Hobbies:
Bushcrafting - While Brielle has found that she actually loves her modern conveniences, she also enjoys knowing that she could live without them if it came to that. It’s also just nice to get away from the stress of the city sometimes and think about bows and knives and fires and the best way to build shelters out of sticks in the woods. Brielle still hunts occasionally, mostly to provide herself with food when she’s off on these expeditions and the season is right, but she’s also interested in just about any other survival or outdoors type of activity. She’ll camp. She’ll hike. She’ll forage, or cook things over a fire. She generally prefers sticking with very basic supplies rather than glamping or getting too caught up on the technical side of things, but she’ll defer to someone else’s preferences on that if she can convince them to come on an expedition with her.
Animals - Brielle loves animals. She pampers them and croons over them and pets them until their owners politely shove her away. When alone with them, it's not uncommon for her to talk to them, often as if they can really understand her. Her interest in cats has carried over from her time in the Negaverse, as she was able to afford their food even back when she was struggling financially. She doesn’t have so much free time these days that she can spend lots of time volunteering in shelters, but she does have a few traps that she monitors for a local trap-neuter-release program. Now that she’s a bit more stable, she’s been looking into dogs. She really wants a buddy that she can take camping with her. She hasn’t taken the plunge on getting one quite yet, but she spends enough time researching breeds and stalking Petfinder and breeders’ websites that it could practically be a hobby of its own.
Theater Fandom- It didn’t take too long for Brielle to fall back in love with theater once she put the effort in. She works in the field again, but she also spends a lot of her free time as a patron of the art in all of the ways that she can. She attends shows frequently, both in Destiny City and beyond. She reads whenever she has a quiet moment to herself, and she usually reads plays. She’ll read anything from the classics to forgotten gems to contemporary work from the people she works with, all with the same kind of enthusiasm. Her new social media accounts are fairly theater focused, and mostly revolve around chatting with others about Shakespeare, up-and-coming actors, or things of that sort.
Virtues:
Friendly - Despite everything, Brielle has never lost her manners. She has a firm grasp of basic social skills. There’s always a warm smile on her face. She never interrupts people. She has learned that there is a time to talk and a time when the best course of action is simply to listen. She says things like “Please” and “Thank you,” and she seems to mean them. Once, these manners are something of a farce, but lately Brielle has learned that she wants friends. She likes being around other people. This has given a bit of extra warmth to her demeanor. She’ll be the one to reach out to a stranger and start up a conversation. She’ll put in the effort to try to get to know somebody. She’s more than willing to put in the work if it means that she can form meaningful relationships.
Committed - Brielle fully commits everything she does. Another thing that she’s held onto is her work ethic. At her job, she takes initiative and always follows through with what she promises. In her relationships, she’s fiercely loyal and does all that she can to be there for the other person. In life, she’s simply committed to living fully and making the world as good of a place as she can, and this comes out in her actions, both big and small.
Resilient - There are massive holes in Brielle’s memory. There’s blood on her hands. She’s seen so much and been through so much just in the short time that she does remember, and yet she wakes up every morning and does her best to try again in the new day. Because of this, it takes a lot to shake her. Minor inconveniences will usually not phase her at all, and even larger things usually have to either build up or be truly terrible in order to get to her. Recent efforts to take care of herself and her mental health have helped even more with her resiliency and mental stability. Even in the event that something does get her to break down, she will do her best to pick the pieces back up afterwards and keep on going.
Flaws:
Self-Doubting - Brielle knows the terrible things that she’s capable of. She’s distinctly aware that she can make small mistakes that have disastrous consequences. These things haunt her. As a result, she has a difficult time trusting herself, or her own judgement. Making decisions on her own gives her terrible anxiety, and she has a tendency to ask for advice from others, even on the littlest things. She doesn’t love being alone, in general, partially because of that fear that she’s going to slip up again and do something wrong. Brielle is aware that this is a problem, and she’s working on finding some independence, but if she doesn’t have someone to back her up or confirm her decisions, she can get nervous and even freeze up at times.
Careless - Brielle isn’t quite as reckless with her personal safety these days, but that tendency not to think things through comes out in other ways. After everything that’s happened, Brielle is distinctly aware that nothing is permanent. There’s no guarantee that she’ll see the sun rise on any given day, so she has a tendency not to think about what’s coming next at all. For example, a bank account won’t do her any good if her life ends up ripped out from under her feet again, so Brielle is very quick to spend money. She also doesn’t really have any plans for the long term, as any amount of time longer than a few months is difficult for her to wrap her head around. This can make her seem very careless, especially to people who aren’t aware of her situation.
Clingy - While Brielle can function alone with a bit of effort, she’d really, really prefer not to. She wants to have friends. She cares about people, and she wants them to care about her, too, and to spend as much time with her as possible. She texts frequently, perhaps to the point of annoyance. As with everything else, she wants people to be around now, as there’s no way to know if there will be a later. She’s always asking to go out for coffee, or on patrol, and while she can take no for an answer, she has a difficult time not taking it personally and spiraling into a round of self-doubt again.
