"Ma'am, please," Asher started, backing up against the fence behind them. They were fairly certain no amount of pleading was actually going to help them, though; this was...so, so much worse than the youma they had encountered and been saved from, once upon a time.
This was a woman, with a razor edge smile, clad all in black, looking at them like they were prey.
"I don't know what you want--" they began, and then their made a quiet "hrk" noise.
Because the woman's hand had sunk into their chest.
They gasped, struggling to get a good grip on the hand that was gripping at something inside them, but they simply couldn't."Sshhh," Lilith said, smiling like a shark, "relax." She squeezed the civilian's starseed, and they made a distressed choking noise. "It'll all be over quickly."
And it would be. But she wanted to take a moment to savor the terror in front of her, and so she kept her hand where it was, squeezing.
She wondered if she could make a youma. Probably not, at her power level; it would be a mistake to try, lest it backlash. But maybe later. Maybe she would learn. That would be fun, if she could.

Læraðr was on patrol again, on much higher alert than he was last time. Yes, this time, he planned on being more cautious. He shivered at the memory of the girl with the drowning magic. So far, he hadn't had many positive experiences as a superhero of sorts, but hey, they all couldn't be great. He wasn't Spiderman or anything, after all, and even he had his fair share of crazy problems. Hardly any of them dealt with the literal theft of the soul, though. He swallowed heavily and pushed the thought away as he sensed the Negaverse aura nearby. Body stiffening, he took a deep breath and hurried over as quietly as possible, peeking around the corner to assess the situation. Oh, Lord, it just had to be her again, huh? Taking another deep breath, he stepped out and chucked his baton right at her head with as much force as he could. "Drop him," he commanded, fire in his voice, projecting all the confidence he absolutely did not have.

The thunk of a baton into the back of her head made Lilith yelp, and she did, in fact, drop the civilian, but mostly out of surprise. She snarled, as she whilred aorund, prey forgotten in favor of a much, much more interesting issue.
"You. Absolute. Brat," she growled, and she picked up the baton from where it had fallen on the ground. But she took a breath, as she straightened, and put on a much more murderously playful face. "You have some gall, challenging me again. Are you looking for more of what I did last time? Because if you like being stepped on, there are people you can pay to do that, and they'll stop when you ask them to."
Lilith prowled towards the Page, still gripping his weapon. Maybe she'd give him a few good whacks with it, teach him how it felt.
"I, however, won't."Asher sank to the ground, a hand pressed to their chest. They shivered, head to toe; this entire experience was...not exactly fun. But at least whatever the woman had been planning to do, she was distracted now. And, they were pretty sure, they had just been saved--by a literal complete stranger, of all things. Asher wasn't sure entirely what to make of that, but then, this wasn't the first time.
This, they had to guess, was someone like Camelot. Another Knight. Someone brave enough to fight.
Asher wished they could, even if they weren't much made for that sort of thing.
Still, they scrambled to their feet, looking left and right, and darted towards a dark shadow. Best to get out of here before the woman in black remembered they were here.

"I dunno, there's just something magical about you," he said with a smile that would have been charming if it weren't for the razor-sharp edge to it. He placed a hand on his hip as he cocked it out, smile turning sweet. "And I dunno about that. I've never been one to say stop. Making you sound like my type." With that, however, he squatted down and leapt up with all his might, landing on the nearest rooftop. He needed to get away now that the civ was gone. He'd noticed the person scrambling to get away after they'd been dropped and that was the most important thing. His weapon would come back to him later—if he could escape from here. And escaping was the priority now. Civ was safe, now he needed to be safe.

Lilith laughed. "Oh, that's cute, but you couldn't afford me," she said, dryly. At least, though, he had a proper sense of fear. He was off and running, jumping for the nearest building--and Lilith was after him within a breath, grinning broadly the entire time. This was fun! A real chase! An actual challenge!
"What's the matter? Don't want to play? You're the one that attacked me! It's no fair, doing that and then running off!"
She would just have to catch him before she taught him a lesson. That was more than fine, and she suspected it would make the entire thing much sweeter when she did get her hands on him.Watching the person in blue dart off, Asher let out a breath. At least his rescuer did, indeed, have some serious magical power. It was too bad that Asher couldn't afford to stick around and help, but they were well and aware that they were far, far too fragile for that kind of thing. Perhaps if they had the kind of power Camelot or this newest rescuer did...but no.
Asher had to think that if they were going to get it, they would have already, but it hadn't happened yet.
This was twice now that they had needed to be rescued from the more magical element of the city. Clearly there were far too many things that went bump in the night here; they needed to more carefully consider just...not...going out quite so late. The problem, of course, was that sometimes they ended up in their office until quite late at night grading papers, and then home was a walk away, and it only made sense, and that was how they kept getting targeted.
Maybe they needed to start taking grading home more often. Leave the office prompt before sunset, bring the papers home, mark them, and take them back. Better than almost dying once a year or so, with the risk of it happening far more often.
They put a hand on their chest for a long moment, and then exhaled.
No point standing around pondering. The woman might decide that they were worth chasing after all, and that would be...unfortunate. So Asher ran down the alley, praying that she didn't come looking for them.

Læraðr laughed a bit as her response finally caught up to his ears. Couldn't afford her, huh? Well. Honestly, not that he would want to afford her, anyway, what with the whole if she touches you she can ******** DROWN YOU thing she had going on. He was most certainly not into that idea. "If you hadn't been attacking someone else first, I wouldn't have had to jump in. Don't b***h about it just because I also know when to enact a tactical retreat!" he hollered over his shoulder with another wide grin, leaping over the gap between the building he was on and the next one over. "This is the worst game of tag literally ever, by the way!" Maybe he needed to cool it on the jokes a little, but at least he was having a bit of fun while he dealt with this.

"You call this a tactical retreat?" Lilith laughed. At this point, she sort of didn't care if he got away--that just meant there would be more interesting things to do later. "This really is just a pathetic little game of tag!"
Truly, the worst. But that was okay. It was invigorating, leaping from rooftop to rooftop, trying to catch him. It was too bad it just couldn't last. Either she'd catch him or he'd slip through her fingers; either way, they'd had a merry chase and she could always find him again later.

Læraðr couldn't help another laugh. Huh, and he'd thought it was a fun game of tag. Oh well. The next time he leapt, he leapt up, scrambling over the next building before sharply turning and dropping down to hide. Thank God, he thought as she gave up and walked off. He was exhausted, and now he was covered in trash. ...Man, his bright outfit and hair really didn't help him hide that well, but at least it'd worked this time. Now to go see if he could find that civ, make sure he was alright.
