Hobbies:
- Reading -- This became more of a hobby after spending time with the sort of people who also read too much. Lucien almost always reads before going to bed so Sumi usually curls up by his shoulder to read too. He enjoys getting to snuggle with Lucien while also getting to enjoy a good book. It’s a relaxing way to spend time and since there’s a lot he hasn’t read he tends to do so while Lucien is off at work or elsewhere too. He can often be found asleep on top of a book.
Cuddling -- Sumi has turned cuddling into an artform. Since he’s the perfect size for snuggling and overly fluffy everyone who runs into him (that likes cats) can’t help but want to scratch his tummy and play with his fur. He enjoys the attention so will happily curl up in a lap or on someone’s chest when given the chance. Lucien also spent quite a bit of time alone so he perfected being the warm, living, thing there with him when he had his darker days. He likes being able to make someone else feel better and kitty cuddles almost always do the trick even if it’s just in a small way.
Gardening -- A hard hobby to have in the city but while Lucien does not have a green thumb Sumi does. He keeps a little window box of herbs along with some ferns and succulents that stay inside. He tends all of his plants carefully making sure they have the right water and right sunlight. If pressed he’ll even admit that they’ve all been given names too. He hopes that one day he’ll be able to have a proper garden to tend but is okay with what he can have.
Pros:
- "Mother Henning is my game" Carring -- Sumi has always liked being the shoulder, or furry tummy, to cry on. He likes being able to make people feel better and likes taking care of them when they need someone. Nothing else quite gives him the warm fuzzies like being able to make someone smile. He usually gets dubbed the ‘mother hen’ and he’s perfectly happy with that. He’s got a soft spot for grumpy people too and often attaches himself to them so they at least have someone they can be less grumpy around.
"Don’t give me that Zen nonsense" Calm -- Sumi rarely if ever gets angry about anything. He’s always been very laid back and since he prefers to be nice rather than mean he’s developed a habit of being the levelheaded one around. It takes quite a bit to shake him up and that helps those he’s around since they know they always have someone who’ll be able to keep their cool. There is a limit to his zen but so far only a handful of people and situations have managed to push him past that line.
"Hands Off!" Protective -- Because Sumi tends to form strong bonds and get quite attached to those he likes he can also be very protective of them. Sometimes over protective. He’s a little too small and delicate in his bipedal form to really be threatening to anyone but that doesn’t mean that he won’t try. His friends and family are important to him and he’ll do what he can to make sure they stay safe and happy even if that means putting himself in danger.
Cons:
- "Fragile as spun glass" Weak -- Despite his want and desire to be able to protect those he loves and take care of them Sumi’s always been a bit of a weakling. He was sick often as a little one and he never really grew out of it. Even as an adult he’s stayed small and delicate and no amount of training or trying to make himself stronger has done any good. He hasn’t quite resigned himself to his fate yet but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to change any time soon. This means he is rarely alone as he’s always afraid that something will happen to him and he’ll get hurt where no one can find him to help him.
"Don’t forget your sweater" Nagging -- Sumi wants to make sure that his friends are always well taken care of and sometimes he goes just a little too far. He always has to check and double check whether everyone’s got what they need and that they’re okay and that they don’t need anything else from him. Some people get used to this but most tend to find it annoying after a while. He does try to not be annoying as much as he can but sometimes in trying to not be annoying he can end up being even more so.
"Tuesday … i think." Forgetful -- Because Sumi spends a lot of his time at home reading and taking care of his plants he doesn’t have the best memory for what’s going on around him. He often loses track of time and what people tell him. He’s easy enough to distract and if he’s told to do two different things there’s a good chance that he’s going to do one and completely forget that the other even existed. He’s tried keeping notebooks and lists but somehow he manages to forget to put things on those too or he just ends up losing the notebook somewhere in the piles of ones Lucien keeps as well.
