[ Sorin 1 ]
Sorin was taking a break from watching his sister, their travels taking them farther away from his home in Tale. It had been awhile since he was by himself, so he didn't realize the pangs were homesickness and not hunger. Not one to show off such emotions, he decided to instead explore the area and get a good feel for the people and the places. It was, after all, his duty from his mother. To keep an eye on his sister and keep her safe.
As he wandered, he stumbled upon a memorial of sorts. Pausing, he took a moment to reflect on the space, trying to determine what such a memorial was for. Was it for the big war before he was born? Or maybe something else?
((I forgot where this takes place, so keeping it vague!))

Elyessi I think somewhere along Jahaur would be ok? Sorry for the delay! Lutana adored finding the oddities in life and investigating what most avoided. Her interest in the life beyond always made her curious about what happened once a person passed and the girl never hesitated to check out memorials when she noticed them. It was almost scholarly to learn about those who had lived in these areas before, even gathering stories if she found anyone connected to the departed in the nearby settlements as her family traveled throughout Tendaji. While she had never truly lost someone dear to her personally, Lutana always made a habit of studying a memorial site and leaving trinkets such as flowers for those who had passed. Who knew if there was even someone around to remember these spirits after all?
Today though she found someone else pondering a memorial site and Lutana actually found herself hesitating before walking forward. "Was it someone you knew?" She asked quietly before kneeling down and laying a bundle of flowers at the site. The young hybrid had noticed the area earlier that day and had taken the time to gather some flowers before returning to the spot so that she could pay her respects to the lost. Now that someone else was actually here she found herself even more interested. What if they had stories to share? She did so enjoy hearing about the lives of others after all.

A little lost in his thoughts, Sorin was caught off guard by the soft voice of the approaching girl. Still, he didn't jump or gasp, but instead turned with a smile that seemed to not quite fit his tall and bulky stature. Some of his siblings called it a dumb face meant to lull others into a false sense of security - he really just tried his best to be friendly to everyone he met - it was easier that way.
He watched as she kneeled down and left flowers there, moving slightly away to give her space, "Maybe? I doubt it though unless they were from Tale." he replied with a shrug.

"People travel all over so perhaps you crossed their path despite their origins." Teased Lutana quietly as she studied the memorial. The girl's lips pursed as she crouched and traced the rough writing with a finger, her finger pausing on the familiar name for Serin. If they were entrusting the spirit to the moon goddess then it made sense that the person must have been a local. "It looks like it was probably a shifter though considering the writing." She tucked a stray curl behind an ear before turning towards the stranger. If he didn't know the lost soul then was he simply wandering along like she was? Lutana blinked thoughtfully before backing away from the memorial.
"It's always interesting to see how others pay their respects." She commented quietly as she glanced towards the boy. "Even if I don't know the person I always try to leave something just in case there's no one else to honor them."

It was nice to think of it that way, that no one was a stranger if you've crossed paths with them, and that Tendaji was more interconnected than they realized. Sorin smiled in response to those night thoughts, even if Lutana meant them more as a tease or jest.
He leaned a little closer to look at where she touched, not quite reading the language of the locals. When she turned, he moved back a step to give her space, as was typical for the bulky boy.
"b]That's really thoughtful." he hoped that when he passed on, someone like her would pay respects. Though most likely he'd end up in his family's graveyard with generation upon generations honoring them.

Lutana blinked in surprise before glancing over at the boy. "Thank you." She smiled to show her appreciation for his support. "Most may consider it a bit macabre but I find it hard to ignore such things." She always had a fascination for what was next, perhaps it was somehow connected with her apprenticeship where she was learning how to read tealeaves and the like, but either way Lutana wanted to respect those who had gone on before them.
"I've not been to Tale so much. Do they do the same things there? I hear some cultures burn their kin out to sea instead of leaving them in the ground." She mused as she glanced towards the boy with curiosity.

He didn't really know what macabre meant, it sounded like those arts and crafts his mother had him do as a kid. He didn't really understand why anyone would call what she was doing as crafty, but didn't have a chance to question her on his own confusion. The conversation moved on before he could dig in.
"Well we don't really have any seas out there. It really depends on the tribes. Each tribe in Tale has their own leader, so they follow their own rules." He offered helpfully, "Then there's families like mine who live and die on the land they were born."

"I see." Lutana nodded her head. "So your family seems very settled then." She smiled towards the leaf earthling. Lutana could only imagine what that must be like since her family roamed across different countries with no set place in mind. Not that she minded - the girl rather preferred to wander about instead of simply staying in one location.
"I guess those in your family don't have to worry about being forgotten then since their descendants stay in the same area and can keep honoring their memories. I'm not quite so certain what will happen to my family since we wander everywhere instead." Lutana studied the boy before holding out a hand in greeting. If they were going to keep talking like this then it would only make sense to learn each other's names. "I'm Lutana."

He let out a chuckle and scratched his head, "Yeah...you could say that." His family was settled so deep that their roots were what helped Tendaji float in the sea. Or so he was led to believe as a child. He still wasn't sure if it were true or not.
At her next comment, he simply added, "You can't be forgotten if you make a big enough impact." His family was basically based on that. Whereas there were tribes across Tale, his parents decided to modernize, and it made a statement.
"I'm Sorin." He finally said with a big smile, holding out his hand.

A delighted life escaped Lutana. " That's a wonderful philosophy." She complimented with a smile. " Hopefully a positive impact, right? It would be a shame to be remembered horribly by so many." But knowing that one could simply do something so tremendous that it would be remembered in history instead of solely relying on family to pass along your name? That would be interesting indeed! " Nice to meet you Sorin." Lutana's smile brightened as she shook the man's hand. " I suppose then if you aren't here for the memorial then may I ask why you're so far away from Tale?" Jahaur wasn't where she would expect to find someone who seemed to have such strong roots in another country. It made Lutana curious and she was always one for a story.

He was happy to hear her laugh, and decided it was a great philosophy. Maybe something he needed to live by.
"Of course, I don't really think a negative impact is one I'd want to live by." He added with a little chuckle. Though he knew a lot of villains were memorable, but not for the reasons he wanted. He couldn't imagine the shame.
"Oh, I'm here accompanying my sister. She's traveling for work." He replied simply, "Are you visiting?"

Lutana laughed. "Glad to hear that." She would be worried if he wanted to leave a negative impact! Still it was nice to be able to laugh about such things. It lightened the mood for her despite their earlier discussion and her thoughts about the memorials. Lutana's expression warmed as she studied Sorin. "That sounds interesting. My family likes to roam and we have connections in Jahaur so here I am. I also am apprenticing under an older shifter nearby who focuses in tea though that was unexpected. I'm learning a lot about the art of teamaking from her." Lutana explained with a small smile.

"Tea?" He asked slowly, "Do you have any samples? I think my sister would love that!" His grin was goofy, "Sounds like a great practice to go into..."
He wasn't a big tea drinker, but he knew quite a few of his family members were.
"If you'd like, I can escort you to where you need to go, and maybe you can tell me all about the art of teamaking."
He was happy for the company, and was starting to feel a little like he's overstayed his welcome. But getting to know a new friend was always nice, especially if it was someone who could teach him something new.

"That sounds like a lovely idea." Lutana smiled as she walked up to Sorin and took his arm. "It's a smaller place just near town. I'll give you plenty of tea samples as a thanks for walking me back." She replied honestly before giving the memorial site one final glance. It was nice to have shared the moment with someone else for a change. She just hoped that there were others that would come to the spot and remember to leave flowers on occasion. That would be nice indeed.
