Obsessing over idols (real, fictional, and in between) -- Idols are a big part of Tochi’s world, both real and fictional to the point of more than borderline obsession, according to certain people. For as long as she can remember, she was attracted to the cute (and sometimes colorful) costumes the girls wore on stage, and the songs about friendship and love drew her in as well. Her interest in them really took off in middle school, though, when Tochi started to become aware that girls her age stood a shot at being recruited into big names like 48G, or even form a group of their own, such as Sakura Gakuin. She lives and breathes idols, and would probably die for them, too. She has the calls and responses as well as the concert calls and chants memorized, even if it usually just ends up being her doing them at home and by herself. Tochi especially dreams of one day becoming a genuine Real Live Idol, impossible as it is, though she does belong to a group that does covers of idol songs on youtube and uploads dance covers from time to time as well. A majority of the money she earns (through allowance or otherwise... like selling her chuusen codes) goes towards idol merch, from kingblades to nesos… to bromides and chekis, to even replica idol costumes for cosplay. Tochi also runs a twitter account and discord in which aside from posting general aesthetic things, she retweets as well as posts her own translations of twitter posts from her best girls.
Sadly, Tochi thus far has had to admire her favorite idols from afar- her parents draw the line at allowing her to fly back to Japan on her own to attend an actual live concert, though if they ever attend the local anime conventions, you can bet she’d be there, sitting in the front row with her kingblades. Still, that hasn't stopped her from finding alternatives, such as attending live viewings...
Livestreaming (of the virtual diva kind) -- Although Tochi hasn’t quite given up on her dream of being scouted by an idol agency (or at least being cast to voice a 2D idol), she has found a compromise that satisfies that itch for now, at least to an extent. By pure chance, and completely by accident, Tochi discovered vtubers one day, while looking up videos on youtube related to the idol group 22/7, and finding some of the members streamed using their 3D models of the characters they voiced. From there, youtube recommendations further set her down the rabbit hole of sorts, as she found covers of popular songs she enjoyed done by vtubers, such as Kanaria’s KING, which ultimately led to…Tochi discovering vsingers, and not just virtual idols such as 22/7 and GEMS COMPANY, but the two hololive singers as well, AZKi and IRyS. At that point, there was no turning back, and Tochi began to realize that while she may not be able to make it as an idol in the real world, she could certainly become one online!
Originally starting out with a vroid model she made herself, Tochi eventually managed to get together enough money to commission a proper live2d model, where she streams under the name of Dreamy Color*, an idol princess from another world, as part of a small group of indie EN vtubers called Tiny Stars. She mostly sticks to uploading song covers, as part of living out her dream of being an idol of some sorts, but will occasionally stream herself playing rhythm games as well.
(*Originally, she wanted to go with the name PRiSM, to match the naming scheme of the two hololive vtubers, but changed her mind after a lot of teasing from her sister’s friend…)
Astrology -- Tochi’s other major interest aside from idols is the study of the stars and other celestial objects, something she shares in common with her older sister; unlike her sister, however, Tochi does not pursue it as seriously, interested more in the astrology side of things rather than astronomy. It's true that the parts of her room that aren't dedicated to idols are covered in star maps and astrology charts, and it's also true that she owns an assortment of books on the subject and has a telescope that she takes out for stargazing; Tochi, however is more interested in the zodiac and the horoscope, and what they mean- let her tell you what your big 3 are, and what that means for you! Largely overall, her interest is more for fun than any kind of serious study, often becoming a big source of frustration for her sister, who wishes she'd pursue more serious subjects that aren't related to her beloved idols.
Outfit (but mostly idol costume) design -- Tochi and her older sister both inherited their mother’s talent for art, but while Morie (her sister) is skilled in still life and landscape painting, Tochi’s talents seem to lie in fashion design… which she puts towards doodling cute costumes and outfits she’d personally wear if she ever makes it big… though at least she can dream about wearing them. She’s started to learn to sew in order to bring her concepts to life, though it’s a bit of a work in progress, and she tends to stick to just making custom accessories for now… If it’s one thing Tochi has learned, though, it’s the popularity of buying custom outfits for one’s ocs, and she’s started selling and taking commissions for said outfits to pay for her other expensive hobbies. She’s not exactly destined for New York Fashion Week anytime this century, if ever, but if she can make a couple extra bucks on the side to fuel her obsessions, that’s enough for her.
Pros:
Hey! Be Ambitious! Energetic -- By nature, Tochi is a fairly bubbly person, cheerful and a bundle of energy, always ready to go at a moment’s notice. In her eyes, being an idol requires both a lot of stamina, as well as an upbeat personality, and it just so happens she has plenty of both, making her the perfect idol candidate, right?
I will protect everyone’s stage, forever Supportive -- Knowing all too well the struggles of Pursuing A Dream, Tochi does her best to support others on the road to their dreams, encouraging them to 'fight on'. The future you dreamed of is starting now, don't give up! Cross that river, you can do it! ... And other inspirational idol song lyrics.
For the sake of that promise, I’ll keep charging forward Motivated -- Once Tochi is committed to something (or someone) she is committed. Becoming an idol has been her dream for a long time, and she's determined to follow it through to the end, without allowing anyone to get her down. It could be said that she's chasing an impossible dream, but dreams have to come true someday... right?
Cons:
My name is Claire, I have committed the astral sin melodramatic -- Life is hard when you’re an idol in the making- nobody understands you, let alone your family. For Tochi, whose family, especially her ‘strict’ older sister, does not share in her Real Life Idol dream, this seems to be especially true. The world is just so unfair, and determined to keep her from following her heart, or so she likes to say. She has a bad habit of taking things too personally, and getting upset by it.
The perfect and pure world will come true Naive/Gullible -- Tochi is a cheerful and supportive person, but she's also a highly naive one, and prone to falling prey to people's pranks and scams, albeit unintentionally. More than once, she's been too trusting, and gotten herself in trouble, usually (thankfully) just minor cases such as letting someone copy her homework or copy off of her during tests. At the same time, though, there have been at least one or two incidents where she's lost money through getting scammed.
good vibes only willfully ignorant -- Tochi is not the most grounded in reality at times, and it could be said that she prefers to stay that way. She's naive and gullible, and tends to live in a fantasy world where being an idol is as simple as it is in her slice of life high school idol stories. She doesn't particularly enjoy being forced to 'face the facts', in a sense of speaking, about how hard it really is to make it big, and essentially lives in flat out denial.
General Appearance Tochi is a petite young woman with long silver-white hair that goes down to her waist and green-blue eyes. She enjoys dressing like someone that raided a tween girl's store, with the general 'cute' aesthetic she enjoys, but also likes to wear ensembles with starry and/or space patterns on them.
