It wasn't often that Xipili found himself traveling outside of Sulburi, but his father had convinced him that it would be good exposure to see the fashions of southern cities. They might not be as progressive as a whole, but there were bound to be a few pieces or ideas they could bring back with them. His father adored their solo trips and honestly, so did he. It was a chance for the two to get some solo bonding that was hidden behind a thin layer of good natured ribbing. They would bicker, argue, and all out antagonize one another the entire time, but the moment something happened they had each other's backs.

For that, Xipili would be eternally grateful.

As it was, however, his father was tied up in 'adult' business and although Xipili was growing into his own as a man he hadn't been invited to attend. So, the Sulburi native had taken to meandering the market and inspecting some of their silks.

Being a pre-teen came with some advantages. One being that his mother allowed him to leave the house without supervision and without his younger siblings tagging along. So long as he didn't go too far. Of course that still left him plenty of places to go. His favorite place? The market! There were a lot of shiny things to see.

Visha didn't care how many times he'd passed by a stall, seeing the shiny things was always fun. Even if the merchandise hadn't changed from the last time. One never knew when they'd find something new. Or something that was overlooked.

As he moved along to the next vendor, this one having a plethora of fabrics to look at, he adjusted all the bangles on his wrists. He was still trying to convince his mother to let him pierce his ears so that he could have beautiful earrings but so far she was still stuck on her argument of 'when you're older.' He was hoping that when his dad came back from his latest trip that he could convince him instead. As he thought about just how to talk his dad into it a bit of fabric caught his attention and he reached over to inspect it. If he liked it then he might get some and take it home to Korin to see what she could do with it.

Xipili languidly moved from one side of the stall to the next. His overshirt fanned behind him as he walked and the clicking of his heels on the hard packed stone was nearly drowned out by the sounds of the market around him. A bolt of fabric had caught his eye, and the young hybrid meant to have it; for the right price. It was a lovely sunset of purples, pinks, oranges and a few flecks of gold. The colors would look stunning in a piece he was putting together for his birthday, but Xipili was no fool. He knew that the more glamorous a thing the higher it's value, regardless of whether it was worth it.

When he reached over to inspect it his hand came close to another's; thankfully someone who was looking at a nearby fabric and not his. "Forgive me, I didn't see you." At first he assumed it was another Oban, but when Xipili really got a look at the other boy he couldn't help being curious.

The voice registered in his mind, but Visha was more occupied with the hand that was close to his. Or more specifically, the nails. He was grinning at them. While he didn't think he would be able to pull off that color he was thinking about the length. It had never dawned on him before that he could grow his nails out!

The boy looked up at the owner of the hand and continued to grin. "It's alright." He waved the apology away, figuratively and physically, causing the bangles on his wrist to clang together. "May I ask how long it took for your nails to grow out?" He was super curious about that. Visha would likely need to start right away and remember not to chew on his nails if he wanted to get such length.

Xipili elegantly twisted his hand so that he too could bask in the glory of his own nails. "Not long at all, but if you're looking to grow yours I would suggest drinking niiribi root tea. It will strengthen them; otherwise they might be too brittle and flake off." He'd seen far too many attempt the look only to fail because of a proper diet. The child had enough sense to go after nicer fabrics so Xipili felt it critical to give him proper advice. "One cup every other day. Too much and they'll be too hard to shape but too little and it won't work."

The bangles caught his attention and Xipili couldn't resist reaching out for the boy's hand. He gently maneuvered it so he could see the jewelry in proper lighting. "These are lovely."

He gave the other a mischievous look. Oh he was going to get that tea. He wanted his nails that long! Imagine the colors he could wear with different outfits. When his hand was moved so that his bangles could be admired he didn't mind the attention. "They match my anklets." At his comment he moved one leg so that he could twist his foot and let the jewelry there make noise as well.

"I didn't wear the matching tiara today though." A shame really but he hadn't taken the time to style his hair in a way to show off the tiara. Visha had been in a hurry to leave the house without his younger siblings.

"So niiribi root tea you say?"

Xipili tilted his neck and his cranial accessories moved with him. "Ah! So they do!" On the rare occasions that he wore footwear that exposed his feet Xipili would have chosen to wear anklets as well. These days, however, he'd found himself a fan of the heeled boot. Some of his tutors called them 'impractical' but seeing as never planned on going anywhere other than cities what would it matter?

"Yes, niiribi root tea. A side effect of the tea is that your hair will grow faster as well, but seeing as you already wear it long it shouldn't be much of an issue." A tiara? My, this child really was bold. "Are you here with anyone? Or are you the only one in your family with taste?"

His hair growing long wasn't an issue at all either. In fact, Visha smiled even more at that bit. "Perfect. I was planning to grow it out a bit more anyways." So that was a win win for him.

"I'm here by myself, but my younger brother has nice taste as well. My mother is a dancer so she has to have good taste." The rest of them? Well, sometimes Visha had questions. Not that they looked bad they just.. could do better. "My dad has no taste at all, he's a deck hand on a ship so he's limited in options anyways."

"It's easy to see who you take after." A deck hand? How garish. While Xipili understood the importance of a laborers work he just couldn't bring himself to ever volunteer to do it himself. Some people were born to focus on muscles instead of good looks and others were meant to be a shining star. Something for the others to fawn over as they toiled away in their daily grind.

"I can imagine that having longer nails wouldn't benefit your father at all." They would likely snap the moment he tried do anything with them. "What can you tell me about your mother? Is she a well known dancer?"

Taking after his mother was a compliment in his eyes. Not that his father was ugly or anything it just made more sense for him to take after the pretty one. The image of his dad with long nails, however, did make him chuckle. "Sadly no, she took time off to have me and my younger siblings and when she does dance its at a local Inn. She used to travel the southern border of Jauhar and dance for crowds though." What he wouldn't give to see his mother do that again.

Maybe he could convince her to do that. She had all the pretty outfits. Visha thought they were being wasted on locals. His mother would look good on a stage.

Ah, well, that was a disappointment. If she'd been a well known performer then getting closer to her through her son would have been beneficial for Xipili's family business. As it was he had absolutely no reason to stick around longer than need to but it wasn't as if he couldn't afford to satiate his curiosity.

Even as he spoke others were moving around the fabric stall and a nearby woman had started eyeing his fabric. With a snap of his fingers he waved the seller over and motioned for him to wrap up the fabric. When the man simply quirked a brow Xipili rolled his eyes and produced a satchel full of gold.

"I'll get right on wrapping this up for you, sir~"

"See that you do."

To the woman at his side Xipili gave her a sharp, prideful eye before turning back toward the younger boy.

"Perhaps one day I'll be able to see her perform. If she's half the dancer you say she is then she'll be well worth it."

Visha watched the boy gain the attention of the seller and basically demand to have the fabric wrapped up to go. His attention went to the fabric in question, a brow raised slightly, then to the woman who seemed to have been attempting to take it. It was interesting.

"Perhaps one day. I believe she should be able to go out and dance again since my youngest sibling is old enough to be home alone." Not to mention they had older siblings and a dad that would be home occasionally.

"Her name is Kalliope. So if you happen to come across her.." He lifted a shoulder up slightly.

"What about your name?" Knowing the woman in question was all well in good, but constantly referring to him mentally as 'boy' was becoming taxing. "If we've met once there's a chance our paths may cross again in the future." If he developed his eye for fashion then maybe he could be an influential contact for Xipili. Perhaps he shouldn't have thought of it like that, especially since the boy was still so young, but Xipili didn't have time to waste on useless connections.

"Also, I'm curious; are there others in your family with eyes like yours or are they unique?"

"Visha." That was a simple answer. Of course he hadn't thought to give his name earlier so he felt a bit of embarrassment about it, which caused his cheeks to darken some. At the mention of his eyes he blinked almost stupidly since he forgot that they were two different colors. "Ah, just me. My other siblings have normal eyes." And as far as he knew extended family also had normal eyes. He was the only one with two different colors. He supposed that did make him unique in a way.

"Although, my dad has teal colored eyes and he's Matorian." So that wasn't normal either.

"Teal eyes for a Matorian? Are you sure he's not a hybrid?" It would make sense if he were part Sautian, but to be pure blooded...Xipili hadn't heard of such a thing. "I think it's best that you're the only one with unique eyes. It makes you stand out and gives you an edge."

At least it would definitely help him to stand out in any social circles. Oban - Matorian hybrids were common enough in the area, but with eyes like that? It would bring him a lot of attention though it would be up to him what kind that would be.

"If you're ever in Sulburi look me up. My name is Xipili and I wouldn't mind a fresh take on some of the shops we have in the capital."
