Arsenolite was wary of going out again, after the last time. He'd had his a** handed to him. But hopefully tonight would go better. He planned on getting a starseed this time, instead of just some flimsy energy. In a darker part of town, he prowled the streets—then grabbed his victim with a dark grin.

"Hello," he crooned, pinning them to the ground and laughing darkly at their weak struggles, "Prepare to die, sweetheart."

He grabbed both of their wrists and held them over their head against the rocky asphalt, and plunged his hand into their chest, grabbing the starseed. He delighted in the way their breathing caught in their throat, their wide eyes, the fear radiating off every inch of their body. He relished in it.

Slowly, carefully, he extracted it, watching the person go limp.

Good.

Alkmene did not consider himself a particularly heroic person. There was nothing about him that was powerful. He did not enjoy fighting, and he barely felt as if he was a particularly good person.

But there were things that he could not stand by and let happen, he supposed, or he was even less worthy of the power he'd been given than he was otherwise.

Watching a murder was one of those things. As much as he wanted to turn and run, because he wasn't exactly unselfish, that was still a bridge too far.

"Hey," he said, stepping into the alley, "let that go."

He sensed the aura just before the Order person spoke, and he looked up with a sharp grin. "Oh yeah? And who's gonna stop me?" he challenged, standing up and still gripping the seed. "You? You don't seem very confident in that."

He went to put the seed in his pocket. "You freaks need to learn to leave Earth alone and go back to your freaky alien bullshit in space. We do what we have to do to keep it safe from you disgusting nonhumans." He spat the word like it was a dirty curse, eyes practically on fire as he glared across the alley at Alkmene.

Alkmene snarled, striding forward.

"I don't know who told you jacks**t about Senshi, but I'm completely human, you absolute moron. I was born here. I grew up here. I've been myself for twenty-four years, I've been a Senshi for about one. So ******** off with your go back to space garbage." He wasn't brave. He wasn't bold. He was a planner, a thinker. But being told go back to where you came from? By some stupid ******** white boy with an ego? Yeah, no. Alkmene was not about that bullshit.

"You are going to put that starseed back, or I am going to make you regret it. I promise you that."

"Doesn't change the fact you've been given powers by alien magic to protect places that aren't Earth," he snarled back, hefting his slingshot in his hands. "We'll see who regrets what, won't we?"

His grip tightened and jaw clenched as he widened his stance, preparing for a fight. He would not lose. Not again.

"Come at me," he taunted.

Alkmene was not a polite, principled martial artist. If anything, he was quite the opposite. So it was with a certain glee that he ran forward, eyes on the officer's solar plexus. It weas there that he swung his fist, with the aim of driving the air out of his lungs.

A few solid hits, grab the starseed, and put it back. Easy peasy, very heroic, and Alkmene got to feel good about himself. Perfect.

Arsenolite scoffed in his head at the move Alkmene went to make. That s**t was so telegraphed they could've seen it coming from Timbuktu. He twirled out of the way, coattails flapping dramatically behind him, and went for a kick to the back of Alkmene's knee.

Alkmene was committed to the attack, and not at all ready for Arsenolite to anticipate him so easily and with so little effort. He yelped, and flailed to try and recatch his balance, but that meant trying to twist oput of the way, and--

Well. He was lucky he slammed his back into the wall, because it kept him upright.

s**t, s**t, s**t, oh s**t, he hated this. He hated feeling weak, and useless, and like Alkmene was basically no better than Malachi, he was just dressed fancier.

He snapped his leg out, aiming a kick towards Arsenolite's crotch, because there was nothing like a good one of those to make someone regret their life choices. The problem was, he also did not know how to not blatantly telegraph his moves.

Arsenolite grinned. Geez, this guy was almost worse than George McFly in that dumb movie his brother loved so much. He barked a harsh laugh and grabbed Alkmene's ankle, pulling Alkmene towards him to throw the senshi off balance, and then flipped Alkmene on his back on the ground.

Moving quickly, he straddled Alkmene's chest and plunged his hand in with a dark grin, getting right in Alkmene's face.

"You know," he said with a soft chuckle, eyes narrowing as he stared Alkmene down, "I think getting a senshi's starseed will really move me up in the Negaverse world. I mean, really, taking out a Senshi like that? I love it. I hope you enjoy whatever little crazy afterlife you'll be going to. Or the endless void of nothingness, if you're an atheist. Either way, you'll be dead."

Alkmene swore that for a moment, when Arsenolite's hand sank into his chest, his heart, prematurely, stopped. Something electric ran throguh him, and she swallowed, fear and shock mingling as he scrabbled to get a grip on Arsenolite's arm. All the confidence was gone out of him; he'd swaggered once, but now he was terrified.

"Wouldn't it be more beneficial to bring me in to be corrupted?" He blurted, desperately scrabbling to bargain. "I won't fight it, and then your side gets another Senshi, your leaders would be very impressed, I'm sure."

A desperation play, but Alkmene did not want to die.

It had been a long time since Eternal Sailor Penthesilea walked the streets of Destiny City. She'd returned home with her mother to New Orleans for a time, and from there, she'd found snatches of chances to steal away to her planet, but it was only recently that she'd returned to the city where her powered life had begun.

And already, there was Negaverse scum about.

She could sense a Lieutenant and a Basic, and she moved to check and se eif the Basic needed any help--and by what she found as she stepped into the alley,t he answer was "yes."

Penthesilea did not rely on her magic. In her years as a Senshi she'd had a growth spurt or two, and she was taller and more muscular now than she'd once been--and it was without hesitation that she charged forward, reaching to grab the back of the Lieutenant's jacket and hurl him against the wall. The shock, she hoped, would make him let go of the starseed before his arm was yanked out--and if not, she'd put the poor Senshi back together again once she was done with his attacker.

Arsenolite hummed, fingering Alkmene's starseed, still in his chest, as he pondered that.

"Maybe. I don't have the ability to do that," he mused, leaning close to Alkmene's face with a smirk, "But it would be fun. I'd like to keep you around, I think, cutie."

Just as he was about to pull back on his own, letting go of the starseed, a jerk on his coat choked him and he yelped as he was thrown backwards down the alleyway and into a wall.

"Whoa!" he shouted, holding his arms up and giving the lady a sleazy grin, "What, can't have a little fun?"

The longer that hand stayed in his chest,t he more Alkmene's panic rose. He didn't want to give this Lieutenant time to think, but he was also at his mercy, and so he was silent, letting him consider his offer. If he pushed, he might doom himself; that was the last thing he wanted to do.

And then--

The hand was yanked out of his chest, and he gasped for breath, sitting bolt upright and watching the redhead Senshi pin his attacker against the wall effortlessly.

Oh.

That was what power looked like.

Penthesilea walked over to the Lieutenant, and this time, she grabbed the front of his shirt to heft him up and hold him against the wall.

"Go," she told the Senshi, since his starseed was clearly still in place, "get outta here. And be more ********' careful in the future." Her New Orleans accent was heavy--once, it had begun to fade, but since she'd been home, it was all back.

"And as for you," she glared at the Lieutenant, "sure, you can have some fun. But the bad news is," she grinned, predatory, "it's fun for me to beat the s**t out of arrogant bastards like you. So why don't you just promise me that you'll crawl on home, and I won't have to end you."

Given the opportunity, Alkmene scrambled to his feet, turned, and fled. He was not going to hang around to see how this went. Absolutely no way. That redheaded Eternal was terrifying, and he did not want to see any more of what she was going to do.

Arsenolite glanced down the alley, watching Alkmene run away with a pout.

"Well, I suppose I'll go home, now that you let my cute little prey get away. I'll go straight home, but hear this, lady: he asked me to take him home. Wants to get corrupted. Asked me outright for it, even. And I don't tell lies, pretty lady."

He gave her a sharp grin.

Penthesilea rolled her eyes.

"For one, you really can't be expecting me to believe anything that comes out of the mouth of Negaverse garbage. Please. Y'all lie like you breathe." She shook her head. "And even if I did believe you, ain't blaming nobody for things they said with someone else's hand on their starseed. Pretty boy made the smart call, not knowing if I was gonna rescue him or no."

She let go of the Lieutenant and stepped back to give him space to run away.

"Get out," she gestured. "And don't let me catch you again. I won't be so gentle next time."

Arsenolite's grin didn't leave his face. "Be careful. You never know when we're telling the truth," he whispered, giving her a wink and a kissy face as he turned to walk away, a sashay in his hips to make his coattails flap dramatically. Ooh, he loved those things.
