The cookie place was gone absolutely just…gone...like it had never existed in the first place. Xander was coming over for a date, and Nelson felt so utterly at a loss of just what to do. But...there were other places in the city, he knew that. It was a huge place and if there wasn’t somewhere that Xander would like...well. That almost sounded like it might be a Xander problem…
A quick, frantic search of yelp let him find that there was a restaurant that specialized in Sichuan cuisine. Perfect. They could both numb their tongues...and Xander would be happy.
That was all that ever really mattered anyway. Xander’s happiness.
Nelson felt sure that this had been the best idea, and he went outside with a grin on his face to wait for his boyfriend. Even though it had been several months...he still wasn’t quite used to the fact that he was allowed to call Xander such a thing, and he wore a little smile as he waited, leaning up against the wall of the apartment building.

It was a relief to get out of the house honestly. Since Jace’s test had ‘gone wrong’, to put it lightly - though Xander could hardly believe that those could be accurate test results. It was JACE for heavens sake. Things had gotten, well… loud. He was supposed to ‘get Jace home’ to answer for what amounted to ‘his crimes’ which was ridiculous, and he was more than glad that he could stay with Holden for a number of reasons. Thankfully most of what their mother addressed to Xander over Jace being gone was verbal, he could live with that. Now, he even got to go out and enjoy spicy food with his BOYFRIEND and wasn’t that honestly the best cure? Maybe he could even sneak Jace a text without her reading over his shoulder! “NELSON!” he called, waving as he hurried towards him. His excuse of course had been going to see if they could find Jace to ‘talk sense into him’ but… yeah… obvious actual reason? Awesome boyfriend.

Nelson’s expression had gone utterly soft when his eyes landed on Xander and he smiled bright enough to rival the sun and moon. “Hi, Xander. I missed you!” He pushed away from the wall and hurried to meet the male, drawing him into a tight hug, squeezing him with as much strength as he could muster.
“...How are you h-holding up with everything? I know I said something about cookies...but I can’t find the place anymore. It...it must have been a pop up thing for the Star Festival or something…”
Sad but…
“I found a different place that I think you’ll like...are you ready to go? I feel like we haven’t seen each other in a million years…” When he drew away from the hug, he managed to steal a quick kiss from Xander’s lips and slid his hand into his boyfriends. “I still have the extra room all made up for you if you have to make a break for it…”

“Ah! You know me! I’m good!” Xander waved a hand, not because the offer of a place to crash wasn’t tempting.. he took the kiss though, smiling into it as they leaned into it because it made him so happy to have this… Besides, he couldn’t accept, not really. He wasn’t like Jace, he’d probably end up wrecking all the good he had with Nelson if he stayed with him and his sister. “Weird about the cookies, they sounded really good, but … maybe it was just they didn’t quite get the revenue they wanted?” He mused scratching his head in confusion. There were surprising shops that seemed to just vanish… but eh, that was capitalism he supposed. “Crazy excited about the Sichuan place though! You’re so good at finding the best places!!” He tossed his arms in the air to express his delight. "Also" he added leaning in to whisper conspiratorially. "Don't know if you know this...but I missed you too!" He winked and then added a peck to Nelson's cheek.

Nelson’s cheeks grew warm at the kiss and he nodded, slipping his hand into Xander’s. “W-well, if you’re ever not good. We have the room already made up for you...just so you know. I’m glad you’re excited. It should be really good.”
He was mostly quiet on the walk to the restaurant, letting Xander chat if he wanted, content with simply holding his hand and existing beside his boyfriend once again.
It felt wonderful.
When the two reached the restaurant, Nelson held the door open for Xander and smiled at the male when they were seated. “Um...this is going to be my treat...so get whatever you want, okay? You’re better with this food than I am. I’ll...I’ll eat whatever you get for me!”
He might regret it...but this place had milk tea...that should counteract any...well. Too much spice in his food.

“You’re ridiculous, I don’t deserve you!” Xander said shaking his head and trying to think of ways to pay Nelson back for this treat. “Let me treat to…something yeah? I know we both like this, but a whole meal! It feels like a lot right now, in a great way!” He squeezed Nelson’s hand gently with his own, swinging his arm back and forth, to swing their hands. “Are you sure you trust me to order?” He grinned. “What if I got something -expensive?!” Which they both knew he wouldn’t, not on Nelson’s dime.

“Of course you deserve me. No, This is mine!” He smiled softly and nodded. “Of course I trust you to order...I don’t care the price. I want you to have something nice, okay? If you want...we...we can get ice cream after and you can treat...but you don’t have to. We...could also just have dessert here, if you wanted it.”
After all, today was supposed to be something sweet anyway. It was only fair.
“Don’t worry about prices. Get what you think sounds good to eat. Okay?”
He didn’t want to add any pressure to Xander’s plate but…
Damnit he wanted to spoil him.
“...How are things going at home…?”

“It… It’s fine.” He said stumbling over the flippancy that he wanted those words to carry. “Mom is, upset…” He shrugged. “But as far as I can see Jace is in a good spot, so that’s basically perfect.” He nodded. He gave a laugh and rubbed the back of his neck, trying to push the topic back to dinner and the aftermath. “Fine, but I am treating us to like, ice cream after!” He nodded sounding sure of himself. “Uh, How about you! How are things at your place? How are studies? Any new uh…piercings for Q? She talk you into one yet? Maybe I should get one…” He rambled, anything to not talk about home. Nothing to make Nelson worry.

Nelson watched him with a gentle, worried smile and nodded slowly. “Well. I’m here...and the room is ready if you need to leave...or want to leave. Or just...want to come stay over. Um...nothing new for Q...I…” He felt his face heating up slightly and let his gaze flutter to the table. “...Where would you get pierced? Would...If you wanted one. I would go with you...m-maybe get one with you. I’ve thought about getting some earrings…”
It would look nice. Q had said so...and honestly he had thought so. “Maybe…in each lobe and one a bit higher. A cartilage piercing…” Nelson pinched his ear, near the top. “M-maybe here? Um...you would look good with anything, by the way. In case that...in case that was a factor. You always look good, Xander.”
He refused to agree to the ice cream...even if they did go out for it...he'd pay. No matter if Xander wanted him to or not.

“I mean…. ears are good…” Xander said thoughtfully. “But I could also do uh…” He grinned and then stuck out his tongue and bit it lightly. “You know, I heard things about that, and the… British Royalty ones…” Even as shameless as he was, he had to blush about the implications he was making. “You know, just… thoughts…” He shot Nelson a coy look, and then stuck his tongue out one more time. “I think I’d have to lay off spicy food for a little, but you’d just have to forgive me till it healed mmm?”

Nelson stared at Xander for a moment, his face turning pink, and reddening by the moment. “Oh...Oh I uh..Y-yeah...that...you...ah. Yeah...I wouldn’t mind um...you...that...you’d like...I’d like…”
He couldn’t think...ot talk. Or anything.
Somehow this conversation had become far too much to handle.
“You like...spicy food...I...would forgive you anything, Xander...you know that…'' Pale eyes flickered around the restaurant, pleased when he thought he saw the food coming. Maybe...god. The thought of spice was easier to deal with than the thoughts that were going on in his mind right now.
...It was all too spicy.

It was an itch of a thought to year ‘you like … spicy food…” though he couldn’t say why. So he pushed the thought away and just grinned at the reaction which was wonderful. Basically everything he’d been going for. “Yeah? Good thought?” He grinned, eyes sparking with delight. “Did I finally exceed your spice tolerance?” He gave a little side to side wiggle of his delight. “No pressure man, I think tongue would be fun, I mean, if I can keep Mom from threatening to remove it with rusty pliers.” He laughed like it wasn’t a threat she might actually make, along with disowning him and reminding him that he was the disappointing one. Well, he was normally the disappointing one, poor Jace.

“It...I mean...it is a good thought...Interesting...an!” He flushed deeper and put his face in his hands, stifling a moan of utter mortification. Though...when Xander mentioned his mother removing it with rusty pliers…
Nelson looked up, his embarrassment gone for the moment and a frown on his face. “If she..if she dared to try that. I would remove her with rusty pliers. It’s your body, Xander...and if you want a tongue piercing...then...then you should get one.”
Not to mention that Nelson would enjoy it...it...would be interesting...kissing with...with that.
He paused and his face began to heat again. “...We should do it, Xander. You and me.”

“HECK yeah!” Xander beamed, the idea of doing such a big thing together, well…that was huge. “ Same one? Do you want a different one? I mean, I bet your sister would be right there to help make sure it went ok, She and needles are like their own sort of OTP, which is you know… cool and all.” He mostly meant that, the idea of Q and needles still made his skin prickle because while she might be studying medicine and piercings, it was just… somehow more dangerous seeming when it was a friend. “Oh man, we should pick a day and go for it… Do you think it means we can't eat spicy for a bit? I bet it does...that would suck but.... we'd look SO cool.”

Xander’s enthusiasm made Nelson smile slightly, his eyes growing soft as he watched him. “I might...get my lip done? I don’t...I don’t know. Maybe some more in my ears...I’m not sure about my tongue...I end up biting it too often as it is...I’m not sure I could handle having something else in there to bite.”
He avoided the talk of spicy food, but thought that would be a very, very nice upside of all of it, and ran his fingers along his lips. “Maybe a ring...or snake bites? I’ve thought about that for a while...but...I don’t know. I’ll think about it some more, but I’ll go with you, and help you care for your tongue ring...I think…”
He flushed. “You’d be even hotter, even without the spicy food for a while. Because...You’re hot.”
...Obviously.
