She knew who she was, of course. She'd recognized the other woman almost instantly from the photograph in her byline in the paper. Knowing was different than liking, however, and while she could certainly respect her skill with words, Regina couldn't say that she liked Ms Ponsonby of The Feather. Her writing was precise, filled with fact -- "fact" -- and carrying with it a tone of authority that the general denizens of Mayet came to expect from The Feather. She read the articles herself -- had to keep up with day to day, of course, but...

They lacked imagination. They spoke of a seriousness that seemed dull and...

Regina huffed, rolling her eyes while taking a sip of her latte, silently glaring up over the edge of her laptop. There wasn't enough room in this coffee shop for the both of them... Was there?

Gently got the distinct impression that she was being watched.

It was not unusual for people to recognize her. Not all the time, not like a celebrity, but enough to know her articles and the pieces she did on the nightly news now and then reached the homes Mayet city. It was a nice feeling, really, knowing that her hard work was paying off more and more, and she was making a name for herself.

No one had asked her for an autograph yet, but she supposed she would get there in time. That one she was hoping would be tied to her theatre pursuits, but if it came from something else she would not complain.

So long as it was not some sort of trick to get her to sign something shady, she would be fine with it.

Somehow, with the intensity in the air, she doubted this particular situation would yield that result. Frowning with a sigh, she put her coffee mug down and looked around the shop. She spotted the woman glaring at her relatively easily, tilting her head curiously. There was no way it was... was it?

Grinning, Gently got up and wandered toward the counter, then pretended to spot the laptop.

"Oh! Are you doing some writing? It's a nice place for it, hmm?"

"It was a nice place for it..." Her nose wrinkled as she made a face, glancing up from her laptop in the direction of the other woman before prodding her thick, plastic framed glasses up onto her nose so she could see just a bit clearer. She wasn't sure what she'd expected -- maybe something more impressive? Maybe...

"Excuse me, you're blocking my light." She wasn't, and really Regina could have been kinder to a fellow writer -- a fellow reporter. It didn't matter that they had something in common, did it? Of course not! Their respective papers competed for the attention of the denizens of Mayet and...

Regina sighed, leaning back in her chair just a bit before reaching out to slowly, deliberately close her laptop. "Just because you don't know who I am doesn't mean I don't know who you are, alright? Regina Hopewell, Weekly Weird." She would have held her hand out to the other woman but she didn't want to. Instead she proceeded to pack up her laptop before reaching for her cup of coffee. "Are you always so serious?"

"Am I? I suppose I do like the spotlight now and then," Gently chuckled, though she did nothing to move or amend the situation. If she really was blocking the light, which she highly doubted considering her small frame and the recessed lighting of the shop itself, she was perfectly fine with it.

The computer screen glowed, anyway, so Regina would be able to see whatever conspiracy theory she was dreaming up just fine.

"Weekly Weird? Is that some sort of Zine, like all the kids are into?" Gently hummed innocently, shaking her head. She was not sure why she immediately wanted to rile the other writer up, but something in her instincts screamed that she had to. It was her destiny to be a thorn in the side of anyone working for a 'paper' with the word Weird in the title. She watched the other pack up her things, sighing.

"I didn't mean to ruin your coffee break. I do know who you are, honestly, and I've followed your work. It looks like a lot of fun, doing what you do."
