Virtual Idol-ing -- It started off as a joke, honestly, she swears she didn’t mean for it to go this far. She was playing a prank on someone, and so she downloaded that create your own V-tuber persona app thing and started streaming herself in the persona singing anime covers and stuff, and it??? Was fun??? And she got popular??? Help??? There’s no going back, now, though, and Songstress Witch Melodia is, uh...a thing online. Honestly, she really enjoys the anonymity, and has devolved into shamelessly jumping around her room with her headset and a hairbrush while she streams, and participates in both chorus and digital art programs at Cece’s to make her shows better...which, admittedly, had not been her plan to start with, but then again, she hadn't had one at all. So...oops?
Cosplay -- While Winnie is a bit of an anime fan -- not a hardcore otaku for sure, but she likes the genre a fair bit and has her fair bit of merch -- it’s cosplay she adores. The anonymity, the dramatics, the fact that it’s perfectly legal and encouraged to put on the most outrageously frilly and ribbony and over the top costumes she’s ever seen in her life, well-- why not, right? She does make her own outfits, and though she’s no professional seamstress and her costumes aren’t the best of the best, they’re still made with lots of love and look pretty darn okay for a self-taught amateur. She’s practicing still, though, and they’re nowhere near perfect. But she has fun, and gets super in character when she gets the chance.
Magical Girls -- ...okay, the ‘fair bit’ is a lie, if there’s one thing Winnie shamelessly stans in the anime world, it’s mahou shoujo. From the classics to the present, Madoka to PreCure to Nanoha to Princess Tutu, and all the Cardcaptors and Mew Mews in between, anything and everything is fair game. The costumes, the sparkles, the adorable familiars -- god, she wants an adorable familiar -- the love and friendship powers, the transformation sequences, she adores all of it. It’s just a bundle of fun and happiness and pastel tinted sugary-sweet goodness, and she needs that kind of thing in her life after the rough start she had. It’s nice, she loves it, she’s going to cosplay every single gosh darn Cardcaptors outfit one day.
Pros:
CreativeVirtue -- Winnie is pretty darn creative, be it when it comes to cosplay, costume making in general, or designing everything about her little hobby of Melodia. She’s an amateur at most of it, and still learning, but she has enough pure imagination and spark to make up for the lack of technical skill. She makes costumes for her adopted little sister Lily all the time for Halloween and all that, and makes her cosplay, and has designed every little aspect of her streaming site and Melodia’s appearance and background all on her own. It’s fun! It lets her feel she can at least do something to make a piece of her life look a bit like the pastel cheery frilly anime she likes so much. And heck, it makes her sister happy, too.
AffectionateVirtue -- Winnie is...affectionate. Having been deprived of it for so long the first few years of her life, she loves it herself and has oodles of it to spare. She’ll flirt with anyone -- always totally innocently, flattery and teasing more than anything serious -- and compliment you and always, always mean it. She’s huggy and warm and loves to love people, always ready with a hair ruffle or shoulder pat and sweet words about how nice you look or how good your work is or things like that. And she always means it, too. She really does love being around people and making them happy, and if a smile and a compliment or a hug will do that, she’s right there ready and willing.
GenerousVirtue -- Speaking of making people happy...Winnie is very free with both her affection and her assistance. If you need help, she’s right there to supply it. Happy to play second fiddle to you, she’ll still give you the help you need, whatever you need. And sometimes before you ask! She’ll notice someone struggling and pop up with what they need, handing it over with a giggle and a grin and a wink. Maybe she tries a little too hard to play herself up as a mysterious little helper fairy, but she really does put in the effort to do what she can for people when she sees they need a little bit of assistance. The only payment she requires is a smile! If they’re happy, she’s happy, really, her time and effort are all worth that. Heck, she’ll even give nice little presents if she notes someone feeling down, just because. (And if one of Melodia’s fans is sad, she’ll absolutely sing something just for them, dedicated by screen-name!)
Cons:
Prone to LyingFlaw -- Winnie...is a little bit allergic to the truth. Not when it’s something important, really, but if it’s a personal question? Lies, all lies. No one knows the truth about her past or anything about her, really, she’s always happy to make things up and bullshit and create dramatic fantasies out of nowhere. Her lies do tend towards the overdramatic, and it just makes people roll their eyes and stop asking-- which is really the point, after all. It’s part of her master plan, you see; if people decide she’s the type to make up wild fancies rather than answer questions seriously, no one will ask her serious questions! And sometimes, for fun, she’ll lie about silly things just for laughs. Especially for laughs-- she likes making people laugh, and if making up a totally nonsensical lie about something will do that, then yep, no truth here. Even Melodia is built on lies, you see. Lies are just a fancy way of saying you’re a storyteller, after all.
ReticentFlaw -- Related to the lying, if she’s not lying about personal issues, she’s simply not talking about them. At all. Ever. Nope, no personal problems here! She’s totally fine, there’s no reason to ask-- oh look what’s that over there! She simply refuses to talk about anything important, or her own feelings, or even admit she has negative feelings about anything to begin with. Her adoptive family do worry about her, because they know the situation she was in before, but she simply doesn’t talk about it. There’s no need to. It’s in the past, therefore she is totally fine and unaffected! She’s more worried about other people’s feelings, she’s totally cool, why wouldn’t she be? No need to talk about anything at all.
DistantFlaw -- As you might expect, coupled with the lying and the refusing to talk about things, Winnie can be a bit...distant. She has tons of acquaintances and she’s known pretty well at school for being helpful and friendly and exceedingly cheery, but she doesn’t have friends. She doesn’t really want any, either. She’s decided she’s far better off totally on her own, because then no one will leave you. (She...might be a little affected by her twin sister being taken to England by their bio dad before she was adopted. Maybe.) But no, it’s fine, totally cool. She’ll live off other people’s happiness and smiles, and watch them from off to the side, and that’s happiness enough for her. She doesn’t need to stick around! Just lend a hand or a smile and a hug, and flit off into the sunset! Never stay with one group, never get attached. Her work here is done, byeeee~!
General Appearance
Winnie is small. Very small. Five foot four in heels (and she only wears heels in cosplay), and she looks smaller. Petite and fae-like, with big pale lavender eyes and delicate features, she looks like a little ethereal porcelain doll and she knows it. She dresses like it, too, in mostly pastels -- white and pink and pale blue, with some dark accents on occasion to really make things pop -- and flowy skirts or dresses and cute blouses are a must, though she likes the short-shorts and the shorter flowy miniskirts too. She doesn’t wear much makeup or jewelry, but loves to accessorize with scarves and shawls, as well as hair decorations and ribbons for her waist length, very wavy white hair. Her bangs frame her face and are just as fluffy, and she’s got a single strand of hair that refuses to stay put no matter what. And she always, always has some kind of flower on her, whether it’s a clothing pattern or a hairpin or something like that.
