Predatory Puddles (6) : Summer rains aren’t uncommon, so finding puddles dotting your path isn’t in itself particularly surprising or abnormal. However, as you walk past them, you feel the sensation of being watched, like eyes are on you. If you look into the puddles, you don’t see your reflection--nor the reflection of anything familiar to you. Instead, you see strange, decayed buildings, and odd, rotting plants. Something is watching you through the puddles, but before you can investigate, between one blink and the next, it’s all gone. When you look back, the puddles are oddly non-reflective, and then in the next blink, they’re all gone. The feeling of being watched doesn’t fade, though.
When he had first gone out at sunset it hadn’t been raining. He had only intended to be out for the small break in the weather so that he could try and gather some energy. Even if they had no one to keep tabs on them and watch them to get a specific amount of energy, it didn’t mean that the Dark Mirror could be neglectful. It was what allowed them to power up after all. Though he had to admit that he was curious what would happen if they managed to lose all of their energy. Would they be able to switch to a White Moon Senshi? He was pretty sure it had done before and vice versa, but that was while they still had all the energy that they needed.
But he wouldn’t let that happen while he was still within the group. There was no need to experiment on something that could go terribly wrong for everyone else in the Dark Mirror.
Unfortunately, while the festival was still going on, there didn’t appear to be many people in the area that he had chosen to hang around in, taking a look over one of the rooftops now and again just in case. His wraith was doing as much as it could, but he certainly couldn’t push it too forward. There was a chance that they could be spotted, and he did not want his wraith to be destroyed.
He moved back to the middle of the rooftop that he was on, glad that the clouds were finally clearing away, but felt as though he were being watched by someone. He looked around, trying to see if he could find whomever it was. Unfortunately, he did not have the ability to see in the dark and if the perpetrator was in the shadows there was no way for him to find them.
As he continued to look around, going closer to one of the edges of the building, he could see a puddle that was sitting on top of the air conditioning. Something about it was off. It didn’t appear to be reflecting properly. And as he moved towards it, the feeling of being watched grew, almost to the point where he was afraid to look into it and see eyes or a giant eye staring back at him.
He decided he needed to be brave for the moment and looked inside of the puddle, finding old, decayed buildings and plants, wondering just what he was looking at. And then he blinked, and it was gone.
It creeped him out to say the least. Whatever had been in there, whether it was something he just thought he saw or really a glimpse into another word, there was no evidence lingering. Other than the feeling of being started at still, which was worse. He would take being in a creepy place over being creeped on. He decided that he had been out here long enough and that New would start to worry about him. He called his wraith back to the mirror piece and decided that it had gotten enough energy, for now. All he wanted to do was get out of here.
