High up in the trees, Asha was watching a few critters below playing with something awfully shiny. It was round and glinted in the sunshine that split between the branches in rays of light, casting a ray of light to dance around the trunks of the trees. She'd been watching them play with it for a few days, now, seeing where they stored it and if there were any routines to the family that she should be aware of. She wanted it. Oh so badly did she want it. It looked like a jewel. It must be a jewel. Maybe a family heirloom. They stored it away carefully inside a hole in one of the trees once they were done with the thing, tucking it in so it couldn't be seen from the outside. No one hid useless things that carefully. What were they doing with it, anyway? They just passed it around each other every day, like they were just showing it off privately. How pointless. You should keep it in the tree and never take it out. Or cats like her would see and swipe it.

Narrowing her eyes, Asha watched them put it into the hole in the trunk and walk away. She lowered her head to peer under the branch she had been looking over, moving her two front paws down to the thicker one she was standing on. They shouldn't be back for the rest of the night. They never had been. So, as quietly as she could, she snuck further down the tree, using her wings to glide softly down to the ground. But as she was moving closer to reach a paw in, someone else had the same idea. Before she could react, a male with black wings had swooped in and stolen her prize!

She opened her mouth to yell at him, remembered the family not too far away, and instead took off after him as quickly as she could. When far enough away, she did yell. "You a*****e!"
