Eso had once more dragged Itztenoch out with him. This time no human guide. He'd seen things before that he wanted to explore, but the drink known as boba tea had become more important that day. He still found it a wonderfully cool, sweet, and addictive drink that doubled as a snack. Maybe something he would have to try to get while he was out today. However, there had been a pet shop full of weird, wonderful little creatures Earthlings deemed acceptable to keep as 'pets'. So he'd donned his human disguise again and, arm in arm, dragged Tenoch out with him to try to find this pet shop. He had no idea where it was, no clue how to even begin to figure out where it was other than 'head to where the delicious snack drink was'. So that's what he was doing. "I haven't even told you what I'm doing, have I?" He asked, stopping not quite in the middle of a street, but he did get promptly honked at which made him half scream and scurry for the sidewalk. Okay he had to remember that. Humans in cars hated everyone.

Itztenoch found that the more time he spent in his -secondary skin- the easier it became to be accepting of it. To traipse out into the world and hunt energy sources. Sigh of relief every time he had a partner at his side. As if the cautious edge of 'wariness' wouldn't leave him. He liked seeing his brethren go out in pairs, carefully, put on the appearance of togetherness even, if that solidarity would protect them from whatever unknown dangers lurked about every corner. The thrill of wanting to explore, tempered with every chill wind and screeching metal beast... "No, you haven't yet. Are you going to..is this more snacks?" grin soft for Eso, always for Eso. Pleased beyond words with him every time - for his ray of sunshine attitude and boldness that bade him forewords. Spurred into motion by the easy smile and energy that ran off his partner in crime. The honking put his hairs on end - hade him snarl and snap a glare to the driver of the vicious car as he squeezed Eso's hand. Shoved out of the street alongside him and onto the sidewalk with haste... "I hate those things - we really need to - its a wonder we haven't been hit yet!!" narrow dodges and narrow mistakes, a fair share of frayed nerves...

Eso almost, almost whined when his feet hit landed on the other sidewalk and he jus leaned into Tenoch wih a huff. "Humans are so impatient! I don't understand. They're always in a hurry and I really do not think it's very healthy for them. It's so stressful. They have to be working their systems to the maximum every day..." Maybe that's why humans seemed to yell so much. They all overworked themselves instead of learning how to balance work and relaxation. Definitely they'd need more studies on that. "And no, Itztenoch. No snacks! At least that's not the goal I had in mind. I heard of a store. A pet store. I looked into it a little bit and they had all sorts of Earth creatures the humans deem too cute to eat?" Sounded fake, but he wanted to see what humans deemed 'cute'. Why did it matter what something looked like? If it was a food source it was food! Right? He flashed his friend a flirty smile before hauling him off again. He had the vaguest idea where he was going because it was supposed to be near the boba shop. So he'd just go there and figure it out.

Eos was going to be the death of him. Plastered himself suddenly to the others back and just, nails pressed over his shoulders like a spooked creature, because every single damned time they came across a street!! Didn't the humans have any that lacked cars? Or other humans? Both, preferably, definitely both. "Maybe in all their short lived futility, they seek to race to death as eagerly as they seek to race across their roads..." huff of a sigh, and Tenoch agreed, it was not a healthy thing. Stressful surely - For Him. Let the humans run themselves silly off a cliff for all he cared, for all that they were there to help. It seemed more and more like stopping a creature that longed for a swift end. All the ways they'd invented with which to seek it as quickly as possible, all for the sake of convenience! "I'd thought the pets could be snacks, possibly? They call everything every other thing here. They put pictures of animals on products that do not in fact contain those animals...not even traces of them..it's a wonder." dismal sigh and Tenoch was curious at least. Trusted Eos to lead him along. Trusted the soft grin and simply held on for the ride. Better always, he'd found, to let this one have him and heed those instincts tapered with a grin that could've promised trouble as easily as it promised success. He would learn something from the venture, one way or another. It helped that his companion had such fervor for this. Else Tenoch would've simply gone about snapping energy from every 'driver' the world contained and have been done with it all. Those people needed naps - maybe less treats that had enough sugar and caffeine to drop themselves into sleepless graves with... "Hmm? Too cute to eat?" slow slow slow blink and long stare - and he tried to wrap his mind around it. So far all of their food had seemed...well certainly something about the boba had seemed cute? Yet he'd eaten it just fine. He'd yet to see any live creatures on a menu yet, so who was he to judge the cuteness of one food source over another. "That is...I want to see that?!" Eos had very good ideas, always.

"Honestly humans make no sense to me still! I think we just need to be among them more. How long do you feel comfortable in this weird disguise? We can figure out something to do after this 'pet shop'. Maybe we can ask to see where humans like to gather when they are not at their jobs." Humans couldn't spend idle time too much differently could they? Well, maybe they could. That would be an experience, wouldn't it? What did they do for fun? "I will tell you, I am very interested in the decorations some humans use. Like her!" He excitedly pointed to a young woman who was decked out with piercings on her face, long black hair, nails, and heavy make up with a splash of color here and there. "Those metal bits in their faces. I am interested in them." The lilac haired alien did make an attempt to stop her, to try to talk to her about her looks, but he was greeted with a very odd one finger, and some words he learned were pretty nasty in human tongue. It surprised him, flustered him, and made his cheeks heat up bright pink before turning back to Tenoch with a very confused expression on his face. "Well that... was rude! How rude." He would love to sap her energy, but she wasn't willing. Either way, he changed the subject to get over how flustered he was. "We'll get more of the boba too. It is in proximity, I have heard." Did he have a map? Absolutely not. But they could wander until they saw a pet shop. Or ask someone if they looked like they would be kind enough to answer. "I have brought the plastic card with me that gets things for us magically." Thank you for that, but it still didn't make much sense to him. Eso's tongue came out to wet his lips as he scanned the shops, trying to remember where they'd gone. It took a couple of minutes, and some stopping to make sure but, the boba shop popped up first. "Would you care to place the order for us and I will give them the plastic?"

Tenoch couldn’t help but agree, with an abundance of things even, scrunched features as he nodded and considered. The disguise was off-putting, but only sometimes now. It felt like automatic breathing, he didn’t notice it until he did - and once he did? It was all he could notice. His frown easily flipped into a smile, softened for Eos bright flare for all that loves here, boundless curiosity that bolstered the other to no end. He wasn’t sure he wanted to know where they gathered - except that it’s mean more energy - so maybe it was worth gathering information on? Shift of glance at the woman who Eos bounced off towards - all innocence and verve for life - leveled the a glare at her as she turned him away with harsh tone and unpleasant gestures. Thought to return the finger - except pointing seemed to upset most humans in general. “She’s just jealous of your fingers likely, they seem to have that in spades here, odd emotions….we’ll get more boba for sure….and maybe ask some of our ‘friends’ back ‘home’ about the decorations?” because Tenoch was pleased that Eos wanted to take a piece of Earth home with him - because he thought it could’ve been pretty, if done right. Followed dog at heel, bright chatter of the other - and there - “I would enjoy that. I want the popping juice spheres, and the odd floral seed pods. Oh — do you know what you’d like?” Had learned the hard way that their kind - the aliens - detested waiting and lines; would make it fast and easy enough that they could simply swipe with the infinite plastic and go.

"Why be jealous of my fingers when she's got so many of her own?" Eso huffed slowly and looked down at his hands before looking back up at the board now that they were in the boba shop. Lilac eyes looked over the words he could sort of make out and then shook his head. Time to go off pictures. That's when he saw it. A mocha coffee boba. That looked really good. "Yes, the number 13. It looks very delicious, what do you think?" Tenoch was examined, Eso studying the others face, his birth marks, and smiled. He had his own, a slight fade at his hands, feet, and ears. It wasn't too noticeable, but he was glad that there was someone else who had just slight unnatural skin, even among their own people. Tenoch matched his own energy and that's why they were friends. Each could probably get one another in a lot of trouble if they gave into all their wandering tendencies. (Especially Eso, who did his work very well, but if he didn't have a task to focus on, his mind went everywhere, and he got into some very funny situations.) "I think the pink one would suit you." It would look really nice with his real colored skin. "It's.... straw...berry?" What a straw berry was, Eso didn't know yet, but he'd seen lots of food that color. It was almost as pink as him.

Eso was right, there was no reason to be jealous of anyone's fingers, the woman was just being odd then, or maybe she simply didn't understand their requests? Tenoch let the twinge of irritation slide off his shoulder, sloughed it free with a shrug as he got tugged along behind, into the smell and sight filled box that was the boba shop the one 'Tochi' had been so kind to show them the workings of. It meant that now they could continue to treat themselves between outtings and siphoning necessary energies for the mission. Choice overload, and Tenoch hummed, saw the numbers, colors; vast variety of things that could be added infinitely, that could be piled high. So bemused by it all that it took him a moment to notice Eso's stare -- mistook it for a moment as the examination of his human guise -- except he was sure that he had put it on before leaving -- that everything was in place and correct. Still he couldn't help the way his friends gaze made him blush, made him warm enough to rub at it before offering a comforting smile at the other. Awkward little quirk of a corner that creased his lips and nose. "You would think that pink would suit me. Mmn..." and he wouldn't have been wrong to think it. Tenoch clucked his tongue, repressed a chuckle for how Eso likely had him pegged. Bright soft colors, made him think of the sunrises, on earth, of his friends - his family within the pod of cadets. "Thirteen...and strawberry..." simple things to order -- Broken with the akwardness of doing it - of looking like he'd done it a million times before. With the plastic bit that could be tapped or chipped or slid or.....and then there was the waiting and the declining of options, because Tenoch wanted his drink like the picture and the word and nothing else, and Eso had very clearly said 13 - and so anything that was not 13 would not be considered. "I will always be surprised by the surmountable proportions of everything here." whisper of marvel as dark brown, creamy, black bead filled goodness was slid onto a counter. As his pinker than Eso basking in the daylight and little clear gummis...ly ch ee s? Cloistered up next to Eso to avoid the crowd that trickled into the store, to press the cold confection into his partner in crimes waiting hands -- "Do tell me how it tastes...I don't understand the h--....peoples...reliance on.." and what was it every comercial toted in ten thousand flavors and brews? "Coffee."

Eso took his drink, paid and then swirled the plastic cup around, fascinated by the dark boba balls at the bottom. He licked his lips and then looked to Tenoch with a child like grin, all teeth and giddiness. "Well from looks alone, it's pretty. I think so. These ..these colors are nice." He moved the straw, swirling the drink more and then finally brought it to his lips. He drew out a drink, sipping at it slowly (he choked the first time, okay!) and was delighted when several of the squishy edible spheres hit his tongue. Eso munched on them quite happily and he couldn't stop his shoulders from shaking in a happy dance. "It's so sweet and good! But it's... there's slight bitterness to it. It's delicious, Tenoch, you have to try." There was even chocolate syrup still sticking to the inside of the cup. That would be delicious once he stirred it in more. Ah, humans were fascinating with their taste buds and combinations. One hand swept purple fringe out of his face before he looked at that very pink drink his friend held. A little grin on his lips. "Sip yours, and then we'll switch and taste the others. How does that sound?" He wanted to taste all the flavors. They would definitely have to come back here and do that. Maybe make an entire day of it. They could go to the park if their stomachs filled up and walk it off or work it out. Perhaps they could play tag or something. That was a fun game. Shaking his head, Eso looked back to Tenoch and then waited patiently.

The soft smile that broke over his face, peek of a sunrise, as he nodded to Eso's suggestion. If he could've bottled that energy into a drink? Could've poured it into a source stone and used that to power his own mood into being just as bright as his pink and purple hued friend. Had to admire the way Eso was so expressive for it all - the way the drink Tenoch had been handed was just a few strawberries and purple taro whips shy of matching the same vibrancy Eso exuded beneath the false human guise. "Alright - alright - I'll try it." Put his lips to straw - always caught off guard by the large chewy spheres at the bottom, how they burst with flavor, held those in his mouth as he sucked down the rest and hummed for it. Bright - where Eso spoke of bitter notes Tenoch tasted bright fresh tang. Tasted sweet rush of sugar run over red ripeness. Couldn't explain how the creaminess complimented such a thing as grew out of the ground and came in small boxes in human stores. "It's...It tastes like you look." sly smirk that crossed the line of his smile as he offered to trade. "Here, let me see if your brown one tastes just as good as this." wasn't sure how the flavors would compliment or contrast each other, but if Eso wanted to taste them all? Then Tenoch would do his best to ensure he did.

The blush that came to Eso's face at Tenoch's words was hard and a deep red. He groaned and buried his face in his hands after he passed the drink off to the other. He couldn't say these things! Humans were really corrupting his brain. He was 100% blaming the humans for this and there was nothing anyone could do about it. He sucked in a breath and straightened himself out after grabbing hold of Tenoch's sleeve and tugging him back out into the public. "OK the 'Pet Shop' should be around here somewhere." Honestly he wasn't going to acknowledge it. Nope. He wouldn't give Tenoch the tenacity. Eso was going to be haughty. "I did some searching and they have these little tiny things that look like Mauvians, but they're just called cats? The pictures seemed to have cats behind the glass of the window, so I guess that's how we'll know." Eso had Tenoch's drink in hand until Tenoch gave his back. The actual coffee boba was was sweet. It tasted like instant coffee, chocolate syrup and ice, with normal boba balls. It was honestly so delicious to Eso, just a bit bitter.

Query of a brow around puckered lips, Tenoch sucked on Eso’s liquid treat a snack sighed for the sip of dark bitter notes that danced across his tongue and chased away the sweet tartness of strawberries. Wondered if Eso’s guise was malfunctioning. A fluctuation of the color palette that graced his features so… Tenoch found he liked it, how it made Eso look more like Eso — for all that the guise was also a variety of him? Hummed high as he got tugged along at the elbow, Quit his sipping between the one and other enough to sigh as he quick stepped along behind his friend. “I barely understand the mauvians, let alone their.. pet counterparts.” And Eso wondered if any mauvian worth their filet would’ve taken offense to that? To being perceived as ‘pet’ and ‘human kept’ Chewed boba and — “I’ll never understand why they keep these sorts of things..I cannot decide if people like having an abundance of life forms to care for genuinely, or if they simply enjoy control? It is..maybe a little concerning.” nearly stepped on Eso as they neared the destined store — bright letters— glass windows— squealing children of the large humans lined outside..

It seemed they found their destination. Eso hummed and shrugged to his friend's questions. Honestly humans were something he probably would never fully understand. Maybe they'd figure it out here. They could get their questions answered. They were going to be claiming the truth, that they are 'not pet owners' and have never owned pets before. They also didn't grow up with them. So, they had lots of questions. It was easy enough to remember, and he hoped no one would try to delve deeper into that. They shouldn't. Humans were making a profit off this store, so they would want them to buy. Therefore they'd be pleasant! That's how it'd been so far. Though the shrill screams of these children made him blanch and one of his ears to start ringing. He didn't like that pitch at all. He took his boba up to his lips and sipped again, stopping a bit away from the outskirts of the small crowd and sighed. Well, he didn't expect it to be packed. That was interesting. Were lots of people getting animals to enslave then? His head canted to one side in thought before looking to the other and shrugged. "It seems lines are just the way of humans. I suppose we should join them?"

The first note Itztenoch was taking of these people, this place? Was the noise, the loudness, and the smells, the unorganized chaos and inevitably cluttered system of filing people into crowds that looked nothing at all like lines! He winced for each new shrill squeak, and then tried to sternly smother it down into something that was only passively annoyed rather than alarmed. Had he ever been this loud when small? He swore he' hadn't -- he'd had things to do other than sprint about the busy adults in his life and scream nonsense.... "Oh, are those? I don't even understand some of these 'Animals'...Eso..." and from the window he could see piles of sleeping small nosed barkers with floppy ears and wagging tails; tugging his braid firmly behind his shoulder as he nudged a gap in the line for himself and Eso to enter, and spotted even more -- in cages, and pens, and small plastic circles behind glass endlessly running. Tenoch didn't even have names for some of the creatures there! With their soft large eyes and unique calls..."Eso...it's an entire prison of wildlife for viewing..what..." brought his voice to a hush as he looked for information to explain the phenome before him. Maybe a pamphlet? OR something other than a bored looking attendant with a name tag and numerous signs with hands and red x/s over them.
