Boys will be boys.

Well, that was what her stepfather had said to her mother when Levi had fallen off his skateboard doing some insane trick that had landed him with a broken arm. It had gone over about as well as could be expected.

Thankfully that was about eight weeks ago now and Levi was on the mend. Physical therapy had started last week and the family was taking turns bringing him depending on schedule. Today was really her stepfather’s turn but work had asked him to stay late and Lena had no issue filling in.

Having left Levi in the car of the specialist, Lena turned to head outside and wait in the small courtyard. It was too beautiful of a day to be inside and it made her start to hum a song she had heard on the radio while driving over. Pop wasn’t her normal choice but given it was stuck in her head, who could blame her!

Another day, another break. Sitara had gotten rather use to this be grind. Since returning to the big city, she had felt about me alone. But work had kept her mind at ease. And was helping people, and in the end, her family was only twenty minutes away. Of course, that was if she could get a ride.

She took a step out into the courtyard, breathing in the sweet scent of flowers and the fresh cut of grass. The only thing this area needed was a fountain, and then it could be heaven.

She walked along the stone path, humming a sweet ditty as she did. The humming becoming full fledged words as she grew more comfortable. She had not seen anyone watching, yet.

Somewhere between the cord and the refrain, Lena found the song she was humming being mirrored. When she realized she was not hearing an echo in her head, the second hummer had become a full-fledged singer. A really good one at that.

It wasn't hard to follow the music and soon, Lena poked her head around the corner to smile at a woman who appeared to also be out enjoying the day. A quick glance at her attire said she worked her and was on break instead of waiting on someone like she personally was.

"You have a beautiful voice." Lena interrupted, hoping to not scar the woman too badly. "I'd say even better than the original."

Having been so lost in the music, the young intern startled, she stopping mid word and blinking large, crimson eyes at the woman before her. "I...I mean...I'm not..." She blushed a deep red, her eyes lowering as she smiled softly. No matter how many times others insisted her voice was good, Sita never believed it.

"I mean...Thank you. I'm sorry if I interrupted your time out here. I thought I was alone. Not that many spend time out here unless they are break...and..." She stopped herself from rambling. She forcing her own embarrassment down and calming her heart.

She collected her mind and stood up straight, she smiling warmly at the woman. "Are you waiting here for someone? You do not work here, or at least I do not remember your face." She shifted from one foot to the other is a nervous fashion.

Lena's own smile softened a bit as she watched the girl go from quite happy to a nervous wreck. A shame really. She had talent but in two seconds, Lena could see she had no faith in herself regarding it. Still, it at least didn't deter her from singing when she thought she was alone.

"I am. My little brother is in PT back at the rehab building for a broken arm so instead of waiting inside on such a nice day, figured I'd take a walk." Keeping a polite distance, she tried to make sure the young woman felt at ease and not overcrowded.

"I heard you singing and well," Her hands raised in a shrug. "I couldn't help myself. It made the day even better."

The blush on the woman's cheeks deepened just abit. This girl was too kind. Though the knowledge that her little brother was in the rehab building brought her back into her professional state. She ran a hand back through his bangs and straightened her hair just abit before smiling and nodding to the other.

"You are so very kind for saying so. I am sorry to hear about your brother's injury, but he is good hands here. They take pride in having only the best doctors and everyone I have meet in the stay here has been wonderful."

She looked up at the bright blue sky, she smiling as a thin wisp of a cloud passed by the sun. It really was a nice day. As a matter of fact, she had been blessed with many fine days as of late. She couldn't help but think that even a nice rain would not foul her mood.

'If he does not come out soon and if you wish it, I can always get his name and check in on how he is doing. I work in Massage Therapy, but we work pretty close with the PT staff."

"Oh, you are so sweet to offer." Lena offered, holding up a hand to politely decline. "Please don't inconvenience yourself. I'm in no rush and I trust that when the therapist is done with him, he will be out. The last thing I wish to do is rush the healing process so something goes wrong."

"Though I'm sure he would bounce back from just about anything. Teenagers seem to be almost indestructible." Chuckling as she made small talk, she too glanced up at the skin, taking in the sunny day and the breeze while birds sang above them.

"If you don't mind me asking, you said you work here? I didn't realize they offered massage. You must be gifted."

At her words, Sita turned her eyes back down toward the other woman. Even looking at her, the tanned skinned girl never really seemed to be looking directly in her direction, just always slightly off.

Sita's smile widened and she gave a gentle nod. "It is considered part of the PT department. Sometimes torn muscles and painful joints need a bit of soothing. Massage can help to relax muscles that are tense from being over worked in PT." She kept her words very simple, to the point. She was sill learning somethings, but her time here as an intern was definitely giving her some more confidence with her knowledge.

"I have been studying Holistic Medicine in school, but being here in a normal hospital they really do not focus on such things, so I have been moved to my secondary major and am interning with the Massage Therapists."

"Holistic?" Lena's voice raised a bit higher in surprise hearing the woman say it. That was a surprise to hear in the hospital grounds. A private practice, it wouldn't have shocked her but here?

"Alright, you have really piqued my interest. I know that long before modern medicine and science developed current drugs that there was a great deal of natural items used to treat things we throw everything at now but besides that," Was her scientist side coming out? Maybe... "Please, tell me more. I would love to hear what got you into it and what you have learned."

Just because she worked in STEM did not mean she didn't believe in other means!

The woman was a bit shocked to hear the interest in the other's voice. Her studies had never been considered a point of interest here in the hospital, and to see that someone (Even though they were not of the medical field) actually did care about such things, made Sita smile all the brighter.

She giggled to herself and nodded before moving to one of the benches that dotted the courtyard area. If she was going to talk for her break, she would at least do it sitting down. Long hours on your feet were not kind to anyone, and a bit of a pampering would do her well.

"There are many different kinds of non-traditional medicine. Sound, touch, herbs, crystals. All of these can be combined together to help the soul as well as the body."

She reached into the pocket of her scrubs, she pulling out a small little bell, she ringing it softly and closing her eyes. The sound was tonal and sweet, like a breeze in the air. waving in and out of ones hearing as it almost seemed to hum. "You can bring out different feelings based on sound...that is why music is so moving to some...it is not the words, it is the tone of voice and the rhythm of the drums."

Lena found her own smile growing as she followed the young woman towards the bench. There was something about her, something that just drew Lena towards her in that sort of comforting method. Now to hear her talk so passionately was a treasure.

Taking a seat beside her, she listened carefully until she moved to take out a small bell. It wasn't very large but the sound was something almost otherwordly. "It's like it found my very core." Closing her own eyes, she let the vibrations pass through her before speaking again.

"Is that why some music can soothe while other sounds energize? Like the theory of color having an affect on mood."

"It is part of it, yes. The tone of the music can bring up emotions that one did not even know existed. It is the reason why some songs, though joyous, can bring tears to your eyes. Or why some songs, though mellow, can raise your heart in your throat and make you feel like you have run for miles." She shifted the way she held the bell, her fingers one the arch of the top. She tapped it then with a nail, the tone changing to a deeper sound, one that rushed like water, rolling on the skin and down the spine.

"Like everything in this world...the way you hold the bell changes how it reacts. A gentle touch or shift of finger can change the mood just as easily as a smile or a wave of hand." She let the bell ring until the sound faded in the air, she then placing it back in her pocket.

"It is one of the reasons why massage therapists play the calming water soundscapes in the room. It helps you to relax..."

Listening to the bell and her words, Lena found herself leaning back against the bench, thinking through her mind about something that had recently gone through the research department.

"You know," She started, trying to remember what she had read before she dove back into her own work. "It's interesting because I believe all humans relate to music in some way. And I'm not the only one. This year someone put in a proposal to have several astronauts work on music training to help them while in space. A way to help their minds and prevent any decline from the isolation and otherwise quiet of being up there."

"I don't remember much of the proposal but I know it had some interest. But you mention water sounds to help you relax. Doesn't the concept of that date back deep into human life? I have heard many people say those things are to 'return us to the womb' sort of speak. Though some of them seem a bit off-kilter."

"The first sounds we hear are muffled through the filter of water. Yes. They are whispers to us, atonal and a mash of incoherent sound. It could be why chants are so soothing. why Mantras move the soul. Everything we know about sound can relate back to before we were even born." She nodded at the other woman, she grinning widely.

"I am amused that the use of sound and music is now making it into science. It will be interesting if they look more into the medical field and my work becomes more than just a means for relaxation on mental healing" She mused these things out loud, but inwardly she was much more excited. Space workers were using music now? She would have to study this more and see where this would take things.

"I am sorry if my rambling is boring...I mean...I know I talk alot when people get me going..." She blushed a deep red
