It's been quiet, peaceful in the world of Tendaji. Many have grown used to the new normal between the Aishans, the Earthlings, and the Kahikinans. Because of this sense of security, a few unsavory folk are taking advantage of the distracted locals.
A pickpocket is on the prowl in the marketplace, and you find yourself involved.
This prompt will be resolved by rolling 1D100. xxxxx1-20: Oh no! Something VERY VALUABLE was stolen! xxxxx21-50: While not majorly valuable, you do have an important item taken from you. xxxxx51-90: A small item is taken and you immediately identify the thief in the crowd. xxxxx91-100: Not today - you catch the thief in the act.
[ Each participating character in this WE rolls 1d100 and roleplays their reaction. You are also welcome to have your character reacting to this event happening to someone else, if it makes more sense for your character's plot.
Or, even better, maybe your character is the thief - roleplay it out from the perspective of the thief. ]
Everything had been leading up to this moment! Olokun's hands trembled with excitement as he counted out the coins for the salesman. Every cent had been earned by doing chores at home and for neighbors., and finally, finally, he had saved up enough to buy it. It. The thing he had been pining away for since he had first seen it in the shop months ago.
A brand new bona fide toy model of a Belrean airship. It was exquisitely detailed and opened up to show the workings inside. It was spectacular!
Adventure seemed to run in the family, and Oly was no exception. He found the airships fascinating... and now he had one of his own! It was difficult to not squirm about too much. After all, he dare not drop it! "Ari, isn't it amazing?" he crooned before looking over to see what his brother was getting.

"It is!" Omari was vibrating with excitement while the merchant handed his brother a toy. The airship looked amazing and he couldn't help fawning over it before the merchant asked about what he would like from the shop. It was his turn now and he found himself reaching for a set of decorative fans, something he had seen some of the dancing students using, and the boy was eager to try working with them. They weren't the simple ones given out at festivals but the more elegant ones with fine metal wings decorated with a few crystals that gleamed in the sunlight.
"This was so worth saving up for." He breathed as he held out the pair of fans towards his brother, not noticing the shadow that stalked around the corner just waiting for them to leave the safety of the shop.

Oly grinned excitedly. "Those are gonna look so cool for you to dance with," he approved, turning away from the counter. He was oblivious to everything but the airship and his brother, the shadowy figure going unnoticed as he walked out into the street. "I can't wait to show everyone. I told them we'd be getting something special today, but I didn't tell them what." He loved surprising his family with good things, and to have something he was so proud of having earned was a bonus!
A loose cobblestone caught his foot, sending him flopping to the ground. He yelped with shock, but managed to land on his knees and kept the precious model safely in the air. "Oww," he whined, turning to sit. He set the airship carefully on the ground beside him and curled to inspect his scrapped up knees. "That's not fair," he pouted.

"Right?" Omari grinned confidently as he already imagined how he was going to impress the older students at the school next time. Just imagine how he would twist and catch the light with these fans! His gaze slipped back towards the airship. "You'll have to show me all of those parts when you figure it out. I wonder how close it is to the real thing?" Ari wasn't the best at figuring out complex things like that but he did enjoy how cool they looked.
"Oly!" Ari darted forward as he checked on his sibling. "You okay?" His fans were placed on the ground as he moved so that he could glance over Oly's injury. At least it didn't seem so major...a sigh of relief left his lips before he realized something more worrisome. "My...my fans!" He gasped as he patted the now empty ground, his gaze widened with dismay as he noticed a figure darting across the street. "He-hey!" Did they also take Oly's airship? Oh no...

Oly winced when he straightened out his legs. "I'm okay. We should get home so I can clean up before mama sees the blood." It was a few cuts and scrapes, but he didn't want his mother to worry.
Speaking of worrying, he looked over with shock at Ari's concerned words. "What?" He looked around for the brand new fans, but saw nothing. He was sure he'd seen them set on the ground! Just like his-! "My airship!" he wailed, slapping his hand over the empty spot where his new model had been just a moment ago. "Ari, it was right there!"

"I know!" Ari let out a cry, his worried gaze darting towards Oly. "We have a choice..." He began as he glanced over towards the alley. "Our parents may scold us but I think they went that way. We can chase but your scrapes..." There would definitely be blood on his brothers clothing. But their new purchases! Omari bit his bottom lip as he glanced between his brother and the alleyway. He wanted to give chase but he didn't want Oly to get hurt more.

"You saw where he went?" Oly cried out, shifting to look where his brother was indicating. Gritting his teeth, he pushed himself up to his feet. "We're getting our stuff back," he hissed sharply. "They'll be mad, but at least it'll be worth it." He looked over and gave his brother a sharp nod. "Lead the way!"

"Okay." Ari gave a nod before gesturing back towards the side alley. "They went that way so maybe...maybe we can track them down and steal our stuff back. " if they could just pick up their belongings so why couldn't Ari and Oly do the same? That in mind the hybrid started briskly walking down the alley way. Eventually they came to a pile of crates and Ari paused. Maybe they could climb up there and wait to see what happened?

Oly stormed down the alley, eyes darting back and forth for clues to where the thief, or thieves, went. "It's not stealing," he growled. "We worked hard to buy those. They're ours." Without giving it much thought, he scaled the crates for a higher perch to see from. "There're a few different ways they could have gone.. but which one?"

Okay so perhaps stealing wasn't the best term to use but still. Ari frowned as they studied the alley from their new perch. "Hey...what is that?" He whispered, his eyes narrowing as he tried to get a glimpse of something that caught his attention. Was that a storm drain? Something to lead beneath the town to help keep waste out and floods from occurring as much? The wooden board that blocked the opening looked like it was ajar like someone had recently moved it in a hurry. He knew you could walk through it but...."Oly." Ari started very quietly. "What if they're hiding the stolen things there for now? We could sneak in and grab our stuff...."

"Huh?" Oly climbed back down the stack and headed straight for the drain entry. His eyes narrowed, brow knitting with concern. "What are we waiting for then?" He reached out, wrapped his fingers around the wood's edge, and pulled hard. It only moved a little, but maybe enough... He peeked into the space and huffed. "I can't tell. Why don't you go in and see? I'll keep watch here."

"Okay. Just make some sort of whistle or toss something if you see anything." Omari carefully climbed down the crates and peeked around the corner. It seems quiet...his gaze narrowed as he surveyed the dark area before pushing against the wood to move it a bit more. A huff left his lips but then the hybrid managed to slip through the opening. It was surprisingly open inside and he found enough room as long as he kept his head bent. Ari noticed a tarp and after making his way down, careful of the small stream of water running through, he found himself tugging it free with a grunt. Aha! Both of their prizes were nestled inside along with a few other things...Ari chewed his bottom lip thoughtfully before grabbing his fan and Oly's airship. He couldn't carry it all out but he could get their things and let one of the local guards know. That decided Ari came back to the entrance and held the airship towards the opening. "Here." He stated as he waited for Oly to take the item before climbing back out.

Oly watched the alley like a hawk, more focused than he was usually able to muster up the ability for. Oh, if only he could get his hands on that punk! He shifted uncomfortably, listening to his twin shuffling around in the dim light. "Hurry," he murmured under his breath. Then... his eyes lit up when the airship seemed to float into view. "My airship!" he gasped out, taking the model tenderly. "And your fans! Gods, I can't believe someone actually stole from us!" He hugged the model eagerly and sighed. "Thanks for getting these back, Ari. Maybe.. if they ask.. I got scratched up from chasing the thief and not.. you know.. before?"

"You're welcome." Omari glanced around, his heart racing despite everything, and the hybrid quickly started walking towards the exit of the alleyway. It was probably best that they left before anyone caught them leaving...especially if it was a thief. The boy honestly didn't know what he would do if they had to confront someone. Even if he had bladed fans it didn't mean that he intended to ever use them as weapons! Just the thought made his stomach knot and he found himself blinking distractedly before realizing what Oly had asked him. "That's fine." He answered with a soft laugh. "We can go with that if we get caught. Let's just stop by a shop first so that I can let the keeper know about our finds and then we can run home." It was a crazy thought though that someone had actually stolen from them! Who would have expected it in the small village like this? Maybe it was just someone passing through - that much Ari hoped so that they wouldn't have to deal with this ever again in the future.
