It was a rare moment for Crocus to be in a shifter town, though one that was deep in the woods. He was off gathering supplies for his mother, specifically his Yaeli mother who needed feed for her beasts. She had enough for the locals, but the ones she brought from the other regions required specialized diet. And so, once a month either he or his Aishan mother would travel to town to pick up the standard order.
This time it was him, as his mother was off visiting Chibale to investigate some strange reports with the great tree.

This was it, it was one of the last stops before they would cross the waters and land in Chibale. Nayyara was nervous, to say the least, and so she left her mother and travel companion to venture to one of the settlements nearby. Her mother didn't mind, she herself was going to go to the coast and seek passage, and who knew what Zuella was doing this close to home.
So, Nayyara explored the tree-city that was a typical Jauhar settlement, amazed at the beauty of it as well as the shifters around them. As the sun was setting, all of them began to lighten up, and upon inquiry one said that this was typical behavior and to just watch and wait.
Little did she know, when that person patted her shoulder, they also snuck a hand to grab her pouch of coin she brought to barter for anything she like. It wasn't much, but it took way to long for her to notice it was gone.

As he was bartering with the vendor, Crocus passed along the pouch dedicated for the trade. Thank goodness he wasn't targeted before this, as the thief might have walked away with a lot more coin. Instead, they snagged a pouch of snacks he purchased on the side, and Crocus wasn't as upset when he walked away and realized his hip was lighter.
Growling at his folly, and frustrated that his senses weren't stronger considering who he was and how much training he had completed, Crocus looked around with dark eyes and glared at any of the milky shifters who seemed to be rushing away from the market.
No wonder the thief targeted him now, as they would have stood out more if they had the white skin of the moon phase.
"Damnit..." he hissed finally, resisting the urge to punch a wall.

A bit frustrated, but not upset, Nayyara decided to just cut her losses. She'd have to head back to camp overnight, which wasn't ideal, but at least she didn't lose too much coin. And she got to witness an entire tribe of Shifters show off their namesake, which was phenomenal.
It also was what made it easy for her to catch sight of a Yaeli....a Yaeli Aishan!
Gasping out loud, she looked on with wide eyes at Crocus as he seemed angry. Dare she approach?

As the stalls began to close, and his purchases were made, Crocus decided it was probably best to head home. Beside, he needed to carry the heavy feed which was no fun, all things considered. But it did help him build muscle, so he wouldn't skip the opportunity to grow stronger no matter how boring it was.
As he turned to begin his trek home, he caught sight of an Aishan girl all but gaping at him. Her hair was something he never really saw before, and her skin too. Maybe she was some sort of ultra hybrid? Ones that weren't blooms because their parents were so mixed.

When he caught sight of her, Nayyara took it as an opportunity to approach, and so she did with a smile. She took the time to appreciate his look, something different than the girl she stumbled upon seemingly ages ago and who gave her the pretty gem resting on her busom.
"Hello there, I know I'm close to Chibale but I didn't expect to see Aishans here this late in the evening..."

He dropped the feed to his feet as she approached, accepting that this would be a little meet and greet. It allowed him the opportunity to size her up, and a chance to get valuable information. She seemed pure, if you ignored her coloring...was she one of the new Aishan races? The Elidae or Vandrea?
They didn't have any who came this far out, at least not frequently. Yes, this was a great tactical chance for him to gather information, and so he nodded with a grunt in greeting.
"Not many like this settlement...it's full of low lifes..." he grumbled, still annoyed his bag was stolen.

She was about to argue that Earthlings weren't all lowlifes, but her jaw snapped closed as she thought over the words and meekly smiled.
"Yeah...I learned a little quickly that this might not be the best place to linger...even if their skin seems to reflect the moonlight..."

"Got nabbed as well?" He replied simply, almost not waiting for the answer as he lifted his haul, "No matter where you go, there's always trouble. Be it at Aishas roots or down in the sands of Oba. You'll find desperation anywhere."
He looked her over again, studying her and realizing she must be at least a blade with the muscles and weapons on her hip.
"Where are you staying?"

She grasped her hands together as she watched him lift his bags, they looked pretty heavy but he didn't seem the type who'd want help. So she didn't even offer, instead she pondered his words and just nodded with a strained almost-grimace.
When he changed the topic, she jumped on it quickly, "We're camped out a mile away, toward Chibale. We're going to cross over to the Isles in a few days."

Well wasn't she free with her words? He didn't need the life story, even if it did help him understand where she might be saying. On the way to Chibale? Sounded like it might be in the same direction he was heading. Well, his mother did say it was important to protect sisters, and he'd love to hear more about where she was and why she was here.
"That's where I'm heading. My mothers don't want to be in a settlement so we've made our own. If our paths are the same, might as well journey together."
It was easier to talk to her, he found, simply because she really seemed like an outsider. That and he felt a growing hunger to understand how her sisterhood was compared to the one he was about to join.

Ever the trusting sister, and someone who could hold her own, Nayyara smiled and nodded, "Sure! I would appreciate that..."
She then began to follow him as they left the settlement, silence falling on them as the moon began to rise.
"Have you been to Chibale yet? I'm going to be there for awhile and my mother wants me to train...any recommendations?"

Small talk - ugh. Crocus was about to dismiss her but then she asked about training. And he could talk about training. Nodding quickly, he added some insight.
"Well, there's this trainer nearby. She's tough, but you can tell she produces the best of the best. No mounts or spears, mostly Sacred Hearts. If that's what you're interested in, she'll take you on if you're willing to put in the work."
He recalled his meeting with Sena and Ika, how impressed he was and how he had a burning desire to join them and learn. It was rare for the proud Aishan hybrid to chase such things, so he was willing to sing her praise.

Well that sounded fantastic, even if it wasn't in the isle maybe she could talk her mother into letting her train for a few days. She was loving the ability to learn from different masters, to expand her skills and abilities based on the nuances of each. Crocus, while young, was a wealth of knowledge and their trek back was filled with discussion around fighting stances and paths.
When they finally parted ways, Nayyara was sad to leave the hybrid, and hoped she would encounter him on her way out of Chibale in a few weeks. Or maybe even see him on the Isle.
