It's been quiet, peaceful in the world of Tendaji. Many have grown used to the new normal between the Aishans, the Earthlings, and the Kahikinans. Because of this sense of security, a few unsavory folk are taking advantage of the distracted locals.
A pickpocket is on the prowl in the marketplace, and you find yourself involved.
This prompt will be resolved by rolling 1D100. xxxxx1-20: Oh no! Something VERY VALUABLE was stolen! xxxxx21-50: While not majorly valuable, you do have an important item taken from you. xxxxx51-90: A small item is taken and you immediately identify the thief in the crowd. xxxxx91-100: Not today - you catch the thief in the act.
[ Each participating character in this WE rolls 1d100 and roleplays their reaction. You are also welcome to have your character reacting to this event happening to someone else, if it makes more sense for your character's plot.
Or, even better, maybe your character is the thief - roleplay it out from the perspective of the thief. ]
As much as Ai absolutely loathed earthlings there was no denying the fact that they needed supplies. Worn gear would only get you so far, as would depleting rations and while she knew her way around a trap catching food in foreign territory was difficult. She'd much rather gnaw around on tough jerky than expend extra energy tracking down a sand rat.
There was a much larger concentration of bodies around the edible vendors than anywhere else and that fact alone had Ai curling her lip. Most gave her enough space, but that wasn't much at all, really, when it was this crowded.
At least she'd managed to buy a few vegetables before that stall became haired over.
Lucijah had barely any skills hunting, even if she was a decent hand at butchering. That being said, there wasn't too much hunting that could be done in the thick of Oban territory, among the cities and settlements - unless you were willing to hunt mangy, stray perzi in the alleys that is; which Lucijah was terrified Ai might consider, rather than agreeing to purchase from earthlings.
Thankfully, the alkidike seemed to have mellowed out somewhat, or her tolerance had gotten a bit better throughout their trip, because rather than barking cold words at the throngs around them, she was grinding her teeth instead. Lucijah, meanwhile, had opted to keep her vastly depleted purse of coins close to her chest (literally).
She once again tugged her fingers through her shorter hair, still unused to it all things considered, glancing at her companion out of the corner of her eyes. "Hopefully we can afford enough supplies to get on the road again." She sighed, wistfully.

The amount of free roaming street urchins without a parent to reign them in was daunting. She had half a mind to grab their heads in her hand and -
"What we can't afford we could always take." She said with a raise of her brow. The alkidike patted the sword at her side, careless as to whether the brazen act would be taken as a threat by those around her or not. Seeing the way Lucijah kept incessantly toying with her hair gave Ai mixed emotions. While she had a personal history with women and hair cuts, she had to admit that she might have preferred this to her previous style if only because it wasn't as pompous. "We can just- HEY!" Ai bellowed, startling the earthlings closest to her.
Where were her vegetables?! And where were the brats?!

She had narrowed her eyes, pursing her lips in the way she generally did when her companion suggested violence (not that Lucijah was absolutely opposed to the idea. She'd been desperate before, and it wouldn't be the first time she'd stolen something, but she also was fairly recognizable, and had enough familiarity with how Obans punished their prisoners to be wary).
She did jolt out of her thoughts, however, when Ai suddenly yelled, snapping her eyes to the Alkidike, who was twisting around, looking around for--
Lucijah blinked, hand immediately slapping to the edge of her shirt, where her purse had been tied - then cursed. It was gone!
"What was that about taking things?" She shot back, sharply, turning to begin scouring the crowd just like Ai was.

Seeing the way an Oban male jumped back from her with a disgruntled look just spurned on her sudden flare of anger. She curled her lips at him and snarled to the point he hurriedly got away. Oh, when she got her hands on those cretins she was going to snap their skulls like fruit!
"Don't even start!" Ai snapped back, doing her best to look around. Her advanced height didn't do a damn thing when it came to finding such short creatures in a sea of bodies. It was bad enough that they'd nicked her food, but now with Lucijah's meager purse gone they were broke!

Lucijah grunted, holding her hands up in mock surrender. Instead of snapping back at the taller woman, she began to shove her way through the crowd, who had all begun to frantically check themselves to make sure THEY weren't also victims. As she was doing so, Lucijah looked up and spotted two dirty children ducking away from the stalls - and, without knowing whether or not she was correct, Lucijah pointed, twisting to look back at Ai, "That's them!

For once in her life Ai didn't put up a fuss as she followed behind Lucijah. What few earthlings that chose not to move for the muscular shifter most certainly did for her alkidike shadow. One matorian in particular hung around by Ai for a little too long checking over a crate in his arms and when she politely urged him to move was around the moment Lucijah spotted the children.
Without really seeing them for herself, she simply turned in the direction her companion had alluded to and nodded. The hunt was on!
Ai caught the briefest glimpse of couple small heads moving away and picked up the pace. She slipped around the backside of a fabric stall, much to the vendor's chagrin and started toward the backside of a few local buildings.

(what I'm thinking is they either lose track of them or they weren't the culprits at all XDD)

Well, at least they were working together for once, with little fuss. Lucijah was grateful, because the idea of losing their things was... a scary one. Oba wasn't the kind of place to mess around in, and while Lucijah had been hopeful for a chance to spend more time with Ai before their quest was over, this was NOT the way she imagined that happening!
If they lost their gold they'd be stuck here for who knows how long, scraping enough money together to get more supplies - and already Ai was at her wits' end with Oba--
Cursing, Lucijah continued to shove her way through the people, taking a much less clever path after their supposed thieves than her companion.

I'm thinking it would be funnier if they weren't the culprits lol
Despite the unfamiliar terrain Ai was an expert at hunting earthlings. Once she'd figured out who it was she was chasing keeping up with them was all the more manageable. At times the children would duck, scurrying around stacked crates and loose debris to throw her off, but Ai powered through it.
And just when she was close enough Ai reached out with her good hand and snatched one of the brat's up by the collar. The child screamed and kicked, though it's hands were struggling with the shirt collar pressing into it's throat.
"Where is it?!" Ai lifted the brat until she could meet the earthling at eye level and kept her peripheral gaze on the other. "Where's the gold?!"
"W-what gold?" The child in her arms was nearly soggy with fright, but Ai didn't care.

Spirits, but Lucijah wouldn't wish that fate on anyone. Ai was terrifying for adult earthlings, her propensity for fondly talking about the various earthling kills she'd had spoke to that well enough. But to an earthling child foolish enough to cross her, it was probably worse than any bogeyman they could tell stories about.
Lucijah caught up what felt like ages later, breathless and panting, watching the events unfold with wide eyes. Around them, various earthlings watched - at first with fierce looks at the child, assuming they were truly a thief as accused, but as the alkidike continued to interrogate the child - Lucijah could feel sympathies quickly starting to shift.
She nervously moved in closer, patting her hands over the child that Ai was so conveniently holding aloft.
She found... nothing. Just a tattered, old doll stuffed in the child's belt. "Mm. Ah-- well... Ai?" She peered at her, unwilling to voice out loud that this one had resulted in no gold, perhaps partly out of worry the alkidike would then pounce on the second one.

The child in her hands was scared speechless. Every muscle in the wretched things body seemed to lock up with the exception of it's bladder. Ai realized much to late that it had expelled itself which caused the alkidike to hold it that much further from herself out of disgust. "Pathetic," she snarled, and at that the child just sniffled.
The entire time Lucijah frisked the little thief Ai refused to turn her gaze elsewhere. She wanted the brat to know what happened to those who wronged her. So, when it seemed impossible for the child to look away she looked straight back until...it seemed...that the child wasn't actually a thief.
"What?" She snapped and for a moment Ai was convinced that Lucijah was going to spout something along the lines of 'it's just a child' or something else, but...then it dawned on her. The realization slowly 'softened' eyes features in ways that only Lucijah, the person who had been with her for months, would see. "Ah".
She had the wrong damn kid.
And now they had an audience....

Lucijah saw the change, and only then did she feel comfortable turning her eyes from Ai, and back to the child. She pointed at the second one, who stood, whimpering as they watched their friend/sibling get accosted. "Turn out your pockets."
The child hastened to obey, hands shaky and knees knocking together. There were a handful of marbles and rocks that seemed to have been collected - nothing else. No pouch of gold, nor vegetables.
Lucijah had pointed out the wrong kids. Groaning, Lucijah turned to Ai and motioned at her to catch her attention. They needed to get the heck out of here, and fast, before the kids' parents arrived to attack them or something.

This was not good.
If they were in a private setting then Ai would have simply dropped the child and told them to get out. However, since they were in a very public area with a growing number of earthlings coming to the children's aid she knew the tide was quickly turning against her. Ai had been at the end of an earthling mob before and she was not eager to relive it.
Instead of dropping the child Ai slowly lowered the soggy creature to the ground and wasn't surprised in the least when the child's knobby legs crumbled underneath it. Carefully, Ai ducked her head closer to Lucijah, "Do you know the fastest way back to the inn?" Her tone was as muffled and low as she could possibly make it.

A wise choice. For the moment, the nearest adults were quick to go to the children, scooping them up and out of the way - but their focus would turn soon enough. Lucijah nodded quickly, giving an affirmative signal to her companion - before she turned and ran, elbowing her way through the crowd.
Perhaps if they'd expected it, the earthlings would have closed in and Ai and Lucijah would be goners. But most of those in the crowd were dainty middle aged women, shopping for groceries on a sunny day, not fighters - and easily enough, the two warriors broke through the crowd and disappeared from the market.
Back at the inn, soggy with sweat from running so hard, Lucijah propped her hands on her knees, gasping for air. "We are so screwed."
