In the Water (8 ) : The Destiny City Reservoir is open year round but without fail always gets the most attention in the summer. It's a nice escape from the big city; it’s a five minute drive outside of the Eastern side of town and features clear water and sandy beaches--although, the sand here is notorious for squeaking when you step on it. It’s a hot spot for all fun summer activities, but recently something strange has been happening under the water. Sometimes, people feel like something is grabbing their ankle, even if they are just wading in the shallow end. In the deeper parts of the water, it gets a little more intense: something has been said to grab onto ankles and pull. People have been warned about dangerous pranks, but so far no one has been caught. In the shallow end, anyone unfortunate enough to be targeted may feel themselves being knocked off their feet and tugged into the water; anyone in deep water may feel a firm grip on their ankle, tugging them lower and lower. Somehow, anyone it targets is freed--either by wriggling and fighting, or because someone intervenes and pulls the would-be victim up. No one has drowned in the lake. Yet. It's impossible to see who, or what, is doing this, but it usually gives up after one failed attempt. Usually.

So far, the summer was unbearable, brutal in it's heat, and the air quality was s**t, so Glen was honestly cursing himself for deciding that maybe he should leave the house, go wade at the reservoir for a bit like other people. Yeah, what other people idiot? It was clear on this day, no one was really out, and he couldn't blame them. Normally, people in Destiny City flocked to the reservoir on hot summer days, thinking a swim or some wading in the shallow waters would be the perfect solution to cool down, but for once it was actually too hot for anyone to really want to do that. At 95 Fahrenheit, with a more realistic feeling of 106 (not too far from the 115 that would mean Glen was literally cooking himself, which was terribly morbid, but he thought he earned it on this trip), only the bravest or most desperate of people were out, and unfortunately for Glen, he was desperate. He'd have been perfectly fine at his house had the AC not picked that day to die. So, angry, sweaty, and all around pissed, he called a repair company who were so booked they couldn't come out until next week, he scheduled it and just decided if that was the case, he'd probably be better off wading, not swimming, since, with his limited vision, swimming in large bodies of water was sort of frightening now, he'd rather just wade in the shallow parts, Glen took a drive on his moped to the reservoir.

It had gone well the first hour or so, no one really bothering him, he was able to enjoy some shady spots he had found, but the longer he stayed the more he couldn't shake a strange feeling, as if someone was there nearby, though when he looked around no one was there. Now, he had sort of heard of the rumors of someone, or something, that grabbed at you from under the water, but figured eh, if it wasn't going all out, it wasn't a youma, probably just some jerks, maybe, it was a bit too planned he figured, ah well, it hadn't happened to him yet. He walked around again for a while, not minding the strange squeaky noises of the sand, debating the merits of getting trunks that would allow him a decent sun tan, when he finally felt hot enough he decided to just dip a bit into the shallow part of the water, just past the shore, and there was when his paranoia went up. that feeling of of a presence never really went away, even on land, and now back in the water he felt it strongly, but continued to try and ignore it, until he saw the ripple of the water, and the slight sharp tug at his ankle. Before he had the chance to scream he felt himself start to be dragged in, by a strange feeling hand. Without thinking he kicked out, remembering in his shock and near panic that most people who experienced this said that once they began fighting back, the creature thing would leave, which is just what it did the second it seemed like Glen had kicked a face. He didn't bother waiting, simply turned and waded, then ran, out of the water. As far away from it as possible, and cursing his damn luck once again. Would there be any year he could catch a break? Watching a shadow in the water swim quickly away, he figured no he would not.
