He pulled out the bag to toss onto the top of his desk so he could go back to fishing around for a pen.
It had been long hours at the hospital lately, so while he usually let Roselite use his office to do paperwork for apparently other Generals, it was still his office.
He certainly hoped this wasn’t some kind of gift for Roselite. Not that he didn’t want Roselite to be appreciated, but it wasn’t as though he went out of his way to get ihm gifts.
Did he need to get Roselite gifts? Was that a thing?

The door burst open and nearly crashed against the wall.
Roselite stood in the doorway, visibly angry, but with wide eyes still, like he was afraid of the fact that he was angry. His nostrils flared with each breath, face a bit flushed after running all the way from the computer lab.
“Sir!” he began, respectful as always, almost aggressively so. He clung to his anger before it could desert him, reminding himself that he came here with a purpose.
He was irate. He was disappointed.
And Bloodstone was the cause.
Roselite took another deep breath and shouted, “You took Yuuri’s starseed!”
If he were any less mature, he might have stomped his foot.

An eyebrow raised as the door burst open, and Bloodstone set the pen he’d finally found down on the top of his desk. The sudden entrance didn’t startle him. He was used to chaos be it powered or in a hospital setting, so this wasn’t anything different than normal.
“Who?” he asked, but whether he knew who Roselite was talking about or not, it wasn’t clear.
“Did you leave these?” he asked, an almost purposeful change of subject, but Roselite was so flighty that it would likely take the bait. “You know I’m not a fan of candy,” he said, but still reached over to take one of the star candy pieces from the bag so he could put one in his mouth.
“Did you finish those reports I left for you? Or were you busy working on reports for someone else?”

“You know who Yuuri is!” Roselite continued to shout. “He’s my friend!”
The bag of star candy was noticeably out of place, but Roselite would not allow himself to become distracted. He knew that’s what Bloodstone wanted. Under different circumstances, it might have worked, especially regarding subjects Rotelite wanted to be distracted from.
He didn’t want to be distracted from this.
“I brought him to you for help, because he was hurt and he didn’t have anywhere else to go!” Roselite paused to suck in another breath. He would not stammer over this. He would not! “And the first chance you got, you took his starseed! You waited until my back was turned! You sent me out of the room!”
Had it been anyone else, Roselite might not have had this reaction.
Then again, if it’d been anyone else, Roselite never would have known about it.
“I was leaving cookies around for everyone, in your name, because I care about your reputation, but then I ran into Yuuri!” he continued. “Is that why you gave his starseed back? Because you realized he was a Corrupt Senshi? If he was just a normal person, would you’ve kept it?”

Maybe the candies were spiked with something, because even though Roselite was yelling at him he looked… like he was from some kind of animated movie. Bloodstone blinked a couple of times, trying to clear his eyes of the strange sensation. He didn’t think it was any actual drug, but likely some kind of magical hallucination. Maybe.
Still, it was difficult to take Roselite seriously as it was, but much less like this. With his giant eyes and squat, two dimensional body.
“Oh, right, the dark haired kid,” he seemed to recall. Although he’d only seen the kid once, so it wouldn’t have been his fault if he didn’t remember.
“Is that what he told you? That I took his starseed? Where is he now? I would like to apologize for the confusion.” Or at least find out who he was as a Corrupt Senshi and make sure the mistake of letting him blab did not happen again.
“I realized I was wrong and put his starseed back. I didn’t want to hurt you or your friend. The temptation was… very strong. But I eventually resisted,” Bloodstone tried to explain himself, whether or not that was the truth. Roselite didn’t have to know the truth as long as he was placated. “Chaos can be quite convincing. You’re just a Lieutenant, but you’ll be apologizing to me when you start feeling the urge to pull starseeds, too.”

“That’s bullshit,” Roselite said, emphasizing the swear so he wouldn’t stumble over it, like he wasn’t used to swearing and felt a bit exhilarated doing so now.
This time, he did stomp his foot. Just a little, enough that his body visibly jostled. It was little more than a scuff of his boot against the floor, but it got the point across.
He was not going to fall for Bloodstone’s lies. Not about this.
“You didn’t do it because you couldn’t resist the urge!” Roselite argued. “You did it because you wanted to, because he was an easy target! I might be naive, but I’m not an idiot!”
However his anger might make things seem, the worst part of it was not that Bloodstone had done it, or even that he’d sent Roselite out of the room specifically so he could. No, the worst part was that Roselite was the one who brought Yuuri to him. If Bloodstone hadn’t put the starseed back, it would have been Roselite’s fault that Yuuri died.
And then he wouldn’t have a friend at all. Just August, who was more his boss than his friend.
“Sir!” Roselite said again, struggling to maintain the furious look on his face instead of dissolving into tears. “I’m mad at you!”
With that, Roselite turned and stormed out of the office, slamming the door behind him.
He was back five seconds later, poking his head in to add, “Don’t do that again!”
Then he slammed the door a second time and did not return.

Other than the fact that it was already comical that Roselite was yelling at him, in his high pitched, petrified, squeaky voice that was two seconds away from tears, but he looked like something out of a cartoon.
Bloodstone didn’t bother trying to convince him beyond what he’d already said, and watched the door as it slammed, opened, and then slammed again.
If he didn’t have such a s**t personality, he might have laughed.
Instead, he picked up the bag of candies so he could pocket them. Celeste would probably get a kick out of them, if no one else.
