Wanted Wisps (11) : Small, wispy orbs are floating through the city. They can be found during the day but are far more visible at night. They seem to bob along a few feet off the ground and sometimes flicker in and out of sight. They are warm to the touch and seem to be somewhat magical in nature. Anyone can gather them in their hands; they do not quite feel solid but cannot slip through fingers or escape any container. If you find one of these, you must return it to the merchant. If you do not roleplay with him, it will be assumed that you returned the piece to him anyway; there is no way to keep these. Please see this post for information on turning in the Wisp and claiming your prize.
"Ignacio! Iggy, Iggy, Iggy! Get up, get up, get up!"
Ignacio groaned aloud, turning over in bed and nearly throwing the manx cat off his body in the process. She let out a little growl at him, but he swatted in her direction in an attempt to ignore her. "Please," he groused, "getting to bed without Arra here is hard enough, le'me 'lone--"
"No!" Unfortunately for Ignacio, Viatrix wouldn't take no for an answer. When he begged for sleep, his apparent guardian cat found reason to crawl up onto his head and start kneeding happily. His yelp did not bother her until she very suddenly found herself set on the bed in front of him, Ignacio coming to a sitting position and simply staring into her soul until she told him what the hell she wanted that she found it worthy to wake him up. "Have you looked outside?"
"Obviously not."
"Ig!" She reached over with her paw and smacked him in the leg. Ignacio groaned. Was better before he had a guardian cat, actually. "That's a hint to get up you lazy bones! There's some weird wispy things outside and they're bobbing everywhere and I don't know what they are and I want to go check them out and I would go check them out but it'd be better to check them out with you -- Oh, you're getting up! Good!" Viatrix bounded after Ignacio as he blearily made his way to the window, pulling aside the eclipse curtains to get a look at what was outside of the house.
"Oh."
"Told you!"
Within no time flat, Viatrix bounded up the bed, and then up the dresser, and then down on the windowsill, and then onto his shoulder, booshing him gently with her head. She wanted to see what was outside! Explore! Play! Maybe figure out what those wisp things were and see if they were a threat by the Negaverse, because if they were a nega threat they had to nega go. Or something. That didn't sound very threatening. Maybe she was listening to Raina too much-- "Let's go!"
Ignacio sighed, digging his pen out of his pocket. Viatrix somehow found a way to applaud when he henshined and groused, quietly, "Let's go, then."
Viatrix bounded off of his shoulder and ran ahead of him, bursting through the house with a speed of a cat on their three AM cat hour, disturbing Luz briefly though the dog opted to leave her alone, and finding herself stymied by a door until Encke came over and gently let her out. She then, naturally, went running again. She wanted to see them!
She dashed straight up to one, looking to it and watching as it simply bobbed in front of her.
Was it made out of energy? Was it some kind of Negaverse collection thing? was it just harmless? She reached out and poked it gently with her paw, finding herself surprised when it felt warm. She naturally liked warm things, of course, so she gathered the wisp closer with her paw and curling her body around it. "Wonder if I can experiment on these..." She ignored the look Encke gave her as he explored another one of the nearby wisps, wriggling her body in delight and letting all parts of her fur be warmed up by the way it felt. She found herself purring her delight; Encke seemed surprised by it, but Viatrix didn't even care. "They seem to be super warm! On their own! If I could get a bunch of these maybe I could make a super lightweight heated blanket! Wouldn't that be great, Encke? We can put some on the beds on your planet!"
She suddenly stopped wriggling around and flipped her body to look at him with eyes that sparkled like stars in the faint light of the night. "Please! Let's collect a whole bunch! How many can you hold?"
"Can you even hold these?"
"Yes, you silly! Look!" She pushed one of them toward Encke with her front paw. That should have answered his question by itself, but in wonder, he found himself reaching out and gently touching the little wisp despite. His hand didn't go through it even though it felt vaguely gaseous, and he let out a quiet hmm of wonder as he played with it in his hands. She was right, he could hold them. But he was wary. They seemed harmless, but he wasn't sure exactly was being planned with them.
Well.
Actually, he might have.
"I think someone's looking for these," he murmured, as he gathered two of the wisps in his hands, coming back to his feet. "Saw that there was a sign up asking for what -- Anser described them as ghost-looking wisp things that look like they came out of a video game. Says she saw it before getting into a fight with someone. Or during getting into a fight with someone. Or afterward. I don't know, she's always..."
Viatrix giggled. "She's always fighting the Negaverse. I'm proud of her! I think that means we should go ahead and take those two, then. Do you think you can get a couple others?"
"My hands are full, Viatrix."
"Fah! You're just not thinking creatively enough. There's clearly a few others on the ground. Maybe we can get them and bring this guy a whole collection of these little orbs. Do you think this is some kind of weird Negaverse op though? I guess we should gather these anyway though if that's the case, maybe we can get in front of it--"
Encke turned toward the house. "If we're going to start collecting orbs, we need to also have some things to put them in, I suppose."
"Yes! Like mason jars. Good thinking."
"I never said--"
Viatrix bounded after him, golden eyes sparkling playfully as she made her way around him and into the house. "I know! But you should use mason jars! If this man doesn't want them maybe they could be like warm little heat lamps! Or maybe we can just use them to make a pretty display outside, wouldn't that be nice? Or--"
Encke sighed quietly as he followed, heading for the kitchen cabinets and hoping Luke and Safira wouldn't be woken up by all her chatter.
He was fairly sure he wasn't getting back to sleep any time soon.
