Starlight Cookies and Moonlight Milk (4) : A new shop has opened up, just in time for the Star Festival! It doesn’t have anything on the menu except for Starlight Cookies and Moonlight Milk, but they are the talk of the town! Everyone who’s anyone has tried them, and without a doubt, they’re the most delicious things that they’ve ever tasted! Though...the reviews don’t mention that after you've had any, your eyes begin to glow strangely and sparkle like little galaxies are swirling within them. It’s beautiful, if a little strange! The effect fades after an hour, and your vision isn’t impacted...though, if you go to try the cookies again, the shop seems to have disappeared…

Tyrannosaurus was not the biggest sweet tooth around, but she absolutely could not resist a fun new shop at the time of the Star Festival. This was her first year participating in and experiencing the festival for what it was, so she was determined to soak in as much of it as she could. Was this little bakery that only seemed to sell one kind of cookie and some milk actually part of the festival itself?

She thought so, or at least the tie was strong enough to justify stopping in to pick up a few to snack on while she was on patrol.

It was not as late as when she went out to the tree to put her wish in, but she had learned that there was always someone around regardless of the time. She imagined that the Negaverse probably liked to patrol late, after everyone else had given up for the night to get a bit of sleep. She could use the cookies to keep herself going through the night, though she had not had any just yet. She had to save them, until she got really sleepy.

If she were honest, she had hit 'really sleepy' a couple hours ago. These late nights were hard to adjust to.

Regardless, she moved through the park with her senses as high as she could. She knew she was bad at sensing others, and paying attention to things around her, but tonight she was putting in the effort to make sure she sensed any auras approaching her.

Was that one now?

It was.

Encke was naturally suspicious of any new shop these days, and considering Destiny City's history and present, he was fairly sure he had good reason to be. Even if it wasn't the case, he was usually convinced that any new establishment was just another operation from the Negaverse, and it kept him at a distance from new things even when they were absolutely harmless. He'd let a thousand other people try the newest place out before he even considered stepping foot inside. But the shop of Starlight Cookies and Moonlight Milk seemed relatively harmless, at least. It was just cookies. And milk. A friend had gone and hadn't turned up dead or with their starseed missing--

It was enough to convince him, hesitantly, to buy one of the cookies. He hadn't eaten it yet, but he did carry it with him as he patrolled, pondering if he should eat it. Would he fall asleep as it took his energy? Would he simply not wake up if he ate it?

Would the Negaverse know where he was if he did?

The sensation of a much smaller aura was enough to distract him from his thoughts, and at this time of night, Encke decided it was probably in his best interest to check out who that was. He approached the aura cautiously, waving a glowing hand once he was close enough. "Ahoy there!"

Tyrannosaurus immediately perked up at the voice that called to her, despite not recognizing it. It was definitely White Moon, at least according to the aura, and that meant they were probably on the same side. As far as she knew, anyway, as she had not encountered any double agents just yet.

Though, with her knowledge of JRPGs, the inevitable betrayal was not outside of her realm of imagination.

"Aloha!"

She grinned broadly, looking at the stranger in wonder. There was a lot about him she did not immediately understand, but she was sure a flurry of questions would sort that out soon enough. For now, she spotted the familiar box of cookies in his hand and laughed, holding up and pointing to the one she was holding.

"Hey, we went to the same place! You wanna take a cookie break? I was just about to anyway!"

The way she looked at him made Encke make the almost immediate assumption that this was another newbie who didn't know anything about transcendent senshi. He wasn't terribly surprised; there were more of them around than there had been when he became one, but they still weren't necessarily common knowledge. How new was she" Had she even met an Eternal senshi yet?

He supposed a cookie break was as good of an excuse as any to catch someone up. Taking a sweet break might put someone in a good enough mood to deal with some of the more grim realities of their lives, anyway. Did he really want to eat one of these cookies, though? Was there any guarantee that they weren't some magical energy-draining cookies? Sure, his friend had been fine, but that didn't mean Encke hadn't just missed something. And perhaps a few of the cookies had been fine to lull the rest of everyone else into a false sense of security.

Maybe he was just being ridiculous. To be honest, he'd rather be ridiculous than risk the deaths of either himself or this new senshi in front of him. And if she was going to eat them anyway, perhaps if he was there, if there were any negative or Negaverse-related side effects, he could also head them off.

He was being ridiculous. Calm down, Encke. Nothing to fear from a few cookies from a mysterious new shop that had opened up out of nowhere--

"Sure! Could always use some nutrition on patrol." And he didn't feel any Negaverse agents or youma nearby. Hopefully, these cookies weren't some kind of signal--

He wished his paranoia didn't follow him so closely, but he couldn't quite let it go. He would, however, cautiously take a cookie, optimistic that these would be fine.

Or, well, trying to be optimistic, anyway--
