The monster they had been fighting had come apart, and Houshi stumbled away from the fight, hissing in pain. Her arm was wrapped around her stomach, where she was fairly certain she'd pulled the stitches that were the only thing holding her together after what Atheneite did.

Stupid, stupid, it had been so incredibly stupid of her to break out of the hospital and go charging into a fight. She staggered for as long as she could, before collapsing against a tree close to city ********. She was going to waste the second chance given to her, all because she decided to be a ******** idiot.

Shikora had felt the flare of energy from her side of the city, and had done her best to bolt over, hopping into her car, parking it in a place that seemed close enough to the source, and henshining before making her way toward trees, hopefully toward where whatever was putting out that kind of energy was keeping itself hidden from view.

Only for the energy to die out.

Well.

Richtersveld had found herself unfortunately too late again, but she knew from what she felt that perhaps she should stay in the vicinity. No doubt the sirens she heard at a distance were signs that whatever it had been, it had been dangerous. There were probably people nearby that would need help more than being chased off. She ventured in a bit deeper, holding tight to the handle of the first aid kit she kept on her at all times.

She saw someone collapse again a tree.

"Ma'am!" Richtersveld turned on her heel and headed toward her. "Ma'am," she knelt down, "are you alright?"

The answer was clearly no, but she needed some specifics.

"Can you tell me where it hurts?"

Houshi blinked, briefly confused as to who might be talking to her, and thne she turned to look, and there, kneeling next to her, was an unfamiliar Page with a first aid kit. She took in a sharp breath, and then let it out between her teeth, hissing with the pain.

"....I was stabbed, a few days ago. Here," she moved her arm off her stomach, where there was definitely blood beginning to pool on her tunic, "and I left the hospital because I could see the monster in the distance." She gave a wry grin. "Stupid of me. I think I may have torn the stitches."

No need to obfuscate. She could get some help, and get back to the hospital, and maybe no one would have noticed her escape. Unlikely, but she could hope, couldn't she.

Richtersveld appreciated the lack of obfuscation. When patients were unclear about what was wrong, it was harder for her to help. She licked her bottom lip as she looked where the blood was pooling, nodded in understanding as pulled open the first aid kit.

Quickly, she pulled out a few things: scissors to get the part of her tunic open, butterfly bandages, and some medical tape.

"I'm sorry if this is invasive at all, but I'm going to need to get at the wound to help," she immediately lifted the scissors and started to cut gently at the tunic, careful to not cut her in the process. "At the very least these outfits regenerate, right?" It was a poor attempt to cheer her up, but it was an attempt nevertheless, and Richtersveld's gentle smile was an excellent show of her practiced bedside manner.

She saw the way the knight hissed and resolved to distract her from the pain as much as she possibly could by asking about other things.

"To be honest," she continued her cutting, "I felt the energy burst too, but I didn't make it here on time. So it was a monster? Do you know anything about it?"

Houshi nodded, and she wished, not for the first time, that she had a sharp, useful weapon. Her little ame-ame-bozu was nothing but a fancy decoration, and she couldn't use it for fighting or for utility.

How unfortunate.

"It's fine; even if they didn't, I care more about not bleeding out than I do about a dress," she smiled, but it was wry and tired. "So, you know. Destroy away."

She glanced bakc in the direction she'd come when Richtersveld asked about the creature.

"It was a..." She bit the inside of her cheek, pausing. There wasn't a good word in English, so she fell back on the one she knew, especially feeling as lightheaded and exhausted as she did. "A kaiju. A big monster, like Godzilla?" She huffed. "Made of light, and it fell apart into...did you see the wisps that were around town? It fell apart into a bunch of those."

"Always makes it easier when someone's willing to let me cut through their clothing." Richtersveld chuckled quietly. There were people she had come across that complained their outfit was expensive; her usual response was a calm reminder that while their outfit was expensive, it was replaceable. Life was not.

It, of course, helped that these things just regenerated.

Keeping Houshi distracted seemed to be working. Besides the biting of her cheek she seemed to be doing, there weren't any more hisses of pain. As Richtersveld removed the piece of tunic and evaluated the best placement of the butterfly bandages, she kept talking to her. "A kaiju of light--" Thankfully, Richtersveld was familiar enough with the concept of kaiju, even without the reference to Godzilla.

Her brother had enjoyed those movies a lot when they were younger.

"So a kaiju made out of light wisps," she blinked her surprise as she opened one of the butterfly bandages. "I guess that explains why the energy signature didn't feel particularly chaotic."

Richtersveld paused, letting out a, hmm-- "I saw the sign in town, asking for the return of those, now when I think about it. I guess they assembled into a giant monster and then unassembled?"

Maybe it was for the best that she hadn't found any.

Houshi laughed, a little. "Oh, I endeavor to make things easy for people making sure I don't die. Or get permanently injured." She shrugged her shoulders. "I dance, so I've spent a fair bit of time with doctors and trainers making sure that little accidents don't become something bigger."

This was someone safe to talk about her real life with, right? She was a fellow Page, so not dangerous. Houshi didn't want to think too hard about it, though, or she might get stuck worrying.

Plus, it was hard to think too much.

"Yeah, I don't think it was anything Chaos," she said. "There were people from the Negaverse fighting it too." She exhaled between her teeth. "But that's what it seems like, like all the ones that got collected came together, and got very, very angry." She snorted. "I wonder if that's what whoever was asking for them expected. I hope not."

"Oh, a dancer!" Richtersveld was, in general, a safe person to talk to. While she knew it was unlikely anyone of Chaos would ever divulge any personal details to her, Richtersveld took her creed to not reveal anything anyone told her -- with very rare exception -- just as seriously in this form as she did when she was facing a client at her practice. "You're definitely familiar with this, then."

The butterfly bandages were slowly placed along the gash, the first one coming with the warning of, "This might pinch a bit," as she made sure to push the skin back together as she pressed the bandage to the wound.

"Ah, I hope not," she knit her brows. "We got bigger problems on our hands if there's people other than those of Chaos wishing harm on us."

That was worrisome, actually.

Though perhaps if there was a greater enemy, Chaos might leave them alone for a while.

"I know it probably still stings, but the bleeding should ease off now." Richtersveld's experience made her efficient. She moved next to the gauze.

"Not this directly, but treatment in general, yeah," Houshi acknowledged. She took a quick breath at the warning, gritting her teeth against the pinch. she would have loved to be unconscious for this, but alas, that was not to be, and it was better for her to be awake and alert through the entire process, especially since she would have to get herself back to the hospital.

"I suppose only time will tell," she said. "But clearly, there are at least other forces out there. Which makes things interesting, in a myriad of ways." How did they fight something none of them knew or understood? From what she could tell, by throwing debris until it fell apart. At least that was an effective, repeatable strategy, then.

"Thank you," she said, and she paused, briefly. "...My name is Houshi. Page of Jupiter. What about you?"

Seiana_ZI

"It does." Richtersveld knit her brows. "I'm interested to know what those other forces plan for us, or if they're just some sort of neutral third party." She doubted it. Nothing in this war that she had been awoken to had seemed terribly neutral. It was what brought her to the city in the first place.

She knew her help was needed, here.

As she worked on wrapping the wound with the gauze she had available, taping the edges with a medical tape that was painless and easy to remove, Richtersveld offered a smile at the name offered. "A pleasure to meet you, Houshi. Wish it were under better circumstances, of course." She would offer her hand, but since she was occupied, she bowed her head as a sign of acknowledgment instead. "Richtersveld. Page of Pluto."

Thoughtfully, she added, "Haven't met anyone of Jupiter before."

"Neutral third party," Houshi sneered at the prospect. "I find it difficult to imagine neutrality between people defending innocent civilians and people preying on them. But I suppose there are those who would disagree with me."

Well. Perhaps she was being hasty. She owed her life to, of all things, a youma, after all. So perhaps she shouldn't judge the entire Negaverse based off the worst few. Perhaps there were people on her own side who thought of the civilians around them as fodder, too. It was impossible to know, with so many people involved.

She sighed, but met the smile and bow with a bow of her own. "A pleasure for me, as well, Richtersveld. I haven't met anyone of Pluto, either." Though her Knight acquaintances were strikingly lacking. "I'm glad you were on your way here, and that you were too late to fight the monster. There were plenty of us there, and if you weren't here, now...I don't think I'd have made it to find other help."

Honestly, Richtersveld had to agree.

She tried to keep an open mind in all of this -- that maybe some of these people hadn't realized what they had signed up for or hadn't been offered a choice, that not everyone of Chaos was truly a bad person -- but she had to agree. One party was defending the public and the other was actively preying on them. "Hard not to agree," she frowned, letting out a quiet sigh, "but I do my best to keep an open mind. Important in my profession."

She smoothed out the tape carefully, making sure it was secured fully for Houshi's travel to the hospital. "I'm glad I was here too. I'd rather just miss every battle if that always meant I was able to help in the aftermath." It was more important to her that people live than she maybe got to chuck a succulent terrarium at a few monsters.

Her weapon wasn't terribly much use anyway. Why use it when there were better uses for her talents?

"Does that feel secure? If it does, that should be plenty enough to get you to the hospital so you can have that restitched." She offered a genial smile. "And Houshi, if you ever see me again, don't be afraid to reach out. I'm," she chuckled, "a psychologist by day. Helping people out is kinda my thing."

Houshi nodded. "I don't know that every individual in the Negaverse is a monster--that would be an absurd suggestion--but their goals..." She sighed. "Keeping an open mind is to be admired, though. It's easy to just decide, and ignore other possibilities." Houshi certainly was guilty of that from time to time.

Once Richtersveld declared the work done, though, she reached down and very gently touched the bandages--not enoguh to disturb them, jsut to confirm for herself that they were set.

"It's good, yes," she leaned on the tree to start to push herself onto her feet, praying that she didn't dislodge anything. But the bandaging held, as it sohuld, when applied by a professional. "Thank you. Again." She nodded, briefly. "And...if we do run into each other, I think I might take you up on that chance to talk. But another time. I need to get back to my hospital room." It would be a bit of a walk, but she was certain she would make it.

"It is," Richtersveld, herself, had to be careful of that from time to time. Being a psychologist did not necessarily excuse her from biases, and she had to do her best to check them every day even when the urge to indulge them was strong. And with those who followed Chaos...

It could, sometimes, be a very strong urge.

Richtersveld got to her feet once Houshi did, shaking her head as she offered a, "It's no trouble at all. Definitely get yourself back to your hospital bed. I'll see if there's anyone else here that needs some assistance from me."

For a moment, Richtersveld reached out, put a hand on her shoulder, and squeezed lightly.

"And when you're ready, another time, I'll be here for you."

A promise.
