Name: Sana Karimi Nicknames: Queenie Pronouns: she/her Age: 17 Birthday: June 21
School: Our Lady of Destiny Finishing School for Girls
Hobbies:
Debate -- Sana loves to talk. More than that, she loves to argue. And she likes being the center of attention, too. So what better way to do that than in debate club? She’s pretty talented, mostly because she’s a very potent mixture of “able to sound like she knows what she’s talking about” and “loud and stubborn enough to steamroll the opponent’s counters”. She’s a little terrifying, honestly. Her club members tend to call her Queenie mostly because that’s how she carries herself in meets.
Jewelry Making -- It’s a guilty pleasure, don’t tell anyone. But as much as she likes pretty shiny things, she likes making them almost as much. It’s a bit embarrassing to admit to, given the way she puts on her public face, but she loves working with her hands. She’s good at it, too, making bracelets or necklaces or other bits of sparkle for people she deems worthy-- if you get a gift from her, it’s really a fifty/fifty chance it’s homemade rather than store-bought, though she’ll deny it to her dying breath. They’re always high enough quality materials it’s hard to tell anyway.
History/Archaeology -- Another slightly embarrassing secret, though not so much a guilty pleasure, since she’s debating on pursuing it as a career. Maybe. Possibly. But she loves history, the older the better, and even as a little girl daydreamed shamelessly about raiding tombs full of ancient treasure and keeping it all for herself. Nowadays she’s a little more...aware she can’t do that, but she still wants the pleasure of finding ancient treasures and the thrill of discovery, and the pride of it being her, personally, that discovered it. Egypt is a dream destination, as well as the Middle East. She just wants to be Indiana Jones or Rick O’Connell, but prettier and richer and cooler, is that too much to ask?
Pros:
ConfidentVirtue -- Sana is extremely confident. She knows who she is, what she wants, and where she comes from, and she walks the walk (with good grades and talent in athletics) to match talking the talk. She’s well aware of her privileges -- well-off, pretty, smart, athletic -- and though she doesn’t brag...too much...she gives off the air of someone who is and will be completely unaffected by any harsh words or insults or dismissal. An unshakable sense of who she is and what she’s worth as a person is something she won’t compromise on whatsoever.
EasygoingVirtue -- While Sana is very confident and has a tendency towards being a bit loud and overbearing sometimes, she’s also...surprisingly chill. She doesn't get offended if anyone insults her or talks back to her, and she takes criticism in stride (even if she doesn't always listen to it). She’s easy to make laugh and tends towards being very cheerful, and while she tends to think she’s better than most people, she’ll never talk down to them or condescend, or treat them as inferior-- it’s very hard to make her truly mad, really, though she has her quick-flash bursts of annoyance, and in general she just tend to be very good natured and willing to help (even if ‘help’ here means ‘does it herself for them’).
InsightfulVirtue -- Sana’s pretty smart. But more than just book-smart, she’s strangely people smart...if only about other people. While self-awareness isn’t a strong suit, she’s very good at reading people and situations, and understanding what makes them tick ad what the best course of action is. This comes in handy in debates, really, since it makes her pretty good at countering most arguments she comes up against, even if she’s not prepared for them specifically. It also makes her very hard to beat at strategy games; don’t challenge her to a game of chess if you don’t want her to spend a good five minutes being obnoxiously sympathetic over your crushing defeat.
Cons:
ArrogantFlaw -- Well...with great confidence comes great arrogance. Sana has a problem, and that problem is a very, very inflated ego. She isn’t the type to put people down or insult them, but she fully believes she’s just better and more capable than everyone else, and really, it’s not their fault she’s just that much more competent and awesome. They can’t help it, so she feels sympathy more than anything. She’s just...better. And that’s okay, really, she’ll deign to help the lesser mortals if they need it. This...definitely annoys people. Unfortunately, she doesn't really notice.
IndependentFlaw -- Coupled with her slightly insufferable ego is a sense of, well, stubborn independence. She’s better than everyone, so clearly she can handle everything on her own? There’s absolutely a me in teamwork, thank you, see, there’s an m and an e and that means she’ll do everything herself, don’t worry your pretty little heads about it. It’s not that she’s dismissive and thinks everyone else is weak or incompetent-- she’s just better, so she’s the best suited to handle it on her own, obviously. Even if this means she can be kind of prone to overwork on...many an occasion, she brushes it off with a laugh, because this is just what she’s obligated to do as someone who’s solely qualified for, well, everything ever. (This also means that she’d rather die before admitting she needs help or someone to talk to.)
InsecureFlaw -- You would think this makes no sense, give how (over)confident she is, but no, not really. Despite her outward sense of arrogance and superiority, her parents being...well, not entirely the best (being both incredibly successful businesspeople from rich old money families, with the standard issue Expectations) have left her with a bit of a complex that she’ll never be as good as them, especially if she doesn’t conform exactly to how they act both in public and private, with their careers and hobbies and interests. This means her interest in history and hobby of crafting, despite how much she loves both and wants a career in at least one, are sources of doubt and shame constantly, because she knows its not what her parents would accept as ‘proper’ for who and what she is. She tries to do what they’d expect of her, with tennis and fencing lessons, but she just doesn’t...want to. Not that she’d ever talk about it. She’s too cool for friends...even if she wants those, too.
General Appearance
Sana is fairly tall, about 5’9, with a slim but athletic build; a somewhat above average chest, slim waist, long legs-- she’s got looks. She’s Middle Eastern, and her features clearly mark that, with high cheekbones and a strong nose, and with thick lashes and an easy smile she’s quite pretty. She has purple eyes, and though her hair is naturally black she dyes it golden blonde on the regular, because she likes it. She wears it long, halfway down her back, and with the bangs parted to fall over her left eye, covering it entirely; she tends to braid it and either let it hang down her back or flip it over her shoulder, depending on mood. She dresses usually in nice clothes, not ostentatious or obviously brand name -- she doesn’t flaunt her wealth by waving product placements -- but still clearly high end and tailored, tending towards skirts and leggings or pants and nice blouses, and usually in warm colors or monochrome. The femme shirt-and-tie look is also big. But her real splurge is jewelry-- she will never be see without at least a glimmer of gold at her neck or wrists or ears, and it’s rare to see the same ones twice in a row. Whether it’s just plain gold, or gold-and-gems, she’s always got something shiny (and tasteful!) on no matter what.
