Eliot wandered around the festival again, wishing he could buy any number of the cool items displayed at all the booths. All manner of star-themed items, clothing, trinkets, whimsical toys.. All of it just seemed so fun and it made him wish he could participate more fully in the fest—everyone around him, it seemed, had at least two star-themed things on their person.
He sigh deeply as he passed another booth, this one displaying a star-shaped cowboy-esque belt buckle. It, for some reason, called out to him. At least it's also something practical, he mused, thinking it over. Practical, looked nice, and if he were hones with himself, the idea of a cowboy belt buckle kinda spelled gender euphoria to him. He hummed in thought as he dug through his meager savings. ******** it. he was getting it.
The booth lady told him to enjoy the rest of the fest and said something about a new cookie shop, because he "looked like someone who could use a little extra sweetness in their life".
He wasn't really sure how he was supposed to take that, but he thanked her anyway and followed her directions through the streets, keeping his eyes peeled.
Starlight Cookies & Moonlight Milk. There it was. The shopfront was small, but very prettily decorated. He liked that, feeling as though the shop had been a chunk of space itself that had fallen to Earth and come to rest in good ol' Destiny City during the Star Fest. Perhaps on purpose, if his silly little theory about the shop being from space was to be believed.
Entering the shop, he couldn't help but feel almost entirely correct about the space theory. The inside was even more beautiful than the outside, leaving Eliot feeling like he'd actually stepped into outer space. Wait. Could you step "into" outer space? If it was contained like the shop, he supposed. But then, was it even outer space anymore?
Okay, he was taking this way too far. He chuckled at himself and ordered three cookies with some milk in a to-go cup. He went back to his barracks room to try the stuff in relative peace.
He settled on his bed with a content sigh, placing the milk on his nightstand beside the belt buckle he'd bought. Digging in the bag of cookies, he pulled out the first one. Just smelling it, combined with holding it in his hands, ready to eat, made his mouth water.
Not wanting to wait a moment longer, he finally took a bite.
And promptly decided he'd died and gone to heaven.
These cookies were just that good. He sipped t his milk before taking the next bite, groaning in sheer joy as it tasted even better than just a moment ago. Within a few minutes, despite trying to take his time to savor the snack, ti was depressingly all gone. He gazed forlornly at the empty sack and cup for several long moments before gathering the garbage and throwing it all away.
He caught his reflection in the mirror and blinked in shock. His eyes! What the hell? He blinked again. Nope, still spacey. Holy s**t. he stared at himself in wonder for a long while.
Maybe that shop was from space after all.
