Quote:
It was already late in the evening but the merchant seemed unfazed by the passing of time. He sat, poised and elegant, watching the world around him. He didn’t seem bored but he sat, fingers laced atop the table; below it, he kept his toe tapping to some silent tune in his head. He was tall, by human standards, though while sitting down he didn’t seem particularly threatening. If you didn’t look at his face.

He had graceful features--sharp and refined. His chin and nose tapered to a point, giving him an air of sophistication, but that, combined with his slitted eyes and pointed teeth, there was something undeniably predatory about him. He watched with a hungry gaze and a mischievous, nearly sinister smile. His ears were pointed and were prominent despite being tucked behind his vibrant, multi-colored hair. The most intrusive feature that indicated there was something not human about him were the curling horns protruding from his temples and the oil-slick black scales that brushed his cheeks and forehead. He was well dressed, in a fashion obviously otherworldly, and seemed to enjoy dressing himself up in glistening gemstones.

His tables were somehow both simple and overwhelming; each table was draped with a dark purple tablecloth, all with extravagant embroidery in different designs. Scattered neatly atop the tables were an array of items that seemed to carry some magical weight to them.

He did not seem intimidated in the slightest and, upon noticing that the barrier surrounding him rippled to allow his visitor to pass, he smiled.

He did not rise to meet them nor adjust his position in the slightest. He followed them with his fierce eyes and greeted, in a silky voice, “Welcome.”

With a wisp each, why not they both take one to observe, Itokawa was giving his partner a gentle nudge as they continued walking. "Nothing seems to have followed us, but there are still so many of them around the city we've seen." More than he'd expected but they didn't seem to follow after either of them.

"So maybe they aren't sentient even if they are alive...like a plant." Where plants would move towards a light source, over time, but they didn't think or react to things like an animal would. Alive but not sentient enough to make choices beyond moving to a water or light source. It seemed that might be what these were.

"These two also don't seem upset with being held captive by us." Which was another thing. They just seemed to hover inside their containers, not that it was a bad thing, he was glad they didn't seem to have enough sentience to be upset with their predicament. He didn't want to imagine if something magical was upset with him, he didn't like the idea very much. "If we get them home perhaps we can keep them by the bedside table, where my snow globe is." A gift from an alien merchant, he'd told Bell about it, it was still a very special thing to him and remained at his bedside. "They might provide a nice light even." Something just ever so faint but still enough to see a bit by - like a night light.

While he was talking, and not looking, he managed to stumble on his own two feet, grasping onto his boyfriend suddenly, he nearly took them both to the ground. “Sorry.” He really should have been paying closer attention to where he was walking. The ground had suddenly dropped to a slope and there was a root, with no tree around for it to belong to, and that was likely what he’d also managed to trip over - aside from his own feet. Taking the time to look around he spied something...something familiar.

“He’s back….” Trailing off as he tugged on Bell’s sleeve. “He’s back. The merchant - the alien one I told you about.” The one who gave him the snow globe, which he’d just been thinking about. “I wonder if he knows about these wisps….I mean he knows about a lot of things. He’s seen senshi and the negaverse in space, though rare, but never us. But he’s seen a lot - traveled alot. Maybe these are from somewhere else and he’ll know.” And he could finally show his partner the merchant up close, so he understood just how amazing he looked! Plus he’d gotten an upgrade to super and he wouldn’t mind letting the merchant see him now, the other had said he’d be back and would like to stay and observe more - right?

“Come on Clue, we should go see.” He was excited and understandably so, at least he knew it was understandable, as he tugged his partner along with him - laughing as he went. “I wonder if he’s gotten new things since he was last here.” And he wondered if he’d make it a habit of coming each year during the star festival. If so he’d have to find him each time.

Their search for the meteor had proved unsuccessful for the first part of the night. They had searched for a couple of hours, the wisps that they had found continued to hang around them, and it wasn’t until they had both decided that they needed to move further into the forest that Bell said something again. Itokawa had done some of the talking about the wisps and Bell couldn’t help but agree. “Destiny City appears to attract a lot of magical things. It makes me wonder if any other cities have this sort of phenomena as well.” Not that they could really travel around at this time.

And even if they did, if they powered up somewhere unfamiliar, that could lead to trouble. Even if the Negaverse didn’t attack the Dark Mirror on sight here, or Order for that matter, that didn’t mean it would be the same everywhere. It chilled him a bit. They had moved somewhere that was more accepting of themselves, but it was almost like being trapped.

As though in both their civilian and powered lives they wouldn’t be allowed to travel freely. He sighed and reached out to squeeze his partners hand, laugh a bit as he was nudged slightly. At least Itokawa was here with him. He didn’t have to feel all alone in this.

He looked at the other, a bit surprised at what he was thinking. “Well, even if we think that they are like plants, don’t you think that’s a bit mean?” He said, lightly teasing the other. He remembered the snow globe. He thought it was odd coming from a literal alien. He just hoped that it wasn’t there to do something that would hurt them.

Suddenly Itokawa fell down and Bell only barely managed to keep on his feet and hold the other up, especially considering that Itokawa was now a level above him. Perhaps the physical power difference wasn’t too great?

That was when Itokawa mentioned that he was back and before Bell could ask the Super clarified that it was the merchant. So this was the mysterious merchant that had allowed clue to take the alien snow globe? Bell wasn’t sure if he wanted to meet him, but Itokawa appeared to be enthusiastic towards meeting the alien again. If his partner was that confident in the alien, he could only trust him that they would be safe. But if there was any weird shenanigans that went on that he was uncomfortable with, he wouldn’t hesitate to leave if he had to.

He let Itokawa tug/drag him towards… whatever the heck it was that they were going towards. It didn’t appear to be anything other than maybe a reflective surface. But as soon as he saw the sign he realized that they appeared to be heading towards… something.

He was soon dragged into the whatever it was by Itokawa and almost jumped in surprise at what he saw. It was what appeared to be a man with horns and a passion for purple with some tables set up in front of him containing items. Bell decided to let Itokawa do the talking for now.

“Dark Mirror Senshi!” The merchant greeted brightly, eyes flashing with interest as he approached. “You’re getting stronger!” he complimented. “And multiplying! So good to see, I’ve thought a lot about you while I was out. Come, come closer. I won’t bite,” he insisted, and sat up straight in his seat.

“I’m sure you saw the sign out front,” he said, and gestured to the bubble behind them as if inviting them to poke back outside and take a peek if they hadn’t seen it already.

“I’m looking for something very particular--something of mine that’s escaped me. They’re sweet little things, just little balls of light that float around. They’re harmless, for now, but I need them back quickly. I don’t suppose you’ve found any on your travels? I’m willing to trade you some of my exquisite items in exchange. You’re getting quite the bargain, if you’ve happened to recover any for me.”

"You remember me." He might have been memberable, with all the questions he'd had for the alien merchant. "I did, it's recent..." Looking down at his far more elaborate uniform. He knew it meant he was stronger but it was so flashy it was hard to look confident in it, it made him feel a bit over the top and ridiculous to be honest. "You've been thinking about me?" He asked, curious but also flattered.

Letting Bell's hand go he approached the alien, fingers brushing Bell's hand. he wouldn't force Bell any closer than he wanted to be.

"I did see the sign. I'm glad to sere your back and safe, I hope you've seen more in space - new things." New things which he'd love to know about, he wanted to know they weren't alone in this big, and vast, space out there. It was nice to know things were more populated then one might think. Though it was sad there weren't dark mirror senshi elsewhere...or that there weren't many more populated places, especially near by.

"We found two tonight actually, we both took one to try and find wher they belong. We would have kept them at home if we didn't find a place for them. There are a lot of them in the city actually, it's been on the news." Not that he was sure the other knew what the news was. It wasn't that he didn't think other places didn't have news, of some sort, but it likely went by some other name which would make sense. Language would always be an issue and a barrier...words that were used to describe things and such. Though the alien here seemed to have a good grasp of the language, better than he had when he'd moved to Destiny City.

Bell was a bit surprised that Itokawa talked to this strange... alien so easily. He would have called it a "man", but the horns and weird hair and weird feeling around the place reminded him that this guy was probably not from Earth. It may have just been from his experiences, but he wouldn't have been able to so easily trust this alien.

He walked up to stand next to Itokawa, feeling safe enough to do so, but guarded enough just in case the merchant attempted to do any funny business.

But he couldn't deny that he was interested. If there was an alien, even if he did travel, that could mean that there was even more life out there in Space that they knew about. It was a bit comforting.

He couldn't help but speak up after hearing about the ball wispy things. "Why do you want them so much?" He couldn't imagine they were being used just for collecting.

“I never forget a pretty face,” the Merchant assured, and smiled at Itokawa before moving his gaze to Bellerophon. “I’m a bit afraid to hear about what they’ve been saying on the news, but I suppose I haven’t had enough trouble yet to worry about it. But.” He smiled sweetly. “I’m looking for them because they’re part of a much larger piece. When I arrived on Earth, they were all collected as one--as they should be. But because my landing was a bit rough,” he sighed, “They’ve separated. And I’m worried that they’ll become a bit volatile if they’re torn apart for so long. It’s unhealthy, they might get agitated and a bit dangerous. So, if you’ve got any, it’s best to return them to me promptly.”

He sighed, a sad, despondent noise. “I’m not asking for charity, of course. You’ll be well rewarded. I’ve clearly got the means to commit to a reasonable exchange,” he said, and gestured to the wares on his table. “I can even help you find something worthwhile--something you can actually appreciate. Come take a look, I’ll convince you,” he said, and leaned back to let them clearly see everything on his tables.

He moved a few things and seemed contemplative.

Dark Mirror Senshi,” he mused, and clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. “Oh! Let me--yes,” he said, and moved a few things across the tables before going to a box underneath his table. He pulled out two little items--the first, palm sized trinket with a crystal clear gem and a golden backing; it had two pale green, iridescent pair of wings attached to it. The gem in the middle sparkled, like it had a hundred little facets just waiting to reflect light. It was delicately crafted, with flourishing gold swirls that only gave it a more intricate beauty. It looked like it was made to be fastened to a chain, or laid on a flat surface. This, he pushed towards Itokawa.

The second item, another carefully carved golden instrument, also had a little hoop at the top that made it appear as though it was made to hang off of a chain. The back was flat, and the face of the pendant was carved with a lion, only it had goat horns protruding from its forehead, and snake fangs. Scales had been carved into the border, and something glinted in the lion’s open mouth. He pushed this towards Bellerophon.

“Seems like you two could use a bit of light.”

He pressed the gemstone in the middle of Itokawa’s item, and tiny, pea sized balls of light suddenly manifested to float around the gem. The gem reflected the light and cast a magical little glow from it. For Bellerophon’s item, he pushed a hidden button on the back, and a little fiery flame erupted from the lion’s mouth; he ran his fingers through it, as if to show that the flame could do no damage. The magical fire seemed for illumination purposes only, and couldn’t catch anything around it on fire--but it was a miniature torch capable of illuminating the darkness a bit.

Bell suddenly felt a bit jealous about the Merchant flirting with Itokawa a bit and and couldn't help but glare a little. Still, it appeared that the Merchant really was trying to do business, so he had to put his feelings on the backburner. He also knew that Itokawa wasn't encouraging it. It was just a flash of jealousy that he had felt was all.

The items that the Merchant pushed towards them were interesting, and Bellerophon couldn't help but feel a bit of Wonder at the torch that he would get in exchange. "H-how did you get this?" He said before he could think about it. For some reason it felt... familiar. And he wasn't sure if he liked the feeling or was afraid of it. Like he was missing something.

And why did these items appear to be so tailored to them? He had too many questions and he doubted that the Merchant was willing to answer any of them. Guess it was a way to keep business or whatever.

Bellerophon sighed and handed over his wisp in exchange. He wasn't too attached to it, but he did feel a bit guilty about giving the little wisp that hadn't done anything wrong to this stranger. He still felt as though he couldn't trust him. But... he needed the item. Even if it had a silly little button in the back, he felt a familiarity with it. "Uh, thank you."
He said, attempting to sound sincere about receiving the item. It was hard when all he felt was suspicion.

"So the wisps are alive then? Or at least sentient....and yet also as a whole they are? Is it like one mind broken apart then?" Wanting to best understand what was going on, even while he reached for one of Bell's hands to hold on to. "Mmm, I know you can pay well for the wisps. I remember the last time you were here." And he still had the snowglobe from the other, it sat right by his bedside. He adored the unique item, it felt special and comforting. It wasn't something he'd ever lose or misplace.

As an item was lifted from the table by the merchant he found himself again, like last year, staring in wonder at it. It was lovely and he took it into his one free hand when it was offered. "I'll take it, for the wisp I have."

Then watching as the merchant spoke and activated the itmes he couldn't help staring from his own to Bell's. "They are amazing...." They were fitting even, without a doubt they were fitting. The little orbs of light from his own item reminded him of a fairy ring. The item in his hand had that same sort of comforting feel as the snow globe...like it was meant to eb with him and in his hand. "Bell, you like the itme he gave you?" He asked looking to his partner to see what he thought, wanting the others opinion. If it wasn't something he wanted the merchant certainly had many more items to exchange.

"he travels space..." Licking his lips as he spoke. "All different plants...there is still life out there...." Just not any dark mirror senshi like themselves - but that was ok.

"How is space, since the last time you were here? Senshi, knights and chaos. There aren't any dark mirror senshi in space yet are there?" Assuming, by his actions, that Bellerophon liked the item he dug out his own wisp and handed it over as well. "We'll make the deal. You seem to have gifts which are perfect...they feel like they should be with us."

Leaning into his partners side as he spoke, he didn't mind letting the Merchant figure out that they were together. He wasn't going to out right kiss Bellerophon but he didn't mind showing his affection to his fellow courtmate.

"Will you be staying a while this time?"

As soon as a wisp was offered, the Merchant scooped it up and tucked it away in the chalice. The little balls of light bobbed playfully with the others, and when he wasn’t worried about trading the wisps he was able to focus on answering questions.

He didn’t seem even remotely perturbed or put off by the fact that the two seemed so affectionate with each other. “Space is space, big and lonely. I like Earth, it’s good to be back. I’ll stay for a while, but it really depends on how quickly I can get those wisps back. I’m missing them. It’s a bit difficult to explain them--cosmic entities, you know.”

He tucked the wisps away, hiding the chalice of them safely beneath the table.

“I find things in space,” he answered Bellerophon. “There’s a lot to explore, and I’ve got to do something to pass the time. I’m glad I was able to bring you both something you like. I have quite a knack for connecting people with things of value.”

Bellerophone felt like he should have some sense of familiarity with the object, but it was as though there was a barrier. Perhaps with time he would find out why or what he should feel about it. He let Itokawa lean into him and wrapped an arm around the other. He was starting to feel a bit like a third wheel with how the two knew each other, and how Itokawa wanted the alien to stay.

Perhaps he should get to know this merchant better as well. They didn't have access to their celestial objects. Maybe this alien did.

He kept it to himself though. "At least it fits my theme." He said, taking a look at the torch once more. Perhaps he could use it for... something. Whatever it may be. He certainly couldn't in Mirrorspace yet unless someone else took him. It grated on his nerves a bit to be unable to go into what should have been their supposed home realm.

But there was nothing that could be done and he wouldn't it bother him. He looked at Itokawa, giving him a look that seemed to silently ask, "are we good to go?"

Space was just that - big and lonely. It seemed like it every time you looked up at the night sky...though it also looked bright and full of promise. So many planets and stars and possible homeworlds to so many knights and senshi...and one of those had once been his - right? But it wasn't now and he was ok with that, in a way. It was something which should have been but never had...so he couldn't miss it but he did think about it every so often.

Looking to his partner he nodded his head. "Yeah, I'm good to go." And he was, he wanted to inspect the item more, inrpivate, and spend time with Bellerophone.
