Predatory Puddles (6) : Summer rains aren’t uncommon, so finding puddles dotting your path isn’t in itself particularly surprising or abnormal. However, as you walk past them, you feel the sensation of being watched, like eyes are on you. If you look into the puddles, you don’t see your reflection--nor the reflection of anything familiar to you. Instead, you see strange, decayed buildings, and odd, rotting plants. Something is watching you through the puddles, but before you can investigate, between one blink and the next, it’s all gone. When you look back, the puddles are oddly non-reflective, and then in the next blink, they’re all gone. The feeling of being watched doesn’t fade, though.
Lapis lazuli wandered the park, normally he would claim that he was out on patrol however after his little run in with the half youma lieutenant he knew he couldn't even pretend that he was a functioning member of the Negaverse. The young lieutenant knew he would be reported and he would be branded a traitor, just like the other lieutenant had called him . It wasn't even like he could defend himself, what would he say that he was preventing the other officer from killing a civilian. He knew the Negaverse wouldn't care, the higher ups would only care that he had raised his weapon to a fellow officer and he had interfered with an operation. Lapis knew what he had to do, he had to find Camelot. He wasn't sure the exact price for treason but he imagined it wouldn't be pretty. Throughout history in most nations it meant a slow and painful death, sometimes the death of your entire family. Lapis hoped it wouldn't come to that but he knew he couldn't take that chance he had to leave now. He was scared, he couldn't deny that. Would youmaification be his fate, he had heard of that being used as a punishment. He shuddered at the thought.
He tried to calm himself down as he walked through the woods. The trees were still wet from the recent summer storms that had rolled through recently. He passed by a puddle but what he saw out of the corner of his eyes made him stop dead in his tracks. Looking closer he saw decaying buildings surrounded by rotting plants. It was as if he were looking into an apocalyptical future. Was this what lay in store for Destiny City. It was a terrifying thought, he prayed he was incorrect. To make matters worse he was certain he was being watched. He couldn't explain it but he felt a shiver go down his spine like some predator was eyeing him up. For a moment he worried that he had already been reported and the Negaverse had sent someone someone to take him out. He summoned his Shinai readying for a fight, he decided that he wasn't going to go down without a fight. That was when he noticed that he didn't sense any powered signature, not order and not chaos. There was no one magical there. But still Lapis couldn't shake the feeling that there was definitely someone watching him.
Lapis searched the area briefly trying to make sure there wasn't a civilian or something spying on him but he couldn't find anyone. Maybe he was paranoid but he was so sure someone was there. He returned to the puddle but it wasn't reflecting that horrific vision no it was just a normal puddle now, with one exception. A small blue star charm, Lapis reached down and plucked it up. He smiled to himself. He must be losing it, it was probably just the stress getting to him. But still he couldn't shake the feeling of being watched.
