Quote: Wanted Wisps (11) : Small, wispy orbs are floating through the city. They can be found during the day but are far more visible at night. They seem to bob along a few feet off the ground and sometimes flicker in and out of sight. They are warm to the touch and seem to be somewhat magical in nature. Anyone can gather them in their hands; they do not quite feel solid but cannot slip through fingers or escape any container. If you find one of these, you must return it to the merchant. If you do not roleplay with him, it will be assumed that you returned the piece to hi anyway; there is no way to keep these. Please see this post for information on turning in the Wisp and claiming your prize. Kat was happy. She was here with Marissa, with her Laven...and they were walking around the Star Festival like they had good sense. Like they were friends again. Like...this could be something that they just…did. Maybe often. Maybe they would be able to start doing it often.
Her eyes kept flickering to Marissa’s hands, and she wanted desperately to be able to take one and hold it as they walked. She bet it would feel nice...and she bet that they would...ah.
No. No indigestion thoughts. This wasn’t anything special, this was...just them reconciling. On a nice walk on a lovely night…
Taking in the Star Festival and…
Kat paused, frowning slightly as she saw a flickering light from the corner of her eyes. “What…” The word left her lips before she could think of it and she turned to try and see if the light would come again, and when it did...much brighter and larger than any lightning bug she had seen before, she scowled, as was her way.
“...Marisa...what is this?”
Clearly...it must be some American thing that she still hadn’t encountered but…
...who really could say.

Curious of the floating light, Marissa reached out to cup the wispy orb in her more human-like hands. She didn't sense any aura from it and couldn't tell if it was something worth worrying about like the mirages she saw in the puddle after the storm. "I don't know." She admitted. "It kind of reminds me of those will-o-wisp from the movie Brave." The fact she even rememberd that Disney movie was a reason to be amazed. How many years has it been since she watched something on TV let alone gone to a movie theater to watch something new? Too long, it seemed... "It's a Scottish movie that had these little blue lights, sprits of sorts, that acted kind of like guides for the main character." Marissa looked around to see if she could spot any other twinling lights in the distance. "Should we see if we can find any more of them?"

Kat nodded, working to process the words. “Will...you watch it with me? Come to my apartment and eat dinner? We can. We can relax some night if you would like.” She would like, obviously.
Hesitating, Kat moved up quietly onto one of the glowing lights and cupped her hands around it. “...It is not a lightning bug? That was what I thought at first...what do you think they are for?” Idly, she wondered if they might be edible but...that was a stupid thought. Though...the desire to just...see what would happen if she put the wisp into her mouth was…
Hm.
No, it wasn’t a starseed. She was over that. She didn’t need starseeds. No matter how much she might have wanted one. “...Do you think they could become pets? They...would be boring, I bet. Not good for cuddling…”

"Even in the darkest times a little light shines though," Marissa repeated the time old saying as if it was a personal mantra. Perhaps in some capacity those words were what helped get her through her first year as a half youma. "It may not be cuddly, but in your darkest hour there is comfort in knowing you're not alone." The wisp gentle glow cast soft shadows across Marissa face and she in turn gazed down at it with an almost saddened expression alluding to the fact that she herself was in one such place. One moment bled into the next and after drawing in a deep breath she seamlessly put on a more neutral face and smiled. "Even if it can't be kept, you and I can find lights elsewhere. Perhaps we can get together again this weekend; watch the movie together, like you suggested, then go find a park or someplace high up to watch the fireworks. She would have also suggested to invite Wolframite since it was a Holiday. However, with his sensitive hearing and dislike of fire, she didn't think he would enjoy such festivities.

“Oh…” Kat nodded slowly and gave a little smile, feeling her chest beginning to ache slightly once again. “...I would really like that. All of it. Lights and movies and to spend time with you. Fireworks would be nice too, Marisa.” She swallowed and glanced almost shyly at the woman, though...she didn’t look as...majestic in this false skin.
“...I miss your scales. You are very pretty, but I miss your scales. And your horns but…”
Gold eyes flickered to the hands cupped around the creature. “...May I hold your hand? That would be easier like this. The fingers will go together better…” For a moment, Kat blinked and then snapped her mouth shut. “Ah. I. I am sorry. My. Indigestion. This is not a date. I...I apologize.”
They might not even be friends again yet...how dare she want more already. Already again.

"You don't need to apologize." Marissa smiled, then added, "It's fine, really." Although she wasn't as nervous as Kat, Marissa understood more than she let on how apprehensive and nervous this interaction made her. This was, for lack of a better phrase, a second chance for them. Not many people get a do-over and it felt like they were both kind of tripping over their own feet trying not to make the same mistakes. "Here," Marissa cradled the wisp in one hand and held her other out for Kat to take. Yes it may feel awkward for a while, but hopefully, soon the two of them would be able to act more normally around each other again. The way things had ended didn't sit well with her; normally Marissa would forgive and forget just to move on with her life but too many weeks were spent dwelling on the argument. Wolframite had survived and he had forgiven Tinaksite for what had happened. It was time for Lavendulan to follow suit. "I've missed you Kat."

For a long moment, Kat simply stared at the hand that was held out to her, but then she smiled brightly, looking as though she had just been given the greatest gift in the world. The wisp was put into her purse, hopefully it wouldn’t suffocate or go out...if that was possible, but...this was far more important.
Carefully she held out her own hand and took Marisa’s, biting her lip as she allowed her fingers to entwine with the other woman’s. The sigh that escaped her was long, drawn out and blissfully happy.
“I missed you too. Very much...I thought I would...be alone again forever...I was...I was very tired. I do not like…” She swallowed and shrugged. “...I do not like losing those who are so important to me...it...hurts. It makes me very sad...I...will do anything not to lose you. You are very important to me…”

"You're important to me too," She was, after all, one of the few people who accepted her despite her outward appearance and their original encounter was one that she often looked back on fondly. Intentions lost in translation led to several good laughs. Marissa gave Kat's hand a gentle squeeze as they continued walking. It was starting to get late, within an hour or two the sun would set and most of the booths and shops would be closed for the night.
