Atheneite was out looking for a victim to drain. She let out a sigh of boredom, while she did find it amusing watch the moronic fools she caught drop like flies as she drew the energies keeping them conscious from their bodies she ultimately preferred fighting someone who could fight back, it was just more rewarding.
Her search brought her past a gym studio that was advertising ribbon dancing classes. She scoffed, she hated activities like this soft and pretty but ultimately useless in the real world. She wondered why anyone waste their time here. But that was when she heard a back door shut. Ah good someone's still here, the prefect target! Atheneite thought with a wicked grin as she summoned her spear to her hand and made her way to the back of the building.
"Well well what do we have here." She purred at the blue haired man from the shadows as she stalked towards the man. "What brings a nice looking guy like you out this late. Don't you know the streets aren't safe." Her words were dripping with venom. She began to draw energy from the man. "You really should consider your safety more." She left her threats unspoken as she angled her spear at the man's throat. She really hoped he begged for mercy.

Leandro hummed to himself as he walked out long after his class let out. Working on building the core muscles needed to lift oneself in the air by ribbons was always a slow start, but it was a necessary start. Class had gone well. His duffle bag swung by his side as he walked out and started towards his home. Then he was assaulted, and oh boy, he did not know how to react initially. He certainly hadn't been expecting the spear. "Uhh... I'm not a part of your LARP group," he said, blinking. "I think they're doing that a street over, ma'am."

Atheneite blinked in surprise as her spear dipped for a moment, then she broke out into a loud and long laugh. "Oh oh you're a funny one!" She said holding back tears of laughter as she lowered her spear. "I might just keep you. But first I think you need to understand the position you're in." She said going from a jovial tone to a murderously cold voice.
She knew it took a lot of energy and she hadn't practiced it at this point but she decided to use her teleportation to show off her magical capabilities. Focusing on the spot right behind the man she vanished reappearing right behind him. No normal human could have crossed that distance.
She waited for the man to turn around before sticking her free hand directly into the man's chest. "Oh maybe I'll make you my pet youma." She threatened leaning next to the man's ear. "That means I break your soul and turn you into a monster." The young captain had an evil and wild look in her eyes. She was so focus on her target that she hadn't noticed the considerable aura that was approaching her. Hyperborea had just started her patrol the wisp that had attached itself to her bouncing happily around her, she was about to contact Caer Sidi to invite her to join her when she felt a dark aura nearby. She knew she had to investigate. So she decided to wait to call her new girlfriend until she had dealt with this situation.
When Hyperborea heard the cackling she double timed it towards the source of the aura where she found a captain with her hand buried in the chest of a blue haired man. Hyperborea was certainly not going to let this continue. She raised her staff into the air as she prepared her magic. The star shaped tip of her staff glowing a brilliant silver.
She felt bad that she couldn't give the guy a warning but she knew it would be heard by the captain as well. So she raised her staff into the air unleashing an unimaginably bright explosion silver starlight. At least she knew while he might be caught in the cross fire the captain would get the worst of it. Sure enough she released the grip she had on the man's starseed as she let of a scream of pain as the light seared into her. Hyperborea moved quickly between the man and the captain. She dispelled the light to conserve he energy. "Hey get somewhere safe." She told the man hoping he would take the opportunity to run. She looked at the captain, who looked young not helped by the now angry pinkish tint her skin had taken on from her light. "You b***h, who the hell do you think you are." The captain spat breathing a bit heavier after getting hit with the magic.

Okay. So, he'd been extremely wrong about what was happening here. His skin crawled as she teleport and he'd started to turn to run—then her hand was sinking into his chest and he felt like a bucket of ice water had just been dumped directly into his chest. He couldn't even muster the words for a hearty "******** you" at her. The light blinded him and he cried out as he was released and fell over, panting heavily. Well. That sucked. And he wasn't about to argue with the lady who'd swooped in to save him. He crawled away around a corner and sat up against the wall, checking to make sure he hadn't been hurt. It was then he noticed the baton. "Well, enough weird s**t is happening," he said to himself, grabbing it from the air. His body felt weirdly like he'd been dunked in water and simultaneously hit with a power chord standing next to a huge amp. "Yup. Weird." He looked at himself, mouth falling open at his new outfit. Wow. He looked awesome. And he felt... more powerful, somehow. "Did I just get turned into a superhero?" he whispered desperately fast to himself as he stood and peeked around the corner again. He wasn't sure how much he could help, but he knew he wanted to. So, inhaling deeply, he ran forward and took a hard swing with the baton at the LARP lady who he suspected was not actually LARP'ing like he'd thought.

Atheneite couldn't believe her bad luck. First some strange glowing knight showed up and activated some horrible magic that was both burning and blinding. She couldn't stand the light it forced her to release the guy who's starseed she was messing with as she stumbled back in horrible pain. It felt like she had been laying on a beach with no sun screen all day and like she had stared into the sun for that time.
At least the light didn't stick around for very long Atheneite tried to recover and raised her spear to try and fend off the glowing knight who had appeared. However she wasn't expect another knight to suddenly show up nor did she expect him to run up and smack her across the face with a baton looking object. The baton hit her right on her nose and the force of it drew blood.
She held her bleeding nose as she glared up at the two knights. She knew that she was already at a disadvantage fight a full knight but now with the appearance of this page she was also out numbered. "I'll get you back for this." She growled as she teleported into Negaspace.
Hyperborea was rather surprised when a new page's aura suddenly appeared on the scene. Then the man attacked the captain drawing first blood, this seemed to convince the captain that she had no hope of winning this fight as she retreated. Hyperborea used her Crown of Stars to scan the area looking for the captain's aura but she found nothing, it was likely she had retreated into Negaspace so she turned her full attention to the newly minted Page.
"Well that was quiet the show. Good shot. My name is Hyperborea, Transcended Knight of the Cosmos" Hyperborea complimented the man with a friendly smile and introduced herself with a slight curtsy. "Are you all right?" She did a quick visual check over man for any injuries. "I'm sure you have questions."

Leandro—no, Læraðr, though how he knew that, he didn't know. He was breathing heavily for several long seconds, watching the spot where she'd disappeared. "What? Hm? Oh, uh, hi," he said lamely, gesturing with the baton and then wincing when he saw the splash of red across the blurple stick of wood. he gave a hurried, small bow when she curtsied. "Um, I'm... Læraðr. I think. That sounds right. Um. I don't know—any of. Er. The rest of what you just said. What the heck just happened?"

Hyperborea nodded at the man's clear confusion. "It's a pleasure to meet you Læraðr. Let's go somewhere more comfortable to talk, this is gonna be alot to take in." She admitted wincing a bit. It was always difficult to explain the war to new people without sounding like a crazy person but still it was all necessary information.
She led the way to a nearby bench as she took a seat dispelling her staff back to the subspace it was held in when she wasn't using it. "Well I suppose I should start with the basics first." She began. "You are a knight like myself, well you are a page to be exact, a knight in training if you will. From your uniform I would assume you're a knight of the planet Neptune." She said taking in the blue outfit the man now wore. "Knights guard a magical location in outer space." She said pointing to the sky.
"The woman who attacked you was a captain of the Negaverse. That is an evil group of corrupted knights and senshi." She explained before realizing she would need to explain senshi. "Senshi are like knights but they are the guardians of planets who are powered by a specific sphere of influence, for example there is a senshi of orchids or a senshi of war." She hoped she was making sense. "Anyway that girl probably attacked you for your starseed, that's basically your soul." She felt bad that the man's introduction to this world was so violent but she supposed it was not to dissimilar to her own awakening so many years ago.
"Please stop me if I'm not making sense. I know this is alot to take in and probably sounds pretty unbelievable."

Læraðr followed her and sat, feeling a bit numb as she started laying everything out. Wow, she really just stated a couple of life-altering facts that easily, huh? She spoke and changed topics on the subject so fast his head spun a little and he closed his eyes, rubbing his temples. "Okay," he said, finally opening his eyes. "So we're basically superhero people and there's two categories: Senshi and Knights. You said I'm a Page, so I guess there's levels to this sort of thing, which makes sense. Then there's the supervillains: corrupted Senshi and Knights. Okay." He took a deep breath, parsing his thoughts again. "Senshi have planets, and we have... uh, locations? Geez," he said, huffing a bit, "I see who's favored by the universe. And..." He touched his chest where the girl had shoved her fist inside him, looking down with glazed eyes. "That girl tried... to take my soul. That part is easy to believe, considering." Blinking, he refocused on Hyperborea. "Do I have that right?"

Hyperborea smiled at the new page's understanding. " That is correct, there are 3 levels of knighthood. A Page, a Squire, and a Knight like myself. Well technically there is a 4th level, a Royal Knight, but I've only ever met one man who achieved that. And yes we're more or less superheroes, you'll find yourself much stronger and faster than you are as a normal civilian and as you advance as a knight you will gain magic."
She let out a hearty giggle at the man's favorite comment. "I suppose that is one way to look at it. But I prefer to think of it like this, while they may guard a larger area we guard a far greater treasure. You see every one of our locations which we call wonders has one thing in common, they all have what is called a Code piece. The Code is what gives us our powers, it's one of the greatest forces of the universe."
"That's what I would assume, it's an unfortunately common tactic among them. They also try to steal the energy from normal people. They do all this for their leader, an ancient evil known as Queen Metalia. Often they don't care who they have to hurt or even kill to achieve their goals. They're all beings of chaos and darkness, we on the other hand are order and light." She explained. "That's why we fight them, or at least why I fight them. Each fighter has their own reason for fighting."

Læraðr bit his lip with a sigh. "Well... I'm glad you came along. I really wouldn't wanna be Bad Guy Chow right now." He rubbed his chest again. The feeling of being grabbed like that hadn't quite faded, and he felt so vulnerable in a way he didn't realize he could. Inhaling deeply, he tried to focus and banish the feeling. He was safe, for now. "I think saving souls is a worthy cause," he said with a grin, leaning back against the table, one arm slung carelessly on it, and twirling his baton between his fingers of his free hand. "Code, huh? I like the sound of that. Wait, so, we protect specific places?" He sat straight up again, giving her a piercing look. "So how do I get there? What place am I protecting? I want to learn everything about it." He took to this life like a duck to water, the back of his mind mused. It wasn't hard to believe any of this stuff; after all, he'd seen everything happen first hand. He was in a different outfit for Pete's sake. He wanted to learn everything he could as fast as he could. He felt like he'd been given new purpose. And really, he had, hadn't he? Not that his life before this night was especially bad, but it was kind of lonely. Now... He had a new hobby, he supposed. He just couldn't wait to get started.

"Oh là là! C'est intéressant!" She said more to herself than to the new page as he fixed her with an intense look of great interest. A bright smile grew on her face. "If you can keep up that attitude you'll become an amazing knight in no time." She was happy to meet someone who so readily took to their powers. Far too often it felt like knights and senshi were reluctant to take up their roles, and while on the one hand she could definitely understand being reluctant to join a war that you just learned about but she felt that if someone had power then they should use it for good.
She thought about his question. "Unfortunately I don't know anything about the wonder of Læraðr, you'll have to go there yourself to find out. However I do know that Neptune is a grand ocean world known for its music." She explained. She had learned alot over her many years as knight and she was happy to share what she knew with a new generation.
She considered, she supposed Caer could wait a bit more it was important to show such a passionate page the ropes. "I can show you the process if you have the time for a bit of a trip. I can show you my own, the great city hidden in the stars, Hyperborea." She offered.

Hah. Of course he belonged to a planet that was all about oceans. That sounded wonderful and lined up with what he knew about himself perfectly. "Guess I'll google it," he mused, standing up. Læraðr. He had no idea if his phone even supported.... whatever language that was. Ah well, he'd find a way. "Yeah. I just got out of work, so it's no big deal. Kinda beats going home and rewatching The Good Place," he joked. "I'd love to see it."

Hyperborea smiled. "You're about to see a very good place." She said with a laugh as she took the man's hand. She began to recite the oath that allowed her to travel to her world. "I pledge my life and loyalty to the Cosmos, and to Hyperborea. I humbly request your aid, so that in return I may give you mine." In a flash the pair vanished from the Earth travelling an unfathomable distance in the blink of an eye.
