Her hair had been evened out thanks to the assistance of Læraðr, and Aeleas had a slew of new products to try and make her hair...healthier? That was the word he used, but to just make it better by human standards, and by her own. Of course, even though the page had said that it would take weeks if not months to see the results in her hair, she was impatient. And when she saw a product called ‘Miracle Grow’, she had to get a bottle, and had taken to mixing that into the other hair care products she had bought.
Thus far, there had been no miracles but...she was hopeful. And the people on this planet seemed to believe in miracles a lot. It was kind of neat.
When she added in the Miracle Grow to her paste of other products, her scalp did tingle...and that was...clearly a good sign, wasn’t it? Tingling scalp meant that a miracle was working, clearly.
But. Still. Aeleas couldn’t see any change, so she went to Fae-Fae’s room, someone she trusted the opinion of and knocked in bursts of three, quickly.
“Fae-Fae! It’s Aeleas! I need your assistance!”

The entrance opened while Aeleas was still midsentence. Ever eager to support her friends, Fae-Fae was quick to answer, waving her comrade in with a welcoming smile. She had an Earth book in her other hand, titled Gone With the Wind. She'd been trying to read it with the converter off. It was still difficult for her to understand what "fiction" was, but apparently this book was a popular example of yet another one of humanity's strange and mysterious inventions that had no equivalent on Velencya. While it was extremely primitive, sitting with the book and relying on a light source to read it was rather soothing. So were the gentle scraping noises as she turned the pages. For now though, she would have to put a "bookmark" in it and attend to Aeleas. " Hello," she said. " What troubles you?"

“Fae-Fae!” Aeleas was so pleased to find that her fellow cadet was there, and was willing to help, though she knew that such was normally the case. “It is my hair. It’s been my hair since the accident. I found one of the...the…” She hesitated, wrinkling her nose and shrugging. “The not-senshi? The…”
It was something different. Something that wasn’t…
“Knights! Like when the sun goes down. One of the knights came and told me that things on this planet could not stimulate instant hair growth, but he evened out and gave me a haircut...as well as found me human products.”
Aeleas drew in a breath and continued, tripping over her words in her excitement. “However, I did find something on my own, it is called Miracle Grow, it makes my head…tingle. Do you think it is working? Do you see growth that would constitute a miracle? Do you know what might constitute a miracle?”

Miracle Grow? Oh dear. Fae-Fae giggled a bit as she took a polite glance at her comrade's hair, shaking her head in response to her inquiry. " I mistakenly thought that substance was a plant-based mineral supplement," she recalled. She'd even been foolish enough to taste some of it, mixing it into fresh water as instructed. It actually hadn't tasted that bad, either. Unlike so much earth food, it at least had nutritional value. " But it is intended for plants," she finished, giggling again.

Aeleas paused and felt her cheeks growing warm in shame. “...This planet...needs to change the way that it names things, I think. I do not understand why...they would advertise that it helps things grow…” The cadet broke off and rubbed a hand over her face. “I was so very excited to come to Earth to see growth...but it seems that my thoughts on how the growth works is proven wrong at every turn. It is a little disheartening.”
She turned mournful eyes on her friend. “...Have you been having more luck with this planet? With this mission? Are you enjoying yourself here?”
Aeleas hoped so. They deserved to enjoy themselves. Even if this planet didn’t have instant growth...it was still amazing.

It was an embarassing situation, for sure, but Fae-Fae wasn't inclined to treat it that way. Sometimes learning experiences were funny! " This planet is full of contradictions," she admitted. The splendid parts clashed with the disturbing parts in a way that inspired constant confusion, and so many things just plain made no sense. Whether she was enjoying herself was a question she chose not to answer: this was, after all, a mission and not a vacation. Knowing Fae-Fae, though, she probably was. " Does your hair truly still trouble you?" she then asked.

Aeleas wrinkled her nose and gave a soft huff, sitting down and drawing her knees up to her chest, shrugging. “Well. Yes. It was my failure. How could it not trouble me? I thought for sure Commodore Lyndin would find out, or one of the Commanders and I would get pulled back home...The knight that I spoke with, he told me that I should simply say that he had given me a...hair cut. And that it was done completely by my own choosing. I find this a little silly, though I wish it could be the case.”
Reaching up, she fluffed the newly trimmed bottom of her hair and sighed. “It made it more even. And the way he cut it made it softer, but still. I miss my hair. I am such a vain creature, I know but.” Aeleas sighed and looked wistful for a moment. “It was my very favorite feature that I had, Fae-Fae. I always dreamed of being a strong commander, with hair that flowed behind me as I protected my own. Perhaps I have just had the wrong ways of looking at things.”
Perhaps indeed.
“What are your thoughts? Am I just a vain creature unworthy of this position?”

For a moment, Fae-Fae's eyes drooped closed, and she allowed Aeleas's words to conjure the mental image of the future she dreamed of. A strong commander, with flowing hair... she bit at her lip briefly, slightly indulgent, as she decided she appreciated that potential sight. But the present Aeleas, with her unexpectedly short hair, was nice too. Appreciation for the other Cadet bloomed shamelessly across her features as she considered her response. " If you love your hair, you should treat it more gently," she tenderly encouraged. " You don't want to damage it while it's growing."

Aeleas swallowed hard and nodded, reaching to scratch at her still tingling scalp. “...Will you assist me in rinsing this fake miracle out of it for me then? And will you aid me in caring for it? You are the most gentle person I know, Fae Fae.”
Perhaps her fellow cadet would be the best kind of ‘miracle grow’ that there was...if she encouraged her to treat her hair more gently well…
Yes, She could try.
“...Now that I think of it, our hair is now about the same length is it not? If you do not mind the length, then I suppose I will be able to learn to love mine as well.” She hadn’t thought of that before...and when the words were spoken aloud...she realized that they were very true.

Fae-Fae smiled once more, and she nodded and stood up, offering Aeleas her hand. She was more than willing to help her friend clean up and take better care of herself. So, she set her book aside for the time being, and led the fellow Cadet off to somewhere her requests could be properly fulfilled.
