It'd been 72 hours..Three whole days and Waru didn't know how to deal with it. He'd been soo tired after that night. Had only enough cognizance about himself to write the number down on an off used napkin in his own kitchen, before firmly throwing himself on the couch, powering down, and drifting off into sleep.

Of course that led to the next morning... or late afternoon.. or some time between sunrise and set. He couldn't have been bothered to track the way the days ran together when he put in overtime on his nightly activities.

The second he was up though? The second he'd gotten something sweet and caffeinated into his system, and food enough to count as a meal, the nagging feeling that he'd forgotten something very important chimed in. He spent the rest of the day scouring himself for a number - surprised again at the sheer ******** of uniform magic - the rest of the night hunting for a number - if not on skin then in his phone.

So on it went until he'd fished the napkin out of the small recycling bin just off to the right of the kitchenette countertop. Thanked all the gods that it'd not been recycling day. Which would've led to something if he hadn't been frozen in staring at it. Staring it down and feeling like an absolute a**, because it was well past the time he'd sworn he'd have called. The napkin became a picture, and the number ended up in his phone under Silver Fox.

It wasn't until the third day, just before lunch, that he drew himself up enough to call. Found a way to apologize that didn't make him sound like he'd been ghosting the poor guy on purpose.

"Hey..uhm...Eliot? Listen! Like, don't hang up, and don't get mad..It's waru, uhm - funny story about the number.." he hoped that if he pleaded a little, dangled the exciting daytime date out on a hook, that the guy wouldn't blow him off entirely.

The last three days had been utter agony. He'd given his number to a cute boy who seemed to return his feelings and was all about going out for a date... And then three days passed without so much as a text.

He'd really hoped things would be cool with this guy. Waru. He sighed, rubbing his hands over his face. He just wanted something special. Nice. Something that he could have to look forward to outside of being Thorite. And Waru seemed to want that.

Sighing deeply again, he almost ignored his phone ringing, until he remembered just why he was moping—then he launched himself at it and answered.

"Waru! Hey!" he said brightly, trying (and probably failing) to not sound desperate, "Hey, no, I'm not... hanging up. Just tell me what happened, kay?"

Waru took in air like a bellows, and let his mouth run free. Horses freed on the tracks, wild mustangs, corvette on nitro. He just talked, until something made sense, until he felt better. Hated himself just a little bit, because even though Eliot had waited on him for three whole days, the guy still sounded all sweet about it. Like the sugar out his mouth ran in his veins. Candy.

"It's, all sorts of convoluted and stupid yeah? The magical girl powers baffle me, but..whatever..the point? My point! The date, if you're free today? I've got time, and ideas...." endless ideas, and it was tough enough to reel himself in from a tangent; to yank the breaks on his breakneck pace of chatter. He wanted to take Eliot out.

Normal, fun, somewhere nice, he'd wracked his air infused brains over it - had nothing else to do over the last three days aside from agonize about agonizing and think of how to make it up to him for the delay. "How do you feel about arcades? Like - Roller rinks, n' prizes, the whole nine?" Waru didn't know normal, he'd never skated in his damned life. Eliot didn't have to know, there were all sorts'a things at the place, for all ages and stages. He knew they could find something to do together.

"I know I said you should pick, this just - sprung up in my brain.." the shrug and uncertainty wavered in his tone, and waru made himself pause and listen for five whole seconds.

Eliot couldn't help a small chuckle at Waru's explanation. Yeah, that sounded about right. Magical s**t was just weird. He liked hearing Waru's voice, though, panicky as it was. It made him feel warm, like Waru really did like him and want to impress him and if that just didn't send Eliot's soul soaring. How sweet of him.

He held the phone away from his face for a moment to giggle and squeal like a teenager into his pillow, then composed himself.

"Yeah? Well, I think what you've picked is pretty swell," he said, hugging his pillow to his chest and biting it to suppress his giggles. "I'm totally gonna skate circles around you. You wouldn't believe the kinds of things parkour can train your body for."

He hugged his pillow tighter, grinning from ear to ear. "You better win me a giant stuffed animal, you hear? We going right now, yeah?"

The inherent relief for that, commingled with the joy of getting to do something new. Eliot sounded pleased about it, like he’d done well. Waru wouldn’t say a thing about the skating part, would burry that because how hard could it really be? Clung to the notion of winning stuffed giraffes and playing video games - watching Eliot show off from the sidelines - because the man had the sort of legs that belonged on skates, and in motion.

“I’mma bury you in giraffes..” he’d never considered the man did parkour, but it would’ve explained so much. “Course we’re doing it now. I’ll send you over the address. Meet’cha there, bet you can outpace me to the place with your mad parkour skills.” And Waru had a car, driving would’ve been fine. He remembered Eliot had mentioned the baracks - or Thorite had - but still..

“You give me ten..Leme know if imma be looking for more cute getups, cause fun fact? The hairs godamned magical to.” The snort of laughter for that, obvious glee, because his whole life he’d never get his hair that long, but as a Senshi? Instant mega dreads. Waru thought it was insane sometimes, the unexplained inner workings of it all.

Eliot chuckled. "Hell yeah. I'll just sneak my way over real quick—in my unpowered form, too," he teased. "And I'll send you a selfie when I get there, so you can see this beautiful face for realsies."

"As for giraffes... Y'know, I'll just tell you when we get there, so we can actually be together instead of chatting on the phone for so long we never get out," he chirped, "See ya in a bit, Waru."

Man, he loved saying Waru's name.

Waru ******** blushed at the end of the call, felt his pace run, stupidly. Asked himself why he was so giddy over the idea of winning a stuffed giraffe and falling on his a**? Eliot didn't feel like the usual flings. Easy, light, and Waru didn't have to think too hard. Not that he ever thought to hard, but still...

It was all careless fun that bordered on recklessness for him; except it wasn't in any of the ways he was used to. Not the tease of fear or hint of jaws barely dodged that thrilled him into wanting.

Waru would stare at it, closely, examine it in his head when he had time. Maybe after? He didn't quite break the speed limit - in getting ready - or in getting there, but it was a damned near thing. Easy excitement he had at being present, as himself, and he wondered at what Eliot looked like in person. He knew the glamor changed things, enough to not be recognizable outside of it.

His dreads were shorter, and the sides were shaved, and his cargo's were green, and he'd grabbed a black shirt and some nikes. The tattoos were legit, and he liked them to show. Easy enough to park and wander out - shoot Eliot a text message attached with a selfie 'out front, where you at glam boy?'

A beast waiting on his beauty, even thinking it made him snort, stupid fun, and he was loving it.

Eliot had started out the second the call ended, jogging a fair amount of the way there to get there on time and hopefully not use up too much energy. He'd need to actually skate circles around Waru.

He grinned at his phone. 'Aww, cutie. Right out front. I see you!' He attached a selfie of him winking—wearing a hat just like the one he wore in powered form (because, look, he had some good fashion taste, and he thought he looked incredibly sexy like this) with a dark blue t-shirt and knee-length shorts. (If he fell, he was not getting skinned knees, thank you very much!). He didn't really change as much as Waru did. That picture was then followed up by one of Waru—in the distance.

He waved vigorously.

“Hey!” Easy enough to pick Eliot out from the crowd, and with the picture and text. Not a huge difference but still, it was nice to have an image to match with his face outside of office hours — which all seemed to run after midnight. “So the hats a whole thing? Cool, vintage is always in.” His grin stretched his face, smile lines evident, and he didn’t know if he should hug him..or high five or..hell any of the normal date type things? So Waru tucked his hands in his pockets, swayed into Eliots, natural to him, gravitational pull.

“So Mr. Parkour King? You’re gonna show me your moves” and the tease fell out of his mouth easily, no different form the nightly patrols. He’d aim to show Eliot just as good of a time.

Eliot grinned, leaning over to bump shoulders with Waru.

"You're darn tootin'," he said with a laugh, "Prepare to go down, sweetheart."

He tipped his hat at Waru with a small laugh. "And yes. I'm a big fan of that 1920's look. I don't have the outfit to match, but if I did, I probably wouldn't be dressed very differently from. Y'know. The office."

The office. Slow clap for Eliot. He snorted at himself.

“See this is helpful to me, because I have no clue what the office is?” Outside of the internet at least. He’d never had the attention span for long series, movies, sure? But those were short sweet and to the point. What Eliot was describing sounded more like a series thing. He was more of a browser of tv than an actual invested watcher.

“I can see it though, uh imagine you being from way back - time machine style? Just means you’re gonna have to get me to sit still enough to binge watch something with you, yeah?” Future plans for future events, and it was an easy thing to throw his arm around Eliots shoulders, enjoy just how tall he was. Squeeze a little and drag him along jovially. <********, the way you talk, anyone tell you you’re adorable?” easy enough to compliment and tease in one, and he adored Eliots mannerisms, his speech and easy broad smile. “So what do you wanna do first in here anyhow?”

And the front doors were right there - And waru was happy to pay and put out for the good time they were going to have together. Shoes sizes, wrist bands, token s**t - the whole nine -

Eliot gave Waru a confused look before he realized exactly what War had thought Eliot meant. He smothered a laugh and shook his head.

"Waru, hun? I meant when we're both... gussied up," he said, putting emphasis on it and hoping Waru would recall their first meeting. Damn, it was difficult talking about this stuff in public.

He couldn't supress his giggles anymore and leaned into Waru as they walked through the doors. He led them both straight to the skates counter as his answer to Waru's question—well, one of them, anyway.

He blushed, looking away a bit. "I, ah... No, nobody's ever said that," he said quietly, clearing his throat.

Waru's entire vibe read 'wha?' - expressed in physical form. The slow, slow dawning of understanding spread across his face; before crumpling immediately into a scrunched shrug. He caught the reference, to the face, lost it in the concussive after effect.

Waru didn't do offices, Albite, sure as hell didn't do offices! Let alone 'negaspace offices'. Because ******** offices times infinity. The reference helped though, cute little catch phrase that sparked a very pleasant memory -"Ooh, huhn...Yeah, I forget sometimes about the part time job where I work graveyard shifts as a magic mikes wannabe." the snort for that, a slow shake of his head, because he really godamned had forgotten his powered life was seperate and seperated from his daily life...

If not for the hair and lack of shirt though, and really shirt wearing was only mildly different from his average day to day. Shirts were often optional, most places he went.

Attention caught by Eliots assertion that he'd never - ever been complimented for something so cute. "You're shitting me? Cool then, I'll say it all the time. Honest to gods truth, people should be hopping fences and smashing glass to get atcha. Specially with the way you talk." and Waru was often fascinated by little things of that. Small pieces of glitter that lay embedded in other peoples personalities. Accents, languages, stutters, the words they used on the day to day. Even if it wasn't anything he could reasonably understand. Even if it had more syllables than the alphabet. They were lovely little peopleisms - and Eliot's? Eliot's were ******** cute.

Like his goatee, or love of an era, or the hat he wore. C u t e.

"I'm thinking with day passes we can start wherever--wait does that mean you won't watch the office with me?" sidetrack off a sidetrack, and Waru held onto topics like a sieve held onto water. He'd sift it all through and come back to it. Find out if Eliot liked movies, or the office, or. Anything else. His brain fast tracking to future events even when the current one was still ongoing.

Because he wanted more of Eliot. Instinctively. Even the little bits n pieces he was getting in bite sized parcels weren't quite enough to satisfy. He wanted his whole damned meal, and he wanted it right then.

Eliot wanted to kiss Waru for all the nice things he was saying. Man, he wasn't used to this kind of stuff at all, and the blush on his face spoke for itself.

"Heheh, ah... You're too kind," he said, ignoring Waru's question for a moment to give his skate size to the guy running the counter. The conversation switch gave him momentary whiplash and he had to break it by doing a totally other completely unrelated thing to get his brain on Waru's changing thought track.

"I... well, not because of what I said earlier," he said with a snort, taking his skates as they were handed to him, "Honestly, it's just not my type of humor. I hate the whole 'this guy is an a*****e and that's the whole joke' thing. I turned it off ten minutes into the first episode because it was so, like... physically painful to endure."

What Eliot thought of as kind, Waru simply thought of as true. An easy enough thing to say, especially since he meant it. A dopey grin and assenting humm, agreeing with Eliot on the terrible plot he knew nothing about - he wasn’t much of a tv guy anyhow. If the plot of the thing was annoying to Eliot, then it was also likely beyond Warus attention span.

The smile flickering briefly into apprehension when he had to give out his own size and take the offered skates from the guy behind the counter. Handing over the sparse bit of cash easily, while eying the wheeled shoes like they would bite. Waru was many things - graceful? Had never been one of them. He was neither ice skater nor ballet dancer, and moving on any sorts of wheels that didn’t have an engine and pedals attached to them had him wary.

“So no to office shows, and office jobs, office getups - we’ll keep all our conversations sans office relations…” half snorted sigh as he begrudgingly bit the proverbial bullet, and started to lace up with far more confidence than he had. “How about this then—what sort of non-painful, un-assholed show, would get you to spend an hour on my couch? Asking for a friend - that friend is me, myself, and I - by the way.” Eyebrow waggles and cheesy grin, and waru felt like he’d strapped a nice pair of greased cow hooves to his feet. How anyone stood in these things was beyond him. So he stalled - ran his mouth and sat right where he was.
