Giulia had never before gone to her homeworld. She had always been kind of scared to, honestly, and there had been no real reason for the Chibi to go exploring there. She had gone to other homeworlds, of course- she had visited Ara, and Scylla, and Caliban, and some Wonders, and the Moon! But there was something about the thought of going to Charybdis that intimidated the pre-teen; always had, ever since she had first Awakened. She had only been seven years old, but now she was eleven, and when she was fourteen she could maybe be considered an adult senshi, if she worked hard, and learned, and stuff?
What would her homeworld be like, she had wondered only briefly, before casting it aside. There were probably just a bunch of boring like… rocks, and water and stuff. Charybdis was, after all, the senshi of SEALS. What had Pinnipeds ever done for anyone except get hunted for fur and blubber by Indigenous Peoples in the arctic and stuff, and eaten by Polar Bears, and Orcas, and Sharks? Though a walrus could kill a polar bear. That was pretty awesome of them. Also kind of scary.
Sitting in her bedroom, Giulia rolled her senshi phone back and forth, before closing her eyes- and pressing the button. Pull the trigger. Get it over with.
She entered a world that was… dark. It was cold, and it was damp, and it was… whistling. There was wind whistling through something, and bringing with it the smell of water, and something mildewy. Gross. Charybdis shoved forward, pushing her way past something that fell to pieces at her touch, falling all over her like dust and cobwebs while she squealed and wished she had put her hood up over her curls, and ugh, she needed a shower, and this was terrible, and-
Stumbled through the rag, squealing like she had been stabbed, not just dusted, Charybdis wailed and knocked into something, tripping and feeling the flesh over her shin tear, warm blood dripping down her leg as she decided this had all been the worst idea. And as she tripped over something else, feet going over her head as she seemed to start rolling down a sheer- was she rolling down a cliff?!?!?! Was this- “NO!” she wailed desperately, as she finally came to a halt, bruised and battered and almost in tears.
Sitting up, Charybdis managed to get the rag- an ancient, tattered sealskin- off of her head, and busy her hands dusting her hair. And wiping the grit from her eyes, Charybdis opened them to see light. Above her the whole sky was one large Aurora, the entire expanse shimmering with hundreds of points of light, shifting and sparkling with dozens of different colors. Tall walls of ice and snow around her glistened blindingly bright, the aurora refracting off of the faceted snow packed densely together, casting rainbows everywhere.
“Is this Narnia?” she wondered, and pushed up to her feet, staring out ahead of her and further down- she had gotten lucky to land where she had, for below her was an expanse of nothing but rainbow-hued white. Water lapping up and freezing in the cold before it finished falling, tearing and falling like crystals, floes and bergs of blue and crystal-clear ice. A mountain range made of ice- glaciers, she supposed- seemed to circle a large building made of pure crystal. It was… magical. Including the fact that deep in the crater below seemed to be an igloo palace, which defied basically every stereotype she could think of about how Greeks all had pillars and Igloos were all circles.
This was hers? Giulia thought again, and grabbed at the last bit of the dusty, sad sealskin. She needed to get closer. She needed to meet… home.
