Belmont had promised to be careful and he was--which meant, he was still powering up very rarely, and very carefully. He’d taken his self defense classes--and when he’d completed one course, he’d taken another, and he was on his third one already and it had rapidly become a hobby he enjoyed. It was great for burning out energy, just--he couldn’t burn out enough.
And, he couldn’t help how much he enjoyed the rush of powering up.
Naturally, when he had some free time, he was tempted to do so and just do a quick patrol.
...Tonight, he had free time.
And, someone else must have, too.
He felt her energy signature on his radar--good, and friendly--so he thought, of course he should approach it! It was safer if they stuck together, right?
Just in case something happened?
He found Keiko in the park, and he breathed a sigh of relief when she was dressed in white--a color he had come to associate with good senshi.
“Hey,” he called, and raised a hand to wave as he approached. “Belmont,” he introduced. “You come around these parts often?”

Keiko had felt the aura, as well as a strange pull towards...something. She had no idea what it was, but she wasn’t sure she wanted to go and find out...it would be so much easier to pretend she hadn’t felt anything and just...go home none the wiser, but then the holder of the aura approached her...and seemed to be trying to pull a pick up line in the guise of Tarzan.
Slowly, Keiko turned, her brows raised in some confusion, some amusement. “Uh...No? I mean. Sometimes I guess. Your name is Belmont? I’m Keiko. Uh. Taken too, in case you were hitting on me, and if not, sorry for assuming.”
But she wasn’t really sorry.
“...You’re not a senshi.” It was a great observation. He didn’t feel like chaos, obviously...so.
“You’re a knight then? I’ve never met one before. I am a senshi. Keiko, of the Yuki Onna. Nice to meet you.”

“That I am, yes,” Belmont confirmed, but seemed a bit surprised that her first assumption might be that he was hitting on her. “Did I give you that impression? You’re lovely, I mean, but I’m not that forward. I was just out patrolling. I’ve been feeling restless, recently.”
He wasn’t sure if there was some way to dismiss the strange tugging on his mind, or the way his heart had recently started to pound like it was demanding he get out there and do something.
“Was sort of wondering if that was because I wasn’t being a very good Knight or if I needed to do more to live up to someone’s expectations of me. I’m still a bit new to this, sorry. Can I ask what ‘Yuki Onna’ is, or is that rude?”

Keiko snorted. “Oh come on. ‘You come here often’? You literally used one of the most over used pick up lines in the book, and yet you seem you’re surprised that I thought you were hitting on me?” She couldn’t help but grin though, it was almost funny. No, it was funny.
“Ah, not a very good knight, meet not a very good senshi. I’m a slacker and only just started patrolling for...mm...rather selfish reasons if all must be said. I’m not really new to it, but I’m the senshi who would go out like, twice a year...so. New enough.”
Ah. He wanted to know about her sphere? Well. She could do that. “It’s a Japanese Demon who manifests as a beautiful woman who enjoys freezing people. It’s obviously a little more complicated than that, but that’s the general idea.”
Keiko chewed on her lip for a moment and hesitated. “Can I ask something stupid? Do you...feel something…off about…” She waved a hand vaguely in the air. “...Everything? Like, right now?”

Belmont snorted and managed to laugh at himself. “Oh. Well. Miss ‘Senshi of a beautiful woman’, yes, I can see how I might have seemed like I was coming onto you. But I actually wanted to know if you came here often, I’m trying to figure out where I should be patrolling and what I should be doing.”
He looked like he could have laughed more, but he wasn’t quite embarrassed.
And, it was easy to be distracted by the strange tugging.
“I don’t think your question is stupid, though. Something’s been, I don’t know. It’s a different tug than usual. I thought it was just me being restless. I can’t tell what’s ‘normal’ and what’s not. All of this still feels weird,” he sighed. “Would you rather me ask if you want to go check it out, or ask what’s got you selfishly patrolling?”

A tug. Had he seriously just called it a tug?
“No, let’s go and check it out. Because I've been feeling like something is tugging me too, and since you used the same wording...obviously that has to mean something.” Keiko sounded relieved and possibly a little spooked by it, though she snorted. “Beautiful and deadly woman. Some legends have her seducing men so that she can freeze them. So I’d watch your mouth if I were you.”
Even if he hadn’t mentioned the tug though...there was no way she’d just start talking about the corrupt that she was seeing and sleeping with. That wasn’t his business by any stretch of the imagination.
“...Do you think this might be a trap or something though? I’ve never...dealt with...random tugging sensations.”
...Though he might not have either...ah well. At least she wouldn't be alone if it was a trap.

”...I really hope not,” he admitted. “...I guess we can follow whatever it is and if it looks too shady just head back? Maybe we’ll find someone on the way who can tell us what’s going on. I’ve gotten lucky before and run into someone whenever I needed to, so…”
He could feel the pull, practically demanding his attention, and looked off to the distance.
There was nothing there--no clues, no answers.
But, he couldn’t help this raw curiosity that scraped at the back of his mind.
“If we go, the two of us, we’re safer in numbers, yeah? And if anyone gives us a hard time, you can just seduce and freeze them. And I’ll…” he looked at his weapon--just a broken hilt.
“...Stand there and look pretty.”

Keiko snorted in a very unladylike manner. “As all boys do, I assure you! But, you are right. There will be safety in numbers, and if things turn south, I’ll just trip you, freeze the enemies and then make a run for it. Easy peasy.”
She stuck her tongue out and laughed again. “Nah. Seriously tough. I’m game if you are.” In fact...now that they were going to investigate, the tug didn’t seem so bad any longer...or that might have just been her imagination.
Most likely her imagination.
“Then, let’s go find some adventure, Belmont. I promise I’ll keep you safe~ Unless of course, you’re the trap, in which case I will happily freeze you with little or no seduction.”
