Enki woke up and looked around. She saw the vase and smiled. She didn't know why, but she just got a feeling of happiness when she saw it. She suddenly heard an explosion and the house shook. She grabbed the vase before it could fall.

Enki: "Oh, that's right. Oniisan got back yesterday."

She heard an all-too-familiar voice rushing toward her older brother's room.

Urini: "... must I tell Father to be careful?! Yeesh! If its not one thing it's..."

Enki: "I wonder what it was this time..."

Enki raised the blinds higher to let in more sunlight.

???: "Enki-neechan, I take it San-niisan is back?"

Enki looked over to see her youngest sister, Inryoku in the doorway. She looks about 7 years old, has blue eyes and dark black hair.

Inryoku: "How much you wanna bet that twin brother of mine is involved, too?"

Enki: "Knowing those two, there's no way Ten isn't involved."

They laughed. Inryoku turned and noticed the vase.

Inryoku: "Ah! Did you get that from a boyfriend?"

Enki: "Wha? NO! Zarmina gave it to me!"

Inryoku: "Oh, I see. I wonder what kind of flower will grow from it?"

???: "Watch it turn out to be an ear of corn!"

Enki's younger sister, Kesshou, stood with Inryoku. She seemed nine years old, and had pale cyan colored hair. Like all of Enki's sibblings, she had blue eyes.

Enki: "Oh, shut up! It's going to be better than any flower you've ever seen, you'll see!"

Inryoku: "Don't tease her like that, Kesshou-neechan! She's too sensitive to sarcasm!"

Enki: "Oh, quiet you!"

Kesshou: "Ha ha... C'mon sis, let's go tease Oniisan! It's been, what, seven hundred years since he was here last?"

As Inryoku and Kesshou left, Enki grabbed an Ice-like Jewel off her dresser and went outside the doorway.

Enki: "Frost!"

Enki glowed, and bits of ice flew and clung to her younger sisters.

Kesshou: "Gah!"
Inryoku: "It's cold!"

Enki laughed and returned to her room. she picked up the small blue jewel she used yesterday.

Enki: "Douse."

Like yesterday, she watered the mystery plant with the purest psynergetic water.

She looked at the vase and felt a sense of belonging.



Sidhe Status:

Enki woke up. She got out of bed, stretched, walked past her sprouting plant, and into the kitchen. She fixed herself her usual---two eggs, sunny side up, with two slices of bacon, two pieces of sausage, and a bowl of grits---and ate it. She walked into the bathroom, brushed her teeth, and went back to bed.

Wait... sprouting plant?

Enki shot up and turned to her plant. It had sprouted, and was nearing the lip of the vase.

Enki: "...WHAAAAAT?!"

Never in her life had Enki seen a plant grow that fast. Well, that's a lie... never without the psynergy Growth had she seen it. But Growth caused a plant to become fully grown, and this one clearly wasn't.

Enki: "... ... ... WOW!"

She studied the plant. It didn't look like any plant she had ever seen before--and she had seen alot. The truth was, although Enki seemed to be 11 years old, that was mearly how much her body had aged. In actuality, Enki was over 1.5 million. She was born in another dimesion, where time flowed much slower than this one. Thus, she experinced things at the rate of time flow of this dimesion, wheras she aged according to that of her home dimension. Because of this, she has experienced much over the years, and is quite knowlegable when it comes to things.

Enki: "I've never seen this plant before... Where did Zarmina get it?"

???: "What kind of plant is that?"

Enki turned. In the doorway was a girl whom seemed to be 19. She had long lavender hair, and wore an extremely oversized ribbon in it in the shape of a bow. The ribbon was hot pink in color. Like Bethany the day before, she had circular earmuff-like things where her ears should be. She was wearing a long flowing, sky blue dress.

Enki: "What's with the get-up, Inju?"

Inju: "Oh, ... ... It's nothing. Does it look strange?"

Enki: "No, not really... It's just, I've never seen you in anything but a kimono..."

Inju: "Well excuse me for trying something new."

Enki: "Aw, don't be that way! Hey, come here. What do you think of this plant?"

Inju came up close for a better look.

Inju: "I've never seen a plant like that, not even when I was travelling with your father in the last war..."

Enki: "Really?"

Inju: "Well, there are still many undiscovered species in Weyard, just as there are in any reality. I can't wait to find out what blooms. It would be amazing to observe."

Enki: "Well, I'm just content taking care of it."

Inju: "It was Zarmina who gave this to you, right? LORI told me."

Enki: "Yes, it was. But you know what the strange thing is? It's grown four or five inches overnight. When I went to bed, it hadn't sprouted yet."

Inju: "Hmm... That is interesting. Have you been watering it regularly? There are some species of plant that suddenly grow a bit when you water them."

Enki: "I know that, and yes, I've watered it once each day since I got it."

Inju: "I see..."

Enki: "Inju, may I ask you a question?"

Inju: "Sure, I guess."

Enki: "What emotion does hot pink represent?"

Inju: "Ack!"

Enki: "Bethany's hair is designed to change with her emotions, as is your ribbon. Yesterday, Bethany came in here with hot pink hair. Today, your ribbon is hot pink. What's up?"

Inju (all fast like): "Umm, err, ehh, It's nothing really, besides I should really get going. Good luck with your plant, bye!"

And Inju left.

Enki: "It's sooooo obvious now." Enki grabbed the Douse Drop and cast douse on the plant as usual. "They're in love. But I wonder..."

She lay back on her bed and stared up at the ceiling.

Enki: "With whom?"



Sidhe Status:

Enki sat on her bed, lost in thought. If this were truly a love triangle going on beween Bethany and Inju, Bethany would surely be oblivious until it was too late. Inju was always quick to catch on to things. Actually, the fact that Enki herself had told Inju that Bethany's hair had been hot pink the other day probably had caused her to look into it.

Enki hit herself on the head.

Enki: "Stupid! I should have been more aware then!"

She looked over at her sprouting flower. It hadn't done so much as grow a millimeter since two and a half days ago, when it suddenly sprang up overnight. She took the Douse Drop and watered it, then went out for a walk.


It was four hours before she came back. She looked at the time, 6:24, and sighed. She closed the door and lay down on her bed. She started to reach over for a book, but stopped---perhaps reading something would only work to distort her views on the matter. There was a knock at the door.

Enki: "Yes?"

Her mother, Elizabeth Carter, opened the door and walked in. She had long, blond hair, and hazel eyes.

Elizabeth: "Enki, do you have a bit?"

Enki: "Sure."

Elizabeth closed the door behind her.

Elizabeth: "I'm pretty sure you noticed this before anyone else, but for some reason Inju's a nervous wreck. And if I know my eldest daughter as well as I think, you know why, or at least have theory behind it."

Enki: "Well, I do but... I don't want to complicate things."

Elizabeth: "What do you mean by that?"

Enki: "This is one of those things you just have to let play out. And the odds are, it's only going to get worse before it gets better."

Elizabeth: "So you know what the problem is?"

Enki: "I think Inju and Bethany are caught in a love triangle. Bethany is clueless as ever, but Inju..."

Elizabeth: "I see. That would definitely do that. And knowing your record, your probably right when you say it's best to be left to its own devices for now."

Enki: "Yes. This is one of those things where one should only help if they are asked for it. Otherwise, problems will arise."

Elizabeth turned and headed for the door.

Elizabeth: "Thanks for clearing things up, Enki."

Enki: "No problem, Mom."

Elizabeth left and Enki turned back to her bed. She looked over at her plant.

Enki: "Wha?!"

The plant had budded since she left. It now reached over the top of the vase, and a lovely purple flower bud was at its top.

Enki: "... Well, at least some things are looking up."



Sidhe Status:

Enki hurried around, cleaning up. The place didn't really need it, but it was a large area, and if left unchecked, would clutter up quickly. It was a nice living room, and had all the conviniences you'd find in a normal house of the day. Strangely enough, many of them had been invented by her older brother, San. She had just finished dusting the entertainment center when there was a knock on the door. Enki answered it. It was a woman, early to mid twenties in age. She wore a white hat with the pattern of a royal flush on it. Her earings were pairs of dice; one black with red spots, the other red with black spots. Her clothes seemed high end, and seemed to have the reletive theme of gambling.

Actually, everything about this woman seemed to scream "Gambler!"

???: "May I have a drink?"

Enki: "Oh, sure." Enki got a glass and filled it with water. She got back and...

The woman flipped a coin. On one side was the image of a joker, on the other, the image of the four suits. It landed on the image of the suits.

???: "Oh, well."

Enki: "Umm... Okay... Here." Enki tried to hand the woman the glass, but...

???: "Sorry, I can't take it."

Enki: "What? Why?"

The woman flipped a coin again. It landed on the side with the suits agian.

???: "I can't tell you that."

Enki: "And why is that?"

The woman flipped another coin. This time it landed on the side with the joker.

???: "For the same reason as before."

Enki looked baffled. Who was this woman?

Enki: "Umm... Who are you?"

The woman flipped another coin. It landed on the suits.

???: "Wouldn't you like to know."

Enki was getting irritated.

Enki: "Listen, try coming in and sitting down. I'm sure you're tired."

The woman flipped yet another coin. The joker side this time.

???: "Alright."

Enki led the woman to the couch, but the woman stopped and flipped another coin. This one landed on the joker side, too. The woman took a seat on the couch.

Now Enki thought she got it. This woman made decisions by flipping a coin. The joker side must be heads, or "yes", and the suit side was tails, or "no".

Enki: "Would you like something to eat or drink?"

The woman flipped two coins. The first landed on the joker side, heads. The second did as well.

???: "Yes, and yes."

Enki figured she'd probably turn that glass of water down, since she already had decided on it, so she got the woman a soda and made something simple for her; ramen. She placed the meal infront of the woman.

The woman proceeded to flip two more coins. The first landed on the suit side, tails, as did the second. The woman shrugged.

???: "Oh, well."

Enki looked dumbfounded. She had just prepared a meal for her guest and it was turned down because of the outcome of a coin toss.

Enki: "Is it alright if you don't listen to the coin?"

The woman flipped another coin. It landed on the suit side. Tails.

???: "I can't tell you that."

Enki: "... ... I see... ... Well, umm, will you be staying for long, or are you just passing through?"

The woman flipped four coins this time. Tails, Heads, Heads, Tails.

???: "I can't tell you whether or not I will be staying here long, but I can tell you that I'm not just passing through."

Enki had a sneaking suspiscion that the second coin meant that she would be staying long. What had she gotten herself into?

Enki: "... Umm... Where are you from?"

The woman flipped a coin. Tails.

???: "I can't tell you that."

Enki: "Okay then, how did you get here?"

Tails.

???: "Can't tell you that either."

Enki: "Is there anything you can tell me?"

Heads.

???: "Yes."

Enki: "Like what?"

Tails.

???: "I can't tell you that."

Enki buried her face in her hands. She should have seen that coming.

Enki: "Why did you knock on my door?"

Tails.

???: "Can't tell you."

Enki figured the coin had landed on heads when she was making the decision on wheather or not to knock on it, anyway.

Enki: "Could you stop relying on that coin, just for a bit?"

The woman flipped another coin, but Enki caught it.

???: "HEY!"

She flipped another coin. Enki ignored it. She'd probably just keep flipping them until she got her answer.

The coin landed on heads. Then exploded.

Enki: *cough* "What the!?"

???: "No."

Wait... Wasn't it heads?

Enki: "Why 'no'? And why did you do that? The carpet's a mess now!"

The woman flipped another round of coins. Tails and Tails.

???: "Sorry. Can't answer either of those questions."

Enki: "Get out!"

She tossed another coin. Tails.

???: "No."

Enki had had enough. She started dragging the woman out. The woman flipped another coin, but nothing else happened. She pushed her out of the house and closed the door behind her. She looked back at the mess that the woman had caused.

Enki: "Oh, man, how am I going to explain this to Mom?"

She walked toward her own room. She had had enough today, and didn't care for more. She stopped at a coin. It was the one that the woman had thown on the way out.

Tails. No, she would not put up a struggle.

Enki returned to her room and watered the flower with the Douse Drop.

Enki: "I just met the strangest person..."



Sidhe Status:

Enki looked over at Illana, who was nibbling on a cruton. She now knew why looking at the flower had always make her feel happy. Enki thought to her self for a moment, sat up and walked over to Illana.

Enki: "Soo... what exactly do you know about the elements?"

Illana stopped munching on the cruton and looked up at Enki.

Illana: "...Elements?"

Enki: "Heh... I'll take that as a 'nothing'... Well, then, how about I teach you?"

Illana: "Okay..."

Enki: "Okay, there are four Elements of Alchemy, each with the power to create and destroy. They are Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water. You can combine them to get different effects, and each person has an elemental nature."

Illana: "Even you?"

Enki: "Yes. I have an Alkaline nature. When you mix Earth, Fire, and Water, you get what is called Alkaline."

Illana: "Wow."

Enki: "But that's not all. There is also the Elements of Twilight, Light and Dark, which are seprate from the other four. You can further break Light and Dark down into three categories: Offensive, Recovery, and Alignment. For light, the categories are represented by Light, Sun, and Holy. For Dark, Darkness, Moon, and Nether."

Illana: "What's the difference?"

Enki: "Offensive is basically attacking, Recovery is used for healing, and Alignment effects things based on how good or evil they are."

Illana: "Do the basic elements have those categories, too?"

Enki: "No, the basic elements aren't split up, but they can be used Offensively, Supportively and in Recovery."

Illana: "What's 'Supportively'?"

Enki: "Supportive skills don't damage and don't heal, but have different effects. They can blind, weaken, and hinder an opponent, but can also hasten, strengthen, or aid a friend."

Illana: "Oh... So... Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water can be used to attack, heal and defend, but since Light and Dark are used differently, they are in a different group..."

Enki: "Wow, you catch on fast. But that isn't all. There's another element called Aether. It balances the equasion of the other elements. Where the others can create and destroy, Aether cancels them out. In other words, it can halt creation and nullify destruction."

Illana: "So... It can stop other elements from working?"

Enki: "Yup."

Elizabeth (from another room): "Enki, can I see you for a moment?"

Enki: "Errk..."

Illana: "Who was that?"

Enki: "That's my Mom. I know, I can get everyone to introduce themselves to you later!"

Illana: "Okay..."

Enki: "I'll be back in a little bit."

As Enki left to find out what her mom wanted, Illana curled up in the flower. She was already full from the cruton, so she rested. Soon, she was sound asleep.
