Place: The Foundation - Outside: Front Courtyard Near Main Fountain
At 8:30PM every person in posession of a communication device would hear it chime, notifying them that they had recieved an important message. It was different than the standard beeps, boops or buzzes that any of them might have selected for any other inter-company communications. It somehow managed to convey a sense of importance -- or maybe the sound was honestly just that obnoxious. If ignored it would sound again at 8:35 and then every minute on the minute after that, gaining in volume in the event it was still not paid attention to.
[ NOTIFY ALL PERSONELL: ] YOUR PRESENCE IS REQUIRED AT THE FOUNDATION. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL. THIS IS NOT A TEST.

An unusual signature has been detected. All employees are being summoned to investigate. There is a very real possibility that this may be the break we are looking for. Additional details will follow in person. This is of the utmost importance. Please do not dally and arrive promptly following this missive. We will be assigning additional equipment prior to the start of this task so it is IMPERITIVE that everyone be in attendance.

Kian had been enjoying a bit of peace and quiet in the lab most of the afternoon. It was one of the days where he only had early classes at the University so he'd been able to dedicate a bit more time to the experiments he'd been running for the Foundation. They were going well, not as well as he wanted, but well and he was looking forward to making some extra progress before he headed home for the night. Courtland was dealing with feeding the specimens and Zachary was ... somewhere.
That somewhere made it self apparent when he heard the sound of all three of their communicators going off at once. He winced slightly as he snatched his from where it had been sitting on the desk, silencing the notification before actually opening it to read. He raised a silver eyebrow at the message before pushing himself away from the desk.
"Zachary! Courtland!" His voice was sharp but not cruel as he waited for the other two to poke their heads out of where they'd both been hiding. "The elevator will take a bit to get down here, it will be easier if we all head up together.
----------------
Courtland had been cooing over the strange oddity in the back of the lab when the sound of the communicator going off caused them to jump. They spit out a few choice curses before fumbling it out of a pocket and shutting off the noise. The sound of Kian's voice floated back just as they were skimming the message and Courtland shrugged before sauntering back out into the main part of the laboratory.
"Did they have to make that noise quite that obnoxious? Lord..." Courtland didn't entirely ignore what Kian said but didn't really feel the need to agree. Going along with whatever the silver haired man said generally worked out better so they weren't about to complain.

Being raised in the theatre taught Gently a lot of things, but one of the most important lessons was timeliness. She always held it as absolute truth that if one was early to an event, they were actually on time. If they just passed as 'on time', they were really just late, and if a person was actually late to something that required their presence? That was just unforgivable. In her world, it meant either losing a role or, in her journalistic pursuits, missing a scoop or a deadline.
It was unacceptable.
So, Gently arrived at 8:45, having been near the area anyway, and set herself a nice spot near the fountain to wait. She had been on many stakeouts, but her patience was limited when she was excited. This was clearly so much more than just waiting to see if she could sneak an interview with someone when they were on their break, or whatever other kind of drivel she had to wait on while investigating. This was exciting.
Plus she was sort of tired of her comm beeping at her, and was hoping being there would silence it officially. She was grinning ear to ear, holding her comm in her hand and trying not to pace TOO much as she waited.

"Sweet Mother of..." Imara nearly jumped out of her skin as the unexpected noise from the normally quiet device beside her sounded off. She almost spilled her drink on her laptop thanks to being mid-sip with that thing went off. "Whoever programmed that setting needs to be fired."
Upon being hired by The Foundation, Imara had been instructed to keep what was basically a tablet close to her at all times. Though she had questioned why they couldn't just call her, she had decided that a place as high tech and 'fancy' as this was very much going to have their own way of doing things.
After scanning the short message, Imara felt her face scowl before her body began to straighten, muscles tensing when she snapped the device shut. Shoving it into her back pocket with one hand and shutting her laptop with the other, she grabbed her keys and headed out the door. A summons was not something to be ignored no matter what time of day.
In fifteen minutes she was pulling into a parking spot, grabbing her ID badge and pass from the glove compartment and heading in the direction of the front courtyard, scanning to see who else had arrived.
So he was going to need a new shower curtain - his prior one had been ripped quite impressively when he'd all but leapt from out of the shower, hit the tile, nearly slipped, catching himself on the curtain and his vanity only just in time to not end up with all manners of awful concussions and contusions.
From there it had been a quick dry off, a reading of the message and an equally quick tossing on of clothes before gathering everything he usually took with him on an outing and getting into his car to head to the foundation, arriving roughly twenty minutes after the initial message due to an overabundance of red lights.
He'd by and large treated the job with the Foundation as an interesting semi-freelance gig, but if they were calling all hands on deck then he wasn't about to not show up to the party. The message had been vague - but hey, weren't they always?
As he reached the front courtyard he was pretty sure he saw at least one familiar face - a pleasant surprise to be sure - at least for him... She might not be so enthused, especially if she recognized him off the bat, even if he was wearing his usual evening travel wear.

Zinkenite had been setting up for the evening’s observations when the message arrived. A brief, startled expression as the newness of the sound roused him from his focus the way few other things could, a quick glance around him before taking the device out to read the missive in question, and then a broad grin.
Oh, well yes that was exciting. He loved the surge of adrenaline he got from this sort of thing. He quickly gathered his things and told a few other startled staffers that he’d been called away for the night, grabbing a sandwich that someone had left on his desk to eat along the way as he belatedly realized that he was hungry, and then he was oh his way as fast as traffic lights and traffic laws would allow him.
It meant he wasn’t one of the earliest to get there, but he did his best… and hoped they would understand.
To no shock on his own part, he didn’t recognize anyone else, but he’d know names soon enough.
—
Zachary - who had at least jerked at the sound of the communicator, and then again with a small curse at the call of his name while he was reading the message, stood quickly, a hurried file save so he didn’t lose his current work but after that things would be safe behind passwords and his ‘impenetrable and cryptic’ handwriting.
“They probably made it sound like that in case we have an officer who’s prone to hyper-focus… or distraction.” Zachary mused as he glanced over the message a second time.
“I’m eager to see what they found though… I wish we’d been the first to find something but this is still fascinating.”

Kian made his way to the elevator, sliding his key card in to call it down so they could head up to the meeting. He would much rather stay in the lab working on their current project than go deal with whatever emergency this was but he did know better than to ignore the Higher Ups. They wouldn't have called a meeting if it wasn't important. As the other two joined him he looked the over to make sure everyone was presentable.
"They have been paying attention to our work so perhaps you will still get your wish. Perhaps all that data you've been inputting has something to do with how they found the strange reading."
While they waited for the elevator to arrive he checked through his communicator to see if there were any other messages he'd missed or somehow skipped over.
--------------
Courtland ran a hand through their hair before sighing. "They can make it play a noise that would knock you out of that sort of mood without making it quite that bad. Or ... I don't know, make 'extremely obnoxious alarm' a setting you can change."
If the damn thing was going to go off like that more often Courtland was going to have words with someone, somehow. The damn thing was liable to give someone a heart attack and that wouldn't do anyone any favors. "There's a level between 'emergency meeting notification' and 'the reactor is gonna blow'."
Courtland flashed Zach a grin as the elevator doors swished open and ducked around Kian to get inside. The back corner was the best place to be in the elevator and Court wanted the spot before Kian took it.

It was likely for the best that she'd had the night off, all things considered... She had ignored the first notification because it was a sound that she wasn't familiar with and that meant it couldn't be important. She had ignored the second notification because it was irritating and she figured maybe if she didn't respond it would go away. When the third came a minute later and the fourth a minute after that, Katrina began to scramble because she had somehow misplaced the most obnoxious thing in the world and now she was relying on the sound chiming once a minute, slowly driving her mad, to find it.
"Son of a...." She found it in a coat pocket she'd stuffed it into along with her talisman and ID badge, flipping it open just in time to stop the next sound before peering at the message. With another curse she checked the time, grabbing her helmet after pulling her coat on to head out the door.
She arrived at the parking garage ten minutes later for a trip that should have taken at least fifteen if not closer to twenty, shaking her hair out as she removed her helmet to leave behind with her bike. Drawing her talisman out of her coat pocket she cast a quick glance around before powering up, stepping through the shadows to pull her 'uniform' into place. Her nose wrinkled at the hosiery and the shoes and she paused to rummage through her saddle bag for a pair of dance shorts to quickly shimmy into, hiking them up under her skirt before smoothing it back down into place. "Better. Not perfect, but better..."
She clipped her talisman onto her belt, grabbing a small shoulder bag to tuck her communication device into and pulling a small bag of white cheddar popcorn out to start munching on as she wandered across the lawn. It had to be better than snapping on gum, right? And at this time of night, a snack was totally required for whatever kind of energy she would be expending. "Tourmaline reporting for duty."
Two other women had appeared, one already sitting there as Imara emerged from the parking area and the other appearing with a snack and the energy of 'I'm not late'. That drew a smile from Imara's face even as she shook her head, reaching into her own pocket for her talisman.
It was as her fingers brushed the chain that the appearance of a male in her side view jerked her head around. There was no way in the world that was him. It couldn't be. But the way he was staring directly at her...
There was that same army-like haircut, those amber eyes, and that jawline all paired with those broad shoulders. Her gut told her just who that was but part of her didn't want to believe it, didn't want to accept that such a pain in the a** would be part of her world even here.
Sliding her talisman onto her own belt loop, she raised a hand to run it through her teal hair, cursing her luck.
"Can I steal a handful?" She muttered to the one named Tourmaline when she walked closer. It wasn't a drink but it was going to have to do.

Oh. They were supposed to be using their "fun" names for this particular trip. Right. A gentle brush of his thumb over his Talisman and Leucite stood just a bit taller in his uniform. He knew he cut a fine line in it, and he also knew that when in uniform there was a certain level of decorum and procedure one needed to follow. So he shifted his stance accordingly to an easy parade rest, even if his eyes kept drifting over to the familiar teal haired woman - slightly less familiar now - but no, he was pretty sure Ms. Mason recognized him too.
If there was time after this... Maybe, just maybe, he'd muster up the attempt to ask her out for a drink - she seemed like the type that enjoyed both coffee or booze, and depending on how the evening went, they might prefer one over the other. But, he'd worry about that post mission. If it was her even. He was 99% sure it was - you didn't forget someone like that. At least he didn't.
Otherwise he kept an eye out on the crowd for any other potenially friendly faces. Apparently the world was very small - not that he minded at all.
"Hm? Oh, yeah! Sure." Grinning, she held the bag of popcorn out to the other woman. "I came prepared, just in case whatever they've called us out for is going to take a while. Do you think it's going to take a while?" Her brow quirked, head tipping as she looked to the other woman. If she'd known that pants were an option when she'd picked up her uniform she would've requested them -- more practical shoes too, honestly. If whatever they'd been called out for was going to involve any kind of field work...
"So how long have you been with the Foundation?" Might as well create a bit of small talk while she was at it. They were sharing snacks, after all. "Long enough to actually know anyone else here? Can't say I'm really familiar with anyone in uniform... Do you think the suits are going to show up tonight? Sending out a Red Alert has to mean someone at the top is going to come out of the building, yeah?"

The moment she opened her mouth, Stibnite regretted her choice. Should have stuck with the rich son of a... The thought couldn't finish manifesting as the one called Tourmaline sent off a round of questions. It was hard at first to pick up what really needed to be answered and what she could avoid altogether.
"Most likely." Stibnite settled on addressing the last question because it was one she had as well. Grabbing a few pieces of popcorn for her troubles, she continued after munching on them. "Given the message, I would say at least someone would be here."
The 'bosses'? Maybe not but someone directly under them she could believe.
Only time would tell and it was drawing closer to 9pm. How many more would come?

One final alert would go out to those who had not received the message before the com-devices fell silent, much as they had been for the majority of the time they had been in the possession of anyone who had not previously been assigned a special project or task. The com devices were a relatively new piece of technology, with tests run on their security and reliability for a year before they were passed out to every soldier. Any and all communications involving the Organization part of the Foundation's motto were to be sent through them -- for safety reasons. Standard technology could be tracked. Standard technology couldn't be trusted.
Tonight's venture would be testing out another piece of new technology; one that had been in development during the time of the Alliance that they hadn't been able to bring to full functionality. The Alliance had been comprised of four idiots, mere shadows of what could have been. The four who now served in their stead were ambitious, meant to be leaders and filled with drive and determination. Three now crossed the lawn, each dressed in a finely tailored suit. Each wore a tie of their division's color, each one of them sporting a piece of jewelry containing the gem that had restored their strength, reigniting their understanding of what had been before.
"If we can have your attention," the one with long, periwinkle hair piped up, bringing up a hand to brush strands away from his face as he glanced about those gathered. "We're waiting for six or seven more others to join us and we'll begin. In the mean time, please continue making introductions, where applicable..."

Alexandre had been busy cooking, he'd been busy earlier so had settled on a late dinner, when the message had arrived. His phone was set on the counter top, kept close incase he got any messages from work, instead of something from work the message was from that other job which he had. Turning off the range he went to put the food into the microwave, to keep it safe from the dog, and after clearing the counter top and the table Alex headed off for the meeting. He knew he was running late but there wasn't much he could do, unless he wanted to burn his home down or possibly have a sick dog when he returned.
When he did arrive he did so in the most silent manner possible, he didn't need his late arrival being noticed. Not knowing anyone else around him the ashen blond found a place to observe everyone from, a way to keep his distance yet still be a part of whatever was going on. Benitoite was curious about what was going to happen...but he would wait, silently, and see what was happening.

While they were in the elevator Kian took out his talisman, tossing it in his hand for a moment, before letting the energy inside wash over him. It had been a strange feeling the first time he'd used it but he was becoming more and more used to the way the creeping feeling felt. Cold yet satisfying seemed to sum it up rather well.
Once he'd settled back into 'himself' he ran a hand through his hair and huffed out a breath. "They really could have done more about the tailoring and color choices." He didn't necessarily have an issue with the uniform that he'd been provided but it still left something to be desired. The color was at least a bit more flattering than he'd expected from a 'uniform' so there was that small mercy.
When the doors chimed and slid open he headed out through the main lobby of the building and to the lawn where everyone else was gathered. He recognized a few faces from those who had been with the Foundation for a time and a shock of pink hair that seemed familiar but he couldn't place why.
"Hm ... the Bosses are here."
-----------------
Seeing Kian power up Courtland thought it was probably a good sign that they should too. The talisman was easy to dig out of a pocket but they still hated using it. Something about it felt strange and slightly wrong but Courtland figured that had to do with whatever altered their clothes into the god awful outfit.
Tugging on the skirt Courtland sighed. "At least the shoes are passable." The whole get-up wasn't something Court would be caught dead in otherwise.
