Pickpocket!

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

It's been quiet, peaceful in the world of Tendaji. Many have grown used to the new normal between the Aishans, the Earthlings, and the Kahikinans. Because of this sense of security, a few unsavory folk are taking advantage of the distracted locals.

A pickpocket is on the prowl in the marketplace, and you find yourself involved.

This prompt will be resolved by rolling 1D100.
1-20: Oh no! Something VERY VALUABLE was stolen!
21-50: While not majorly valuable, you do have an important item taken from you.
51-90: A small item is taken and you immediately identify the thief in the crowd.
91-100: Not today - you catch the thief in the act.

[ Each participating character in this WE rolls 1d100 and roleplays their reaction. You are also welcome to have your character reacting to this event happening to someone else, if it makes more sense for your character's plot.

Or, even better, maybe your character is the thief - roleplay it out from the perspective of the thief. ]

Making her way through the marketplace of an Oban city was a pain. There were too many people for her liking. Terrwyn preferred when there were less people about. No one to jostle into you or making things uncomfortable with their body heat or perfumes. It also didn’t help that she had her crossbow in her hand so it made things all the more awkward as she tried to walk without running into anyone with it.

A harsh bump from someone made her stumble a bit. Normally she’d chalk it up to someone’s complete lack of manners but she felt someone’s hand near her pockets. A hand that very much did not belong there. So just as quickly as she felt it she turned to see who it was. While Terrwyn hadn’t caught them in the act, she did see the person moving away from her very quickly. Their clothing was also familiar as the person who bumped into her not a moment ago.

So that’s how it was then? The leafling moved her feet quickly. She followed after them, moving through the crowd just as quickly as they were. Behind her she heard the voices of those that were escorting her.

“Miss Terrwyn!” - “Wait!”

She didn’t slow down, though, as she knew they could keep up with her. They had proven that in the time they had traveled together so far. When she noticed that her target, the thief, was getting too far ahead of her she stopped and brought her crossbow up. Snatching a bolt from her side, a special one used for practice, she loaded it and pulled the string back. Terrwyn had enough practice with her weapon to do this within a few seconds and when she heard the click of the mechanism saying it was ready to release she brought the whole thing up and took aim.

“Miss Terrwyn! No!”

The young teen narrowed her eyes and felt her jaw twitch a bit. “Tch..” Was all she said before she moved her index finger over to the trigger and pulled. The recoil made the end of the crossbow move up a fraction but she watched with satisfaction as the bolt soared through the air. The crowd had been smart enough to move out of the way when they saw her aiming. So the poor thief was left unprotected.

A half smile of satisfaction went through her when the special bolt smacked right into the back of their head and sent them careening forward in a stumble. The blunted tip with chalk on the tip marked them as the perpetrator so they couldn’t get away from her now even if they tried.

She lowered her weapon and started to walk forward again. “I’ll take that back now.” She held her hand out as she stopped just in front of the thief, waiting patiently.

“Miss Terr- Oh. I see.” The head male of her little group eyed the thief for a second with an expectant look.

What had been taken wasn’t particularly valuable. At most they might only get a few coins for it if they managed to sell it. A shame really since they went through all that trouble to get it. Since she had it on her then surely it was worth a lot right? Terrwyn had nice clothing and a family crest necklace so surely whatever she had was valuable. At least, that is what one would assume by looking at her.

The thief, not wanting to make things worse for themselves, handed it back to Terrwyn. Once it was in her possession she slipped it back into the pocket it had been taken from. Then with a motion of her hand she signaled for the male that had followed her to take care of the issue at hand.

“Miss?” He questioned.

Terrwyn stood for a moment longer as she thought about what to do. Finally she turned to walk back the way they’d came. “The small one.”

The man nodded his head at the young teen he seemed to defer to for orders then looked at the thief again. He smiled before he moved to hand them a small pouch of coin. It wasn’t much but it was certainly more than what the little bauble they’d stolen was worth. After that he too turned to head back the way they’d came so that he could join Terrwyn.

The leafling looked back over her shoulder to ensure that what she’d wanted was done. Seeing the thief with the pouch of coins in their hands and looking absolutely confused, she looked forward and forgot about the whole incident. She had things to so.
