[ Svadra 1 ]

Svadra was wandering through the city, something he normally did when he wasn't at his lessons in the art of war. And it was a bit of an art for the young adult. It was a beautiful dance the way his mothers described it, and he couldn't help but enjoy the lessons of how to navigate a true battlefield and the battlefield that was the social structure of Oba.

More and more as he went down this path, he began to feel his true path was somewhere more. And now, as the entire country mourned the loss of the warriors of the past, Svadra felt the pressure to become more of a protector than a bystander. Just like his mothers.

[ Omria 1 ]

The young aristocrat was with her family, or most of her family, attending the mass mourning of Oba. It was something normal based on her perception, as she was born after the war, but from what she heard it was a pretty new practice brought on by the new king. It was a way for Obans to remember the cost of their greed and malice, and many saw it as a tool to keep those more extreme in line with the peaceful message of their leaders.

Omria mostly saw it as a sad event that she didn't feel full attachment to. Sure, her father's side of the family was military, but most of them were leaders, not really front line men and women who fell to wars. Some of her ancestors did sacrifice their lives, but all in all she never felt the stress of her family risking their lives.

She could count on them always coming home, as they always did.

[ Svadra 2 ]

As with every gathering like this, the pressure of the crowd only added to the heat. Svadra was getting taller by the day, or so it seemed, and stood out tall amongs the earthlings around him. Every so often he caught sight of another Aishan or Aishan hybrid, but mostly it was him lingering taller than most. It was exhausting, but at leas this skin helped him blend in enough to ward off most of the stares.

So away from he crowd he lingered, waving his fan quickly to ward off the heat.

She wasn't sure what to expect beside the weight of the moment, but seeing a tall person around her age was not it. She had seen a few hybrids in the past, but none with such dark skin that matched her own. They must have been an Alkidike hybrid, which was a bit ironic considering this memorial was for the great Aishan war up in Jauhar.

Glancing about and not seeing her family, she decided it was worth approaching, and casually walked up to the interesting creature who oozed lavishness. This seemed like her type of person, so why hadn't she seen them around. Surely she would have recognized them had they met.

Svadra might have appeared disinterested, but he was keenly aware of the petite woman approaching him. He had to be aware, it was not only part of his training, but something he developed with all the glares and stares he got growing up. As she entered his bubble, he snapped his fan shut and looked down with his unique eyes, evaluating the girl for a long moment.

"Hello."

"Oh, hello!" She said brightly, moving closer to the tall boy as he decided to greet her. She smiled up at him, her bright eyes quickly looking over his outfit and the accessories, before she decided to relax and just linger near him.

"I'm surprised I haven't seen you around, you look like you'd be in the same circles as me. I'm Omria."

He too took a moment to evaluate the girl next to him. She was a bit younger than him, which meant they probably didn't interact too much in the same spheres. He mostly kept to fighting and those his age, and she seemed like one who might enjoy spending time with his sisters.

"Svadra." He said with a snap of his fan, holding out a hand to shake her own in greeting.

She took his hand and was surprised at the feel of it. Clearly he wasn't just an aristocrat with how worn his palms were. Letting it go, she leaned back a little to look up at his face, surprised he didn't reply but not too worried about it.

Instead, after one last examination, she turned back to look out to the crowd.

"Really is somber...isn't it?" She said softly.

It was, wasn't it? Svadra began to fan himself again, looking out at the people who mourned loved ones lost generations ago. He knew this was something that impacted his mother's greatly, the history of the war between Earthlings and Aishans. But he was proof that the war was long gone, and peace was here to stay. Or so he hoped.

"It is. Makes me a little grateful that I wasn't here when it happened. That my mothers survived."

"Yeah..." She replied slowly, "My father's family was part of the war." She said it casually, her energy being pulled down a bit by the atmosphere around them, "I've heard a few stories..but most of them are saved for my brothers."

Shrugging a bit, she let out a bit of a sigh, "Makes me sad and all. But proud too."

[ Svadra 6 ]

He raised a brow slowly toward the girl, looking at her as he covered his face with the fan. His bi-colored eyes were sharp, standing out against his dark skin and even darker fade.

"Proud?" He asked slowly, "Of the way Obans of our past sought to wage wars and domineer it's neighbors?"

She felt her cheeks burn at the question, before she began to bristle at the accusations. She didn't like how people judged her for her past, even if there was a dark mark on her family. She was too young to accept such things, so she instead glared at him.

"Proud of their desire to protect the world, and to stand up against the oppressors of the war. We've changed, we're peaceful and our new kind wants to protect everyone. If Aishans can change, so can we."

[ Svadra 7 ]

He continued to cover his face as she watched her reaction, hiding his smirk at how riled up she got. When she was done, he let the silence linger a long moment before he began to fan himself again.

"Aishans don't celebrate war heroes. How many people here do you think celebrate the lost heroes of ages past? The ones who conquered others? I assure you, there are many Obans who never want change, unless it's change to go back to the 'golden age'."

She was young, naive, and he looked away as he continued his fan. Either she'd stop talking, or storm off, but either way Svadra was done with this discussion. Maybe it was time to head home.

Her cheeks puffed out as she fumed, before she took a long breath and allowed herself a moment to cool down. She knew she was being dismissed, that this tall hybrid saw her as no longer his concern, and instead of respond she spun on her feet and stormed away. Her ponytail bounced with each step and she went to find her brothers to try and work off this anger.

If she saw him again, she'd not say hello. No matter what his background or status was. What a jerk!
