Mounts

Mounts are available to all classes, and even to commoners. Some mounts are harder to obtain then others.

Currently mounts are limited to one land mount and one flying mount per character. The only exception is the additional mount for being in a guild. Unlike familiars, mounts cannot talk to their bearers (unless otherwise specified), they are not bonded in the same way as familiars and cannot be put in a demi plane. They must be housed and taken care of both when in use and when not.

Name: Chocobo
Rarity: Common
Size:
Weight:
Flying or Ground: Ground
Lines By: Koiasi
Chocobos were first tamed by Gnomes who then later gave the creatures as a peace treaty to the Elves. They remained a Fey only mount for many centuries and it wasn't until an unlikely group of adventurers made friends with the Elven Kingdoms that the Chocobo became a popular mount among other races.

Chocobo are a fast ground mount that cannot fly or swim. They are even faster than most horses. They are not the most intelligent of mounts, however, they are easy to train which has made them a favorite among mounts. They do, however, have some erratic behaviors at times.

Horses are the most common of all mounts. They have been bred and used for thousands of years and have proved to be the most reliable to use and keep. Horses were first tamed by Humans.

Name: Skyhorn (Dragonkin)
Rarity: Very Rare
Size:
Weight:
Flying or Ground: Flying
Lines By: Yorugami

Though they look like Dragons, Skyhorn are not proper dragons. They are known as Lesser Dragons among Dragonkin enthusiasts (and Half-Dragons). They were not powerful enough to have their own flights, many of them were affiliated with true dragons and were scouts for when the dragons needed it. However, now that most of the true dragons are gone, the Skyhorn have found themselves at a loss and a few have gone feral and feel like they may do whatever they like. This has caused humanoids to start hunting them for good of their own peoples.

Skyhorn are, in fact, intelligent, though some may be slightly dumber or even more intelligent than people. Many of them managed to strike a deal with the humanoids to become mounts in exchange for food, housing and to no longer be hunted. Thus the market for Skyhorn was born. Since then many have been taken against their wills, however, for the most part the Skyhorn have welcomed this as it gives them purpose again.

Skyhorn can speak just as a human can. Many have picked up on their handler's language, though some prefer to only speak in Draconic. They are fierce and can easily defend themselves and their riders if need be.

Name: Terra Goat
Rarity: Uncommon
Size:
Weight:
Flying or Ground: Ground
Lines By: Lord Pocky

Terra Goats were first made by a Wizard that had struck a deal with the Dwarves. The Wizard created these creatures to further help the Dwarves with digging and creating their vast caverns and caves for their cities. They were also used to help Dwarves mine gold and gems at a much faster rate. Eventually, their numbers grew and the Dwarves began to sell them to traveling merchants to make even more gold. Now their numbers have swelled enough to make decent mining mounts, though they're not near as fast as horses with their strange claw-like hands.

Name: Unicorn
Rarity: Very Rare
Size:
Weight:
Flying or Ground: Ground
Lines By: ChexaRain

Unicorn are one of the very few mounts that can telepathically communicate with anyone who touches them. Once the link is established, it is always there, however, the person cannot be further then 60 feet away for it to work. Unicorn are very rare creatures, thought to be from the Celestial Planes and to be of a Lawful Good alignment. They are favored mounts of Paladins and Clerics. They have the innate ability to heal themselves, calm emotions in others, make small plants grow, and detect evil or good.

Unicorns, unlike others, choose their riders. It is very rare for an evil creature to be able to tame a unicorn, however, if they have it is usually through torture and subjugating which can leave a unicorn twisted and insane.

Name: Wolf
Rarity: Uncommon
Size:
Weight:
Flying or Ground: Ground
Lines By: ChexaRain

This large wolf breed was first cultivated for mount use by Orcs. Over decades, however, adventurers sought out the beasts and brought them back to breeders as a new exotic mount for their stores. It was not an easy task to breed out their wild aggression and make them usable, however, after many generations it was finally done. The wolves are no longer as aggressive, but also not as good at attacking their foes as they had been in the Orcs' hands. They do still make good mounts and if they trust the person they're with they can be rather loyal.

Name: Wyvern
Rarity: Rare
Size:
Weight:
Flying or Ground: Flying
Lines By: Koiasi

Despite being a Dragonkin, Wyvern are one of the least intelligent Dragonkin there are. This isn't to say that they're innately dumb creatures, but they are very headstrong and have a tendency to do whatever they like, whenever they like. They very much dislike having things riding on their backs and have been known to try to punt them if they do not have a good relationship with their rider. Some Wyvern will even do this to riders they have had a long history with. This has resulted in many injuries to Wyvern Riders and most people only use them as a last resort.

The most famous Wyvern merchant, Ajaheen, instructs her customers to work with the will of a Wyvern since Wyvern are insanely hard to break, though also extremely useful when you know how to direct them properly. Many people will advise others against buying them from any other person as somehow Ajaheen has a way of taming Wyverns that no other merchant has been able to recreate.
