Quote: It was already late in the evening but the merchant seemed unfazed by the passing of time. He sat, poised and elegant, watching the world around him. He didn’t seem bored but he sat, fingers laced atop the table; below it, he kept his toe tapping to some silent tune in his head. He was tall, by human standards, though while sitting down he didn’t seem particularly threatening. If you didn’t look at his face. He had graceful features--sharp and refined. His chin and nose tapered to a point, giving him an air of sophistication, but that, combined with his slitted eyes and pointed teeth, there was something undeniably predatory about him. He watched with a hungry gaze and a mischievous, nearly sinister smile. His ears were pointed and were prominent despite being tucked behind his vibrant, multi-colored hair. The most intrusive feature that indicated there was something not human about him were the curling horns protruding from his temples and the oil-slick black scales that brushed his cheeks and forehead. He was well dressed, in a fashion obviously otherworldly, and seemed to enjoy dressing himself up in glistening gemstones. His tables were somehow both simple and overwhelming; each table was draped with a dark purple tablecloth, all with extravagant embroidery in different designs. Scattered neatly atop the tables were an array of items that seemed to carry some magical weight to them. He did not seem intimidated in the slightest and, upon noticing that the barrier surrounding him rippled to allow his visitor to pass, he smiled. He did not rise to meet them nor adjust his position in the slightest. He followed them with his fierce eyes and greeted, in a silky voice, “Welcome.” Lapis nervously approached the bubble again with his captured wisp. He wondered who was on the other side of the barrier and what did they want with with the strange energy creature. Taking a deep breath Lapis stepped through the barrier finding a tall and alien man on the other. Lapis couldn't deny that the man was beautiful in a strange way, it brought a blush to the young man's face as he cleared his throat.
The man was surrounded by many strange and wonderful looking objects Lapis had no idea what half of them were. From the looks of things Lapis guessed the alien man was some kind of merchant, and based on the sign it would seem he was looking to barter for the wisps.
"Hello." Lapis responded in kind bowing slightly. "I saw your sign, I brought one of the creatures." He said holding up a jar with one of the wisps. "But who are you, what is this, and why do you want it?" Lapis needed some answers before he could go any further. He couldn't take it on faith this alien was on the up and up, no matter how pretty he was.

The merchant’s eyes flashed with interest and enthusiasm; as soon as the wisp appeared, his eyes trained on it, memorized it, and then returned to Lapis’ face. “Who am I? I’m just a humble merchant, traveled here here to Earth looking for a good deal. And some nacho fries.” He smiled politely, but it didn’t sound like he was joking. “Those,” he pointed to the wisp, “used to be one singular entity, but I’m afraid when I was traveling, I had a bit of a rough landing.” The crater he’d set up his wares in was no doubt a result of that landing. “It shattered into a few too many pieces for me to collect. But it’s one of my most prized possessions, and if I can get all the pieces back together again I can fix it. So, I just want them back. Before they get lost. Or damaged. Or into trouble.”

"You came to Earth for nacho fries?" Lapis asked a bit incredulously. "Only nachos or do you like other earth food?" He asked curious. He supposed nachos were delicious but he hoped this alien didn't limit himself to just that, there was plenty of other delicious foods, he was personally very partial to his homeland's cooking.
He thought about what the alien said "Was it a sentient being? Intelligent?" He wondered about the exact nature of this original creature. "Was it a servant of yours?"
Pivoting from that Lapis looked around at the various wares. "So you're a merchant? What do you sell? And what kind of currency do you take?"

“Oh, you ask many questions. I like that.” He reached for something beneath his table and, without having to actually look for it, he withdrew an extremely ornate chalice that could have easily doubled as an extravagant candy dish, complete with stem and lid. The crystal bowl was cut with many facets that all perfectly seemed to capture and accentuate the light inside. Atop of the clear crystal, an ornate silver lid encrusted with what looked to be a giant diamond in the center. It had a large silver stem and a beautiful, sturdy base with a few more gemstones embedded within it. A few wisps danced around inside already, and he looked from them, to Lapis. “I’m looking for these, specifically. And I’m willing to trade any you find for the treasures on my table. And then, when I have them all, I shall get my nacho fries. Which, I do not limit myself to--it’s just. When you get a taste, you get a taste,” he shrugged. “Earth has many foods I appreciate. And I’m open for recommendations, if you’ve got somewhere good in mind.” But, the wisps were his priority, so he had to force his attention back to them. “My wisps aren’t much on their own, but when they grow they’re supposed to become something magical. Something protective. Which, I think, should be a very great advantage given the dark corners of the universe that call to me. Have you happened to find any like them?” he asked, gesturing to the ones that dipped and bobbed in the chalice.

"You should try soba if you haven't, or ramen, or an old fashioned bento box." He mused thinking of all the delicious food of his homeland. It made him a bit nostalgic. But he did have to admit he liked nachos and other international food that were so popular in America as well even if he felt like some of the portion sizes were ridiculous.
He thought about the possibilities of these wisps. "They certainly sound impressive when whole. I can see why you'd want them." He put the jar he had with his wisp infront of the alien. "So what will you give me for this one. The young man asked looking around the strange man's shop.

The merchant stroked his chin thoughtfully as he eyed the wisp; his eyes didn’t stray from it for a long moment and. He had to force his gaze up to Lapis’ face and when he did, his lips were pursed thoughtfully. “Ah, well. I would give you anything on my table, but if you’re asking for suggestions...” He leaned back in his chair and mused, still stroking his chin. “Difficult to do, now that you’ve got me thinking about noodles and cute little lunches. Although, you’ve got a cute enough face, does it ever give you issue? I bet your enemies have a hard time finding you threatening. Forgive me if I assume incorrectly. Do you want something to strike fear into their hearts? Oh, well--” He paused and began to fish around beneath his table and pulled out something wrapped in purple silks. He extracted a pale white Oni mask, clearly handmade and aged, and yet in remarkable condition. The face was a strange mixture of beautiful and horrible, in that the monstrous face was both frightening and lovely. Even with dreadful features, the handcrafted shape and delicately painted silver accents seemed like a work of art worth admiring. The mask had one dangling silver earring--a small, shining Saturn symbol. “I’m rather fond of this one. Pretty, like you. But guaranteed to strike fear in the hearts of your enemies, don’t you think?”

Lapis' face turned a crimson shade when the handsome Alien man called him cute. Lapis had many feelings about himself but none of them had been cute. Was the alien just trying to make him feel better about himself so that he'd be more likely to make the trade. Well if that was the case Lapis couldn't deny it was working as a warmth spread through him at the compliment.
Striking fear into his enemies. It was a curious idea, did Lapis even have enemies. He supposed after he purified the Negaverse would be his enemy. He ran his hand over the mask. What a fascinating thing, it looked so much like Japanese Oni mask it was incredible. It was beautiful yet terrifying at the same time. Lapis's hand rested on the silver charm. It was a symbol he had seen on Aokigahara before, the symbol of Saturn. He wasn't sure why but he felt like the mask was calling to him like he needed to have it.
"I'll take it." He said blushing again at being called pretty. He turned over the wisp in a jar.

“ Sold,” the Merchant said pleasantly; he scooped the wisp up and seemed glad to make this exchange. “An excellent deal for the both of us, I think. I have to admit, I’m a little surprised at your tastes, but I suppose that goes to show. You can’t judge a book by its cover, right? Or whatever it is that they say.” He was tender with the wisp, carefully guiding it into the crystal container where he stored a few of the others. Though they didn’t seem particularly aware of the world around them, they bobbed and dipped together within the container and even almost seemed happy. When the wisp was safe and away, he gestured to the mask. “All yours. Thank you, very much.”
