Time has been spotty for Wolframite. Much of his time was off providing support to other locations, having been overseas for lengths of time from a week or sometimes three at a time. After this he would return home in the Rift for some time with Laven, soaking up the time and contact, her voice and image, before he'd pack his things and leave again. It had been rough being away for that long, and yet each time he returned he felt Laven was growing more and more into her form and power, expanding against the walls of her being.

It was inspiring, and he felt a sense of pride on her behalf. Once his stay was done and he had settled some skirmishes across the borders of the states, he returned at long last. Suitcase unloaded and stored away, he felt eager to see how far she came.

The request was accepted.

They stood in a courtyard of several cafes and clothing boutiques on a summer night cooled by a rain that left the small tables and stones damp. Licking his claws, he rolled his shoulders.

"Been a while."

"Has it now?" Laven responded coyly. She raised an eyebrow in his direction and offered an amused grin. "Feels like only a day ago when you royally kicked my a**."

When you live the majority of your live in an area where there is no sun up or sun down, where one day bleeds seamlessly into the next, your sense of time becomes skewed. However, in his absence, she had become very acutely aware of the passing of time. Evenings when he didn’t come home she either didn’t go to bed or slept on the couch, so there would be something against her back, and a weighted blanket draped over her legs. It had been hard on her at first but eventually settled into his new routine.

Although now it seemed that the tasks which had kept pulling him away were at an end and she could expect to see him home more often. This gladdened her greatly and was one reason why she was quick to accept his request to spar.

Lavendulan griminced as she watched Wolframite continue coating his claws in venom.

Prior to his promotion to Captain, and a little bit afterwards, she had built up a bit of an immunity to its effects. However, in his absence over the last several months she had to wonder how much of that had diminished over time.

“I’m not as weak or unskilled as I was the last time we did this.” She winked at him almost playfully knowing full well he had no intention of holding back. That simply wasn’t his style; you don’t grow by being coddled by having someone go easy. Plus, his methods gave her a good reason to become a quick learner.

As he prepared, so did she.

The air around her suddenly shifted, cooling to a noticeable degree and at her feet a ring of frost expanded outward. Although the warm summer night air kept the radius small, it did at least allude to the understanding that she had more control over this ability than when it first manifested after he had been shot. What once left the bed coated in a layer of ice, was now an ability to be used to help aid her in a fight.

“Ready when you are.”

Passive Powered Enhancement: Path of Frost
The air around Lavendulan cools and as she moves a path of frost follows behind her. It lasts for about 10 minutes in cold weather, while in the summer it might linger for about 2 minutes before melting.

"A lot of time has passed since that day. You've grown. Even I can feel your signature has changed, and even if I was blind, you hold yourself differently. You feel more confident to me, Laven." He flexed his claws beside him.

"Makes it even harder for me not to keep my eyes off you. I'm glad I have eyes to see it." He said with a smile, and then, with a wink, he darted forward.

He moved for a direct attack, going straight for her, and swiped wide. He had felt the cold air around her, and he remembered her growth into her powers. While he was happy for her arsenal, he also couldn't help but think of Castor and that raw power of the elements he contained. It brought back old angers, old fears, and even older desires.

Did he have some want for the cold? Or was it just a sweet irony in his life to continue this way.

For Laven, he wondered if she cursed the power of the cold that came from being thrown in the ice and the fork in the road of past life. The point when the world went chill and she became a half-youma like him.

Lavendulan smirked.

She knew what was coming and the look in her eyes showed no fear. Wolframite had always been direct in his approach; it didn't matter if it was in conversations of things he wanted or expected out of life, or spars such as this. He may avoid it for a time but when it came to it he seemed to always hit it head-on.

It was one thing she admired about him, there was very little beating around the bush or trying to pull teeth to get him to do something. Laven always knew where she stood, or so she assumed. Yes, there were days she had doubts but those were because of her own insecurities or self-doubts and not really because he had said or done anything to make her think that way.

But now they were equals again, both Captains, which meant that she could fight him on a more even playing field. His experience would always trump her own but at least she no longer felt like his next prey because she could now match him step for step, or close to it. That fact aside, he had one other advantage that nobody else had; Wolframite knew her not just emotionally but intimately, which meant he knew where her new scales had formed and where she was still most vulnerable in a fight.

With a smile and a wink, Wolframite dashed at her and she jumped backward, evading his lethal swipe. “Flattery won’t win you this,” she teased. “But maybe we can make this more interesting…” Laven added as cool air swirled around her and the path of frost followed.

She dodged, and he turned, following her but moving to see if he could position himself more to her side than going for her front. His game plan for this - keep as little distance between them as possible and to test her endurance with each attack. If she kept running, he'd keep pushing, and hopefully get to the point where he could pin her somewhere she couldn't escape. Laven had been going on much more patrols on her own in his absence overseas, and he was curious how much she had grown and learned in that time.

It did worry him to not be with her all the time, but she was fully capable of standing on her own two feet. It also brought a sense of pride to feel she was coming out of her shell as a fighter and building more confidence in the field.

But regardless of how strong she would get, he'd always worry about her being on her own. Things happened, and that unknown would always loom like a shadow.

"How do we do that?" He asked, moving to try and go for another swipe.

Backward motions would always be slower than someone advancing forward and so the distance between them closed alarmingly quick. The frost that followed faltered in its creation and the air that circled them returned to a normal temperature.

Laven pivoted on one foot, tried to turn and twist out of the way but the low swipe was met with the sound of torn fabric. Sharp claws glanced off smooth scales that protect her hip with enough force to cause her to stumble. A hand stretched out to catch her before she kissed gravel but before she could touch the loose rocks, Laven disappeared.

A short teleport, a waste of precious energy. But even so soon into their spar, he was already overwhelming. Had it not been for her scales, that venom on his claws would have immobilized her and the fight would be over before she could prove to him how much she'd grown.

A small yet necessary sacrifice.

Standing about fifteen feet away, Laven grinned, looked more proud of herself than she actually felt. "Pick something you want, something only I can give you. If you win I'll do what I can to make it happen," knew already what she wanted to ask of him and would fight till exhaustion to have it or challenge him again later for a second chance.

Her form then shifted, the familiar water ball formed between both hands in anticipation of his soon to be approached.

Magical: Aqua Shift
While still retaining her actual form Lavendulan's entire body transforms into water.

When in this form she is one with her element; physical attacks pass through her unaffected like putting your hand into a flowing stream her body morphs around it. Her movement speed is increased, like a river upstream weaving through rapids, but not to exceed the next highest stage allowing her to change location quickly. While metamorphosis is active Lavendulan can bend water around her in a 7' radius. It takes one of two shapes; a sphere similar to size and weigh of a medicine ball or a thin whip. Both are used more defensively like a harsh shove to push someone over or a snapping sensation. At most, there might be a bruise in the morning unless the character she's attacking lands on something unfortunate.

Additionally, since becoming Captian, Lavendulan is able to pull water into her own form to mend up to moderate injuries sustained before initiating the Aqua Shift.

Duration: 20 seconds
Usage: 3
Note: Certain magic attacks still work but will need to be discussed before a battle. At General stage the movement increases while in water form will not match that of a General King or Queen.

"And you will follow through no matter the demand? You know I could ask you something you wouldn't want to do." He said, attention sharp as he gave pause when she shifted. The form was aggravating for someone who didn't have magic but worked through the physical. Poison. Claws. Strength. Water cared little for most of it and he wasn't sure how much poison would take to even affect her.

But it was worth an experiment.

He worked the glands in his mouth and licked his fur and spit into the palm. It wasn't enough to drench it, but if it caused even some distraction diluting in her body, they would both learn there was a weak point.

"What if I asked you to hurt me?" He asked. "What if I asked you to hurt others for me?" He continued, now moving to dash at her, u sure how far he could get to her. Had her aim improved with that ball since?

Should have been more aggressive with her advances. Should have denied him the time to apply more poison to his already lethal claws. Should have done anything except stand there while having what started out as a playful conversation. Oh how quickly the attempts to distract had been turned on her.

His questions took a darker turn and with it so did the seriousness of this spar. No longer was it a show of how much she'd grown, to prove to him that she was capable of defending herself, or him, or other officers new to all of this. Now Laven had no choice but to steel her resolve and actually try to win.

It took too long for her to remind herself that Wolframite was born and bred in the ideals and teaching of old Negaverse ways. A time where violence was the answer along with heavy hand and strict protocol. To him, and others of similar seniority, the Negaverse today would be considered 'soft'.

"I suppose I'd have no choice." She replied, swallowing thickly her heart pounded aggressively against her chest. All she could hope was that he didn't ask for such things.

Still, the questions were rather jarring and caused her to falter. Hesitation often resulted in lethal consequences and while Laven could move as quick as a General in this form, she was unfamiliar with the place he had picked for their spar. Her footsteps faltered in her sideway retreat but her arm swung in a motion meant to send the orb flying; instead the globe of water elongated into the familiar whip; a form that was not often used.
