After her conversation with Encke, Keiko had been thinking a lot about going back up to her homeworld, and finally she was ready for it. She had purchased a sturdy sleeping bag, a nice thick one meant for hunters in the woods. It wasn’t pretty, a burnt orange color with antlers and other nature-esque items on the inside. Not pretty at all…but damn if it wasn’t warm. Sh had tested it out in her room and had started sweating after only a minute or so…so hopefully it would keep her toasty up in the snow filled wilderness.
And if not…she’d just come home early, that was all. Easy peasy.
Keiko filled a backpack with some food, instant coffee and several supplies that could easily be used to start a fire. She had a few blankets in there as well, just in case the sleeping bag wasn’t quite enough. And they could easily be rolled into an extra pillow or two if she needed.
The plan was to stay overnight tonight, and take stock of what she might have to do in order to keep fixing the place up, in order to get her own glow bug disease. The protection that would offer…sounded very nice. Encke had been quite good with talking it up. He seemed like he’d become a good friend, and that was nice. She could always use more of those.
Drawing in a breath, Keiko relaxed and pressed the ‘Home’ button on her senshi phone, feeling the gentle tug, taking her up to Keiko once again.
The rush of cold made her squeak in a surprised delight, but a laugh escaped after a moment, and she pulled out the sweatshirt she had put in the backpack and zipped it up, looking around the ruined…whatever this place had been. Well…now what. Should she do? She was here, up on Keiko once again…it was cold once again…and now she wasn’t sure what she should do. Perhaps…a fire would be the best place to start. Make herself somewhere warm that she could have, a spot of safety that she would be able to relax in.
Thankfully it wasn’t too difficult setting up the campfire to start out with, and when the fire was beginning to crackle, Keiko sighed softly, moving closer to it, unhappy that it wasn’t really…hot yet. Was this normal? Maybe it needed some more wood. She got up and hurried out of the sheltered spot she was making camp and began to gather some of the wood around the area, frowning slightly at it. It didn’t look…normal but..perhaps this was just…Keiko wood. Because that makes sense.
Snorting, she shook her head and walked back to the fire, piling the wood into it, staring as it turned a beautiful teal color as the new wood began to burn. Well. Okay then.
The warmth that the flames began to emanate was wonderful, and Keiko sighed, setting up her sleeping bag and sitting atop it, feeling a little pleased with the little slice of home she had carved out...even if it was just a sleeping bag and a strangely colored fire. Though...as Keiko looked around, she knew that she could do more, knew she had to try to do more. This was a start. The tiniest of toeholds in fixing her wonder. Making it livable once again.
Sighing deeply, she got back up off of the sleeping bag and glanced around again, picking the thing up and wrinkling her nose at the dust and dirt that had already collected on the underside. Perhaps she should have cleaned first. It would have made sense, at least. If the place was clean then she could...yeah whatever. Smart thoughts come from past mistakes and all that jazz.
Luckily, she had packed a broom, a fancy thing that was extendable, and, drawing it out of her backpack, she extended it now, sweeping the dust and rocks and whatever she could out of her corner with gusto.
Sweeping was...kind of exhausting, to say the least, and when she finally had the floor as spotless as she could make it, Keiko once again laid her sleeping bag on the ground and slumped down on it. It was much nicer without the lumpy rock poking into her back...and while it wasn’t quite…comfortable, lying on the cold foundation of whatever this building had been...it wasn’t the worst thing with the sleeping bag. And if she were to actually get into the bag it would be even better...not quite as squishy but at least twice as cozy.
She did it now, sliding into the sleeping bag and giving a contented sigh at just how warm it was. Yes, this had been a very good investment indeed, but now she had to figure out what else would be needed. Honestly, building back this place seemed like a good bet...but she didn’t know what it had even been...though if she could find a way to build it...maybe not to whatever it had been...but to something...bricks would work, maybe? Or, she was sure Encke would be able to help her figure something out.
The warmth of the sleeping bag and the fire were making Keiko feel rather sleepy, and she was rather powerless to stop her eyes from closing, nor did she really want to...it was nice.
The building was a beautiful manor house, built by the people of Keiko as a safe place for their senshi to reside in. It was the best house on the whole asteroid, and since she was now the senshi of the asteroid, Yukina was so terribly excited to leave her small hut that she shared with her family, and move into this amazing place. Sure, now she would have all sorts of new responsibilities, but that wasn’t anything she couldn’t handle. She was destined to be the senshi. To protect her people from the monsters that brought the cold and the snow. She was destined to be the ambassador of Keiko now, she would be able to leave! To have relations with other asteroids, other planets and stars!
Of course, she was only seven, so the real responsibilities wouldn’t come until later, but still! There were so many things that she would be able to do from now on!.
Keiko wrinkled her nose as a gust of icy wind blew into her hollow, extinguishing the fire and proving to be cold enough that she couldn’t sleep through it…
How long she had been asleep she didn’t know...but what a strange dream she had had, short as it was…
Perhaps...she would have to meet Encke to talk about that...and figure out what the hell it might have meant.
As another gust of wind blew hard, the senshi shuddered and rolled up her sleeping bag again, quickly packing her items in the backpack, and made for Destiny City without another thought. She would have to find a way to build another wall, or something to keep out the drafts. Right now, Keiko wasn’t ready for anyone to live on, or spend more than a short while...but.
With time, perhaps...
