Kyril found herself wandering about in the market. The hybrid had taken the day off so that she could attend an exhibit in the city that morning and now she honestly didn't know what to do with the rest of her day. Did she go back to the shop to work with her mentor or did she enjoy her time outside of the smoldering workshop? Kyril made a face as she pondered her options before shaking her head. Maybe it would be best to just enjoy the day. It was nice out and there seemed to be a crowd of people already gathered around the marketplace. It was a different feeling from the art gallery that she had browsed earlier, most of the attendees artists or nobles with a much more reserved attitude than the carefree, energetic nature of the younglings running about now. Apparently some sort of small event was going on in the lower markets with colorful banners hanging up and even a puppet show for those wanting to watch. Some games and the like dotted the square as well while Kyril glanced about with surprise.
A festival for On'os? Kyril tilted her head as she studied one of the games and a small smile crossed her lips. It seemed most of the games were luck based to celebrate the god of fortune while others had additional time restraints to remind the participants about the importance of time. He was after all the god of time and fortune both, not simply the god of luck. "What do you think, miss?" A boy called out to her as he held up a pair of dice. "Want to try your hand and win a prize?"
Kyril smiled thoughtfully. "We'll see." Should she actually linger here and maybe see about winning some of those toys for her younger siblings? They did seem rather colorful and fun...something she was certain the boys would like while maybe she could actually try her hand at the riskier games for more ornate decorative prizes.

Her mothers had insisted that she join in the festivities meant for those around her age.. but it was just so chaotic! With a light parasol protecting her from the heat of the sun, Zuribali strolled by the festival stalls with a critical eye. Despite her youth, she was quite aware of value of quality items and was set on making sure she only got the best. While other younglings ran around with cotton dolls and wooden swords, Zuri's doll wore silk and her tiny dagger was blunted metal. She would accept nothing but the best.
Her cyan eyes lit up when she saw one stall's main prize; a gorgeously ornate hourglass. She had to have it! Naturally, the game was one of the more difficult ones to play... "I would like to win, please," she stated confidently, holding out some money to the stall runner.
The man started to reach for the money, but stuttered to a halt when he took in the girl's image. Nose wrinkling, he leaned back and crossed his arms defiantly.

"Does she need an adult?" Kyril appeared above the youngling, her golden gaze blazing as she stared down the stall owner and placed her own coin on the counter. "It would be a shame if a youngling can't enjoy a game meant for everyone." The hybrid spoke with authority and from the expensive silks that she wore it wasn't as if she were someone to be taken lightly or at least Kyril hoped it seemed that way. She tapped her fingers against the stall almost threateningly as she had a stare down with the man until finally he let out a sigh and took the coins.
"Now how do you play?" She glanced down towards the youngling, doing her best not to let her surprise show now that she was truly studying her unique features. What type of heritage did this little one have? Kyril knew Obans could be prickly towards hybrids but it seemed this little one definitely stood out more than others. Still, at least she could hold her ground and offer a couple of coins to help change the stall runner's mind - even if he obviously didn't like it.

Zuri's fingers pinched around the coins, lips curling against the sting of rejection. She thought that she should be used to it by now, but it still managed to get under her skin; especially during times when she was supposed to be enjoying herself. Did the man really have to go ruining it? Still, she kept her arm held out, waiting for him to accept the coin. Everyone loved money, so surely...
She looked up with surprise when someone approached her side. Was this woman.. here to help? Oh, she was a hybrid, too! Zuri couldn't help grinning when the man took the other's money, looking up at the woman in awe. She was totally fine saving her own funds, and it was nice to see the game runner squirm. When the attention went to herself, Zuri stood as tall as she could and gave a curtsy at the same time. "Thank you for your assistance." She snapped the parasol shut and pointed a long finger toward the game. "You throw the rings into the tubes, but the tubes have those spikes on the end that might catch the rings. If it's caught on a spike, it doesn't count." The task was made extra difficult with the tubes being barely big enough to fit the rings, and it had the spikes angled slightly in. "I remember it from last year. It's hard."

"You're most welcome." Honestly Kyril was puzzled over the appearance of the child but as a hybrid herself she was not one to judge. The parasol and the manners made her wonder if the youngling had been born to a wealthier family, but Kyril was surprised they would allow their daughter out and about alone like this. At least I can keep her company. It worked out nicely so that she could have an excuse to check out the games as well.
"Is it?" Kyril listened to the explanation and gave a slight nod. "It does seem rather challenging, doesn't it? I'll watch you and see how it works." She smiled supportively as she stood next to the youngling.

Zuri took a deep breath and nodded, and plucked up the rings with determination. With the angles and the thick rings, it seemed like it was almost impossible to score any points. She had seen it done though! It could be done! She let out a slow breath and flicked her wrist. All five rings were gently tossed one at a time, and all five rings caught on various spikes. She glared when the stall runner gave an amused snort, but then returned her attention to the other hybrid. "See? It's hard."

"Hmm." Kyril pursed her lips thoughtfully before sliding more coins over towards the vendor with a glare. If they had to buy a basket of rings then so be it! "I suppose we can work at it together if you'd like?" She offered with a small smile towards the youngling, her fingers curling around one of the thick rings. Kyril twisted her wrist this way and that as if testing the weight and feel of the material before giving a practice toss towards the game, the ring spinning around and around until it caught on a spike as well. Festival games were usually tough, but even Kyril was having trouble trying to figure out this one! Maybe if Cahira was here or another of her siblings...they were probably better than her at this. Still, it didn't stop Kyril from wanting to try.
"We have a few more so maybe it's just how we flick our wrists." She advised the youngling with a confident nod even though she wasn't actually that confident. However! She was not about to go down without a fight, something Kyril promised as she shot the vendor another look before handing a ring towards the youngling. "I believe in you."

With a hopeful smile, Zuri nodded and leaned close to watch the adult's technique. Yet, even the woman's attempts were ending the same way. Oh, it just wasn't fair! Games shouldn't be this difficult! Why would anyone find something difficult as fun? It was simply frustrating.
Lips pursing, she accepted the ring and gave the tubes a doubtful look. But then.. She... believed in her? Zuri looked at the adult with another round of awe and delight. Few others aside from her mothers said such a thing! She puffed up with the praise and looked at the tubes with fresh determination. She gave it a toss... and it went smoothly into the tube. She let out a shriek of joy before catching herself, her cheeks heating up bashfully. She turned to the stall runner and pointd to the hourglass. "I want that!"
The stall runner smirked sharply. "Are you kidding? That's the top prize. You have to get four rings in for that one."

"Congrats!" Kyril clapped her hands together in excitement before hearing the vendor's statement. Her lips pressed into a tight line of annoyance before she tossed a ring over and watched as it went smoothly into a tube as well. "Two more to go then." She commented, raising her chin defiantly at the vendor before glancing at the youngling. "And if we don't win this then I can assure you that I'll craft you the prettiest hourglass ever though I think we can do this. Either way no pressure and have fun, okay?" She added assuredly with a playful wink towards the youngling. "We'll take five more rings, sir." She ordered to the disgruntled stall runner before placing three in front of the youngling and keeping two on hand for herself.

Zuri couldn't help how her pout turned into a giggle of delight when she saw the second ring sail into the tube. Two more.... Her brow rose with surprise at the offer though. She could have one made for her? It would surely be better than anything being given away at a silly festival, but she still wanted to try wiping that smirk off of the man's face. "It's too much work to be fun," she groused, tossing a ring that easily caught a spike.
She closed her eyes and tried to remember how she had thrown the previous ring. Calm, focus... She tossed and gasped when the ring bounced off of a few spikes and into a different tube. She tried to do the same with the third.. but she was too eager and the ring bounced off of the other end. Biting her lip, she turned to her new companion and held her hands to her chest. "It's up to you! ...but I plan to commission a new hourglass from you no matter what!"

"Fair enough." A laugh escaped Kyril's lips as she pointedly ignored the grumpy stall keeper and instead watched the youngling tossing her rings. "Another!" She grinned before her expression fell at the bouncing ring. Oh please don't leave it up to me. She prayed before watching the last one bounce away as well. The hybrid took a deep breath before flicking the first ring from her hands. It spun and spun and almost landed until it decided to bounce that final time right onto a spike. Kyril winced before shaking her head and glancing towards the youngling with a small smile. "I may have to create two for you..." She teased lightly before staring at the final ring. Kyril took another deep breath as she twisted her wrist and prepared to toss their final shot. Even if the prize could be easily replicated by the artisan it was definitely more of a personal vendetta at this point to get the prize this way from the vendor.
"Alright." Kyril's gaze opened with a flash of gold and she tossed the ring for all it was worth. The ring spun through the air, a faint breeze almost seemingly directing it before the ring fell into one of the tubes. Kyril found herself releasing a breath of surprise before coughing into a hand to cover it up. "We'll take that prize!" She declared while holding out her hand to the flustered stall keeper.

Zuri was holding her breath without realizing it, watching the rings closely. It was bad enough that she had missed, but if the adult could- Her lips pressed tight with the first ring catching on the spike, though her breath remained trapped in her chest. The second ring... Another squeal of delight rang out when the ring slipped into the tube, though this one was harder to smother. Her whole body was vibrating with delight while watching the woman take charge. They'd done it!!!
The hourglass was reluctantly handed over to the woman, Zuri's eyes locked on it the whole time. She reached her hands up, but then suddenly remembered her manners. "Thank you so much, miss," she exclaimed, giving a little curtsy again. "My name is Zuribali. Please let me know where your shop is so can can properly repay you with an order for something pretty!"

She was too adorable. Kyril could only think of her wilder siblings with a soft chuckle. "You're welcome, Zuribali." She answered with a polite nod in return. "My name is Kyril and you can find me in the artisan district." She gestured in the general direction that led towards the district nestled slightly north of the markets. It was a few blocks away but not so far that it was impossible to navigate from the markets.
"Honeslty it was a pleasure to help you win that prize. " She added as she shot the stall keeper a final glare before leading the youngling a few steps away. "If you're truly grateful why not keep me company a bit longer? I don't like wandering these festivals alone. Is there anything else you wanted to do around here?"

"Kyril in the artisan district." Zuri said it a few more times in her head before nodding. She knew her mothers would love to meet this woman! If Kyril really could make hourglasses... there were surely other lovely things available to look at as well!
With a haughty grin at the disgruntled stallman, Zuri snapped her parasol back open. Looks like he was put into his place!
The offer was a bit of a surprise, but no less delightful for it. "I would be glad to keep you company, Miss Kyril!" On'os really was the god of fortune to bring Kyril to her side today! A delicate finger rose to tap on her pink lips. "I'm thirsty, but maybe we could find another game to win after that!" Well, it looked like it would be a fun festival after all!

"Mmhmm. My mentor owns the workshop but I'll let her know that Zuribali gets a special discount." Replied Kyril with a warm smile. "My mentor is really good at crafting things as well but I'll make certain to leave you an hourglass if I'm not around when you get the visit." She watched the girl snap her parasol back open with amusement. One needed that much spunk in order to survive Oba as a hybrid she felt. It was definitely encouraging to see that the little one could hold her head so high.
"Oh good!" Kyril smiled. "Then we shall get something to drink. What do you prefer? Tea, water or something else?" She couldn't offer the finer things that were being offered to older participants but there were several shops around, including one that sold a variety of spiced teas. "That one has some of my favorites with a rich chai that they add some cream too. It's spicy and sweet."
