The first night is usually a little slow, and it picks up more on the second and third evening, but tonight is different. Within the first hour of the first visible falling meteor, something hits the ground with enough force that the ground trembles and power is lost for a few seconds. The impact can be heard throughout the city and the news reports that a small meteor made impact--only, they don’t report that they can’t find any damage and have no idea where it landed. Maybe that’s enough to convince some people, but anyone who knows about this powered war might expect that nothing good ever comes from space.

Ciel had of course seen the news about the meteor, she was a little surprised she thought that the meteor shower was not supposed to start for few days. As she was thinking about this she received a letter from Caer, I really need to get her the upgrade for direct communication, Ciel thought as she opened the letter and read it.
Reaching out Ciel called the powers of Hyperborea to herself as she transformed in the the Transcended knight of the Cosmos. She held her war horn calling Cerynitis to her side. Hoping on the white deer with golden antlers, Hyperborea urged her onward. The mystical deer leapt from Ciel's balcony taking off into the night
The deer ran like the wind crossing the city in no time at all. As Hyperborea arrived at the park she used her aura senses to find where Caer Sidi was waiting. The deer made its way to the Cosmos page. "Salut Caer!" Hyperborea called out as she gracefully slipped from Cerynitis' back. With a bright smile Hyperborea said "So lets go have a look at this fallen star."

"Hello, Hype," Caer said, and she cracked a small smile. Just being in the more experienced Knight's presence made her feel better, and like her burdens were slightly easier to carry. Hyperborea certainly didn't seem afraid of or unnerved by any of this, and that meant that Caer wasn't, either.
Or, at least, she was much less so.
"It must have landed near here--I felt it hit, so surely?" She huffed, quietly. "But I'm not really sure which direction it came from."

The transcended offered a warm smile to the girl. "Lets just take it slow we can search the area thoroughly I assume it's not gonna grow legs and run away. Although I suppose if it does it should be easier to find at least." She giggled to herself at the thought of a meteorite with a pair of human legs running around. She motioned for Caer to lead the way.
"So you got you're signet ring huh? I guess that means you visited your wonder at last. You have to tell me all about it!" Hyperborea said enthusiastically. She was trying to make small talk as they searched for the meteorite. However as she glanced down to get a look at the ring something else stopped any simple conversations and made Hyperborea's blood freeze.
It was a symbol on the back of her hand, a kind of Celtic knot but shaped like a star. Hypeborea had seen a marking like this a long time ago, in fact though one had to look closely she her self had a marking like this in her right eye. It was an oath mark, a promise made before the Code.
"Caer, please tell that mark isn't what I think it is! Tell me you didn't take an oath!" The girl was still new still too inexperience, she couldn't have taken the oath. How could the Code take an oath from her, did she even understand what she had done. Hyperborea had never told her about the oath so she wasn't sure how the girl had preformed one. "What did you promise?"

Caer laughed at Hyperborea's joke--the idea of the meteor growing legs! Maybe it wasn't truly ridiculous, but it sure would look silly.
"I did! I got to see my Wonder, it was....amazing, a tower in the center of a fortress." She sounded incredibly proud of herself, because she was. She'd gone to her Wonder, and found something deeply important, and that mattered, and it made her a better Knight.
Hyperborea's distress, though, stopped her in her tracks, and she blinked, turning to face her, holding up her hand.
"It...I mean...yes, I did? I guess? I don't really understand what it means, I admit." She wilted, uncomfortably. "I was fighting this Negaverse officer, and I was so angry!, and I told her--I swore I wouldn't let any harm come to an innocent person while I could protect them, and that I would stand for and protect people weaker than I am?"

Hyperborea took the girl's hand running her thumb over the mark. "Caer, you made an oath to the Code. When you told that officer that, you weren't just speaking to her you were speaking to the Code as well and it took what you said as a binding promise. Look into my right eye, closely." She said knowing the three star infinity mark that was forever emblazoned there.
"If you ever break that promise the Code will exact a toll from you. It could be anything, your powers your life! It's called a knight's oath, I didn't think you'd ever need to know about it. I wasn't even aware it could happen without the intent for it." She admitted. "Merci, I don't mean to make it sound so dire, I'm just scared for you. But it can be a wonderful thing as well. It's a pledge to yourself, to the code, and to everyone who sees that mark. And your pledge is beautiful if I may say so."
"Your wonder sounds lovely, I'd love to visit someday." She said letting the hand go gently.

Caer's eyes widened. Obviously, Hyperborea thought this was very serious, and she hadn't even thought about it too deeply since it happened. Perhaps she should have gone back to her Wonder, or contacted Hyperborea more immediately; it had been foolish to keep soldiering on without all the details.
"I swore on my power as the Knight of Caer Sidi," she explained, "so I guess if I fail, or screw up, or let someone get hurt, then...I might lose my powers as a Knight?" Her shoulders dropped, and she bit the inside of her cheek. "I...."
But...it seemed that Hyperborea didn't think it was at all hopeless, or at least she felt that Caer Sidi hadn't made too much of a mistake. "I just...she kept talking aobut how this poor man that she'd drained might have deserved it somehow, and how could you ever say that about some poor person who just wandered into the wrong place at the wrong time--" she huffed. "Like I said, I was just so angry, and it came out, and I want to be the kind of person who can live up to that oath."
She broke into an easier, more genuine smile then.
"I'll take you to my Wonder sometime, though. It's beautiful." She looked around them, and sighed. "I don't think we're going to be able to find this meteor. Maybe it burned up on impact."

Hyperboria pulled Caer in for a quick hug. "Maybe she's chaos poisoned, maybe she's just broken from some past trauma, or maybe she's just a b***h." Hyperborea said with a slight giggle. "But I think it says alot about your character that you stood up to her, whatever her reasons she was wrong and you were right. As scary as an oath can be I think you'll be able to keep yours." Hyperborea said.
She nodded in agreement with the other knight's suggestion. "Come on I'll give you a lift back home." She offered calling Cerynitis to her side once more.
