, but when she saw the dark clothing and long hair of what was obviously a corrupted senshi, with a terrible little half possum, half cactus youma just chewing happily on her leg, Lysithea saw red.
“Seriously? God, you stupid creature, she’s on your side!”
Stomping over, Lysithea drew the youma away from the corrupt and gave two very hard stomps to its head, huffing as it turned to dust.
She turned to look at the corrupt and knelt beside her, looking at her leg with concern. “Are you okay? I can heal this, if you’d like me to.”
...Not that Lysithea could imagine anyone saying no but…
She seemed traumatized enough.

To say that Ilse was having a terrible day was to deeply understate the problem. She was, she was pretty sure, having the worst of all possible days, actually. She'd com out, powered up--mistake number one, obviously--and decided that maybe she would start hunting for people who could help her get the hell out of the Negaverse. That was all she wanted--to be free.
Maybe this little possim-cactus had smelled her traitorous intent, somehow. Maybe it just hated Senshi so utterly brainlessly that it couldn't distinguish. Whatever it was, it had chased her, attacked her, and now it was chewing on her leg, and on of her ankles was swelling up because while she was running, her heel had caught and she'd twisted it going down.
So, Ilse was crying, and flailing, and trying to kick the youma away, and it was all a very pathetic and miserable sight.
And then there was an Order aura, and she felt a surge of panic, and flailed some more, and prayed that this wasn't someone who would kick her while she was very literally down.
But the youma was lured off her and kicked to death, and she blinked at the very pretty Senshi and her offer to heal her.
"....Please?" She said, voice soft. "I...I just...it's been a really rough day."

Lysithea’s expression softened and she nodded, giving the corrupt a gentle smile. “Of course, and I can tell it’s been a rough day. You look exhausted…”
She moved closer to the wounded leg and held her hands over the bite, murmuring. “Lysithea Healing Horn”. As the magic began to close up the bitemarks, fading them to almost non-existence, she hesitated and glanced back at the face of the Corrupt. “I’m Sailor Lysithea...do you want to talk about what’s going on? I mean...I’m a pretty good listener…” She touched the horn to the ankle that was swelling and looked pleased when it began to go down. “I’m sorry that I can’t share my drink with you…” Lysithea paused and then her face lit up. “But I do have some snacks!”
When her magic was spent, she pulled two cake pops out of her subspace pocket, one decorated as a little bat, and the other, a mummy. “You can pick which you want! The bat is supposed to be red velvet, and the mummy is vanilla with some dehydrated strawberries...or at least that’s what they told me at the coffee shop! But they were both so cute I couldn’t pick!” Her smile was warm, and she hoped that she was making the corrupt’s day at least a little better.

Ilse whimpered, and reached up to wipe her cheeks, nodding slowly. She forced a wobbly smile, as the other Senshi went through with her promise to heal her--the pain in her ankle and leg from the bites and the twist began to recede, and she sighed.
"I'm Sailor Ilse," she said, "and its--it's a long story? Like, I don't...want to trauma dump all over you, or anything, just..." She swallowed. "I don't want to be int he Negaverse anymore."
Her shoulders sagged, and she looked really, truly pathetic. "It's awful. I've almost died a bunch. i thought...I mean, i thought it would be nice, and fun? Get to be magical, and have adventures, and things? But I think we're the bad guys, aren't we?"
Still, the cake pop made her perk up.
"Are you sure?" She asked, but she reached for the mummy. "Thank you..."

“If you want to talk about it, I’m here. If not, I’m still here...and if you don’t want to be in the Negaverse anymore, I know someone who can help with that too, Ilse.” Lysithea allowed the corrupt to take the mummy and gleefully bit into the bat, giving a happy sigh. “Oh yeah. This was a very worthy purchase. And now that I’ve shared with you I don’t have to hide them both from my roommates!”
Her eyes remained on Ilse though, and she looked a little thoughtful. “You’re not a bad guy, not by yourself, but the chaos that lives inside you is something that’s corrosive. It’ll change you into someone that you no longer know. I think you’re very brave to want to leave, and I’m proud of you for it. Honestly, most of the people I live with were with the Negaverse and I helped them get out...so...I guess maybe fate wants you to get yourself out of a bad situation too, since it threw us together.”
It all sounded very neat and tidy when Lysithea put it like that, and she wrinkled her nose. “...God I sound like I’m a door to door salesman. Seriously, Illy. No pressure. But I can help.”

Ilse took a bite of the cake pop, and made a very contented little noise as she did. This was, she was pretty sure, the nicest thing that had happened to her since she powered up, besides Thorite helping her with her shoes.
"You know someone who can help?" Ilse perked up immediately. "That--I would really appreciate it if you could bring me to them, or give me their name, or? How does it work?" She asked.
"It's just--my first mission with the Negaverse, we all went down into this awful place called the Rift, and it's full of youma, and everything down there wanted to kill me," Ilse said, and she took another bite of the cake pop to comfort herself. "And I just....I don't want to work with people that command monsters and let their own people die or turn into monsters or..." She shook her head.
"I...maybe it is fate. That I found you, and you can help me."

“I can call her here. Her name is Cosmos, she’s helped me save a lot of people. Mostly officers and youma, but, she can save anyone. She’s pretty great.”
Lysithea wore a smile and reached out to rub the corrupt’s shoulder. “That sounds horrifying. I’m so glad that you didn’t die, that you didn’t turn into a youma, and that you’re strong enough to ask for help! Sometimes that’s the worst part of all of it.” That was a neat idea. It being fate that they had found one another. It made her chest feel warm, but...helping people out of Chaos always brought on that feeling, so she wasn’t quite sure why she was surprised.
“Are you ready now? I can call her...when you’re free, I’ll take you to my place and introduce you to my family! Most of them…” She laughed. “Actually, everyone but me has been purified, so, you’ll be right at home.”
The smile widened into something more excited for a moment, but then dimmed. “Now, I have to warn you...there will be some memory loss...Chaos corrodes that. I’m not sure why, from what I’ve seen, people either forget their lives as a civilian or their lives of when they were in uniform...I wish there was a way to prevent it...God, I hope you forget the horrors of that mission, honestly.”
That would be the best case scenario, but regardless, she had to be warned.

Ilse nodded, firmly. She needed to get outr--she needed to be freed from the Chaos that wanted ot consume her.
She didn't want to be stuck in the darkness anymore.
"Please," she said softly, "call her. I...I think I can bear to lose some memory." She smiled, wryly. "Maybe, if I'm really lucky, you'll be right and I'll forget about all that awfulness down in the Rift."
Could she sacrifice being Rosalie to be free of this awful choice she'd made?
....Ilse supposed she could. After all, she would have a new friend to help her find her way.

Lysithea gave a warm smile, nodding and reached out to take Ilse’s hand, squeezing it lightly. “You’ll be free soon.” Closing her eyes, Lysithea did as she had done many times before, calling out to Cosmos with her heart and her mind, letting her know that there was someone who wished to be free of the curse of Chaos.
Though, unlike so many times before, there was no sudden feeling of warmth and power. There wasn’t the friendly, tired voice of Cosmos asking if Ilse was ready to be free...there wasn’t...well.
There wasn’t anything.
After nearly two minutes of just…waiting, Lysithea opened her eyes, frowning slightly and looking around. “...Cosmos? I have a senshi here who would like to be free of Chaos...if you have a minute, I would greatly appreciate your assistance…”
She spoke loudly, clearly.
“...She doesn’t...normally take this long…”

It was so interesting, watching someone choose to become a traitor. Watching as the pretty one in white seemed to grow more concerned when Cosmos didn’t show up…but. And Lauren couldn’t stop a pleased grin from crossing her face. That didn’t mean that nobody would show up.
It was nearly instantaneous, as Lauren wrapped herself in the mantle of chaos and emerged as General Queen Hessonite and teleported the few feet to land right in between the wayward corrupt and the sickening order brat. “Now, now. What is going on here? I heard you calling, but I suppose it wasn’t me that you were hoping for, now was it?”
She turned her back on the White Moon Senshi, not finding her any sort of a threat and reached a hand out to lightly play with a wayward curl that was ruffling in the breeze. “How silly of you to think we would ever let you leave us. And protocol does say I should simply crush your starseed since you’ve shown yourself to be a traitor, or perhaps, I should make you into a youma as punishment, but.”
Tucking the senshi’s hair behind her ear, she hummed softly and flicked her wrist, sending a youmaglia at the now exposed ear and watching as it made its greedy way into its new home.
“But I know you were tricked, and I’ll give you another chance, isn’t that kind of me?”

Cosmos did not appear.
Instead, there was a bloom of a powerful, terrible aura, and Ilse froze. She barely had time to react, to think, even to breathe, before Hessonite was in front of her, and then the air was stolen from her lungs.
As soon as Hessonite's hand touched her hair, Ilse began to tremble, and tears began to well up in her eyes. She was stupid, so stupid--how had she ever thought that she could get away? What had possessed her to believe that there was an out for her?
Clearly, whoever Cosmos was, she didn't think that Ilse deserved a chance.
"P-please," Ilse whimpered, thought she wasn't sure what she was asking for. For Hessonite not to kill her, maybe. For Lysithea to run, possibly.
The youmaglia slithered its way into her brain, and took hold, and Ilse wobbled, briefly, and her eyes went slightly wide. In that moment, she udnerstood--Cosmos hadn't come because she wasn't special enough. But that didn't matter. Hessonite thought she was worth saving.
And Lysithea had lied to her.
"T-thank you," she told Hessonite, and she leaned into the hand that was still in her hair. "I'm sorry. It was a mistake, I don't know why...."
Why had she ever thought to leave? How stupid of her.

Lysithea’s heart had utterly stopped when she felt the overwhelming aura of the General Sovereign flare up. That wasn’t…that wasn’t Cosmos at all. What…what was going on. Cosmos always came…even when she was tired, when she was overworked and overwhelmed…she always showed up when she was needed. When someone asked her to show up.
Except for tonight. Except for now when Lysithea was going to lose this bright little spark who desperately wanted to shed the darkness which surrounded her…and now who was back in the clutches of that darkness.
“It wasn’t a mistake, Ilse! You’re supposed to be free of this! I…” She swallowed, shrinking back from the redheaded General Queen’s aura, though seemed prepared to attack, if only she knew that the b***h wasn’t going to switch so that Ilse was in the way of the attack…god. This was not…
Again her heart cried out for Cosmos to come…and again there was nothing.
Finally she acted. “Lysithea Untamed Purity!” Just hit the General Queen. Just save Ilse. She could figure the rest out after.

When the senshi sent her magic at Hessonite and her now obedient little corrupt, the General Queen let out a laugh and moved to better protect Ilse from the magic, amused by the struggle that the dark haired girl was putting up. She was a fool not to realize that the game was long over, and she had lost.
No purifications would come today. No members of the Negaverse would be deserting. And now that this one purification had been stopped, she would see to it that this little corrupt was put on the right path and was taught not to question what was best for her. If the teachings were against her will, well. That was the right of those who had more power. It was for the best, and it was what would make her into a better soldier.
Glancing back once more at the rather desperate looking Eternal, Hessonite gave a feral grin and, wrapping an arm around Ilse’s waist, teleported the both of them out of the danger.
She had work to do on this lost one, but. Everything would be put to rights easily enough.

When the two vanished into the night. Lysithea felt as though she had been hit with a crippling, fatal blow. Never before had she…had she lost someone who had been on the brink of being saved. Never before had Cosmos…had Cosmos abandoned her…
She waited for it to be a joke. Waited for Cosmos to come, with the General Queen and Ilse, one in each hand…both purified…but she didn’t. Nobody came.
After a long moment she sank to her knees, staring up at the sky, feeling as though her heart were breaking.
Well.
Well she couldn’t…let anyone else know. They would…this would. Lysithea swallowed hard, and then covered her face in her hands and cried.
