Quote: It was already late in the evening but the merchant seemed unfazed by the passing of time. He sat, poised and elegant, watching the world around him. He didn’t seem bored but he sat, fingers laced atop the table; below it, he kept his toe tapping to some silent tune in his head. He was tall, by human standards, though while sitting down he didn’t seem particularly threatening. If you didn’t look at his face. He had graceful features--sharp and refined. His chin and nose tapered to a point, giving him an air of sophistication, but that, combined with his slitted eyes and pointed teeth, there was something undeniably predatory about him. He watched with a hungry gaze and a mischievous, nearly sinister smile. His ears were pointed and were prominent despite being tucked behind his vibrant, multi-colored hair. The most intrusive feature that indicated there was something not human about him were the curling horns protruding from his temples and the oil-slick black scales that brushed his cheeks and forehead. He was well dressed, in a fashion obviously otherworldly, and seemed to enjoy dressing himself up in glistening gemstones. His tables were somehow both simple and overwhelming; each table was draped with a dark purple table clothe, all with extravagant embroidery in different designs. Scattered neatly atop the tables were an array of items that seemed to carry some magical weight to them. He did not seem intimidated in the slightest and, upon noticing that the barrier surrounding him rippled to allow his visitor to pass, he smiled. He did not rise to meet them nor adjust his position in the slightest. He followed them with his fierce eyes and greeted, in a silky voice, “Welcome.” She wanted to eat it but she promised to return the wisp to wherever it belonged, so Miss Kitty was keeping her word, even if she felt all kinds of cranky about it. Despite being from an advanced alien civilization that was at least a 3 on the Kardashev scale, Miss Kitty wasn't the sort to come off as a talking alien in cat form. No, in cat form she accepted being a shameless attention hog who lived with real cats that she'd had to teach not to mess with her, and so Miss Kitty was rather on the calm side only if she was being watched. She almost assumed she wasn't when she looked around, shaking her head before her hat fell off and the wisp hidden within shot onto a table, a table the Mauvian jumped on and pounced the wisp on seconds before realizing the table was manned. Because the owner welcomed her., Miss Kitty promptly puffed in surprise, debating on saying anything before deciding he must know something, or wearing a tiny hat gave her away. "...Hello." The Mauvian greeted, one paw pinning the wisp carefully. "Who're you?" Her tail flicked a moment, caution in her features as she watched, dignity attempting to restore itself.

The man watched, as if amused by the antics of this tiny little creature. He knew a Mauvian when he saw one--how could he not? The star on her head was a dead giveaway. “Just a humble business entrepreneur,” he assured. “Are you having fun on my table?” he asked, smoothing out the tablecloth and moving a few things to give her a bit more room. His eyes were on the wisp, and he was trying so hard not to be obvious about the way he kept looking from it to her, and then back to it, like he thought it might try to flutter away. “I can get you a cushion if that would make you more comfortable. I assume you saw the sign out front, that I’m looking for,” he pointed to her wisp, “ those. Have you come to trade?”

His glances weren't missed, but as he was trying to be discreet, Miss Kitty allowed it. She wanted to be polite -- she didn't normally meet anyone whom was actively, well, alien like the other Mauvians, and so she smiled and bowed her head. "Ah, I was trying to keep hold of it. It was floating around last night and, well, I live with Earth cats, so..." She looked properly embarressed -- the others rubbed off on her, but then, she'd had to teach each of the other cats whom was the top dog... Cat. Top cat. And that was her, followed by the former top cat, then her litter, and the cat Miss Kitty raised hgerself. Luckily or unluckily, her guise as house cat was ended when she looked human, and now the Mauvian was, on the positive, regarded as family -- and negatively? Alex was trying to take her to get clothing for the civilian form. At least they tried. And then he offered a cushion and she lit up. "Oh! I'd like that, if it's not too much trouble, please." She responded, most gratefully. He shared a braincell with Ally! Which elevated him in her mind -- Afon Wysg, while not her senshi, was her favorite person, the best friend she'd had until awakening, and even now she'd abandon Elpis for Afon in a heartbeat. Finally, he offered trade, and that he was looking for the wisps in a way to indicate he owned it, and part of her was disappointed she couldn't eat it again, where on the other hand, the sound of the sound of canned air rang warningly in the back of her mind -- she was no pet but by the stars, the instrument was of the Devil and she hated oy. No, no, best be good, then maybe she could ask Alex for somryjinh nice for dinner, like chicken and potatoes or something. "I'm not against trading," Miss Kitty agreed, before moveding to bat the wisp the merchant's way carefully. There was to be no escaping! "It's really kind of nice to do business without magic involvement. ...Well, I should clarify: magic that involved blending in with humans." She STILL wasn't sure how she felt about that.

“Of course,” he answered simply, without giving any indication that this transaction wasn’t actually devoid of magical involvement. He received the wisp easily, scooped in his hands, and then reached for what looked like an extremely ornate candy dish, complete with stem and lid. The crystal bowl was cut with many facets that all perfectly seemed to capture and accentuate the light inside. Atop of the clear crystal, an ornate silver lid encrusted with what looked to be a giant diamond in the center. It had a large silver stem and a beautiful, sturdy base with a few more gemstones embedded within it. A few wisps danced around inside already, so he opened the lid, deposited her wisp, and then promptly returned the item to hide below his table. With that out of the way, he produced a cushion and smoothed a few things off the table so he could place it there for her to sit. “Make yourself comfortable. I’m grateful you’re willing to return it to me. Now that it’s back home and safe, I suppose we have to negotiate what I’m willing to part with. Tell me, Miss Mauvian, if any of these trinkets catch your eye?” He had so many things just waiting to catch someone’s eye. There was an array of items ready to go to a new home--and it seemed, now that he had his wisp, everything sparkled just a bit more. A black fire opal stone with flakes inside seemed to almost look like there were actual flames embedded in the sparkling colors. A tiger’s eye gem with a slit in it that almost seemed to look like a pupil--that followed her no matter where she went. A watermelon tourmaline necklace that had such pure, unfiltered colors that it was hard not to stare.

"Well I'm happy to help." Miss Kitty smiled, waiting patiently. Was she a little disappointed? Of course, but she wasn't selfish -- and she was getting attention! So it was a fair trade, and she had to admit.. She stared in admiration when the dish emerged, absolutely taken by the dish immediately. It was shiny, and well lit; bright and wonderful, but she didn't move -- it wasn't her shiny, it was his, and she understood shinies were important. At last, when the cushion emerged, she moved to sit. She walked carefully and methodically, evading the many beautiful goods he had on the table as she crossed, and she took a moment to right anything so much as tipped a fraction of an inch in a show of care, and respect. If he was respecting her, she was respecting him. At last, she reached her destination and sat, tail curling about her with ease as she settled and proceeded to look, still smiling. If it so much as flickered, it caught her eye, and when her eyes fell on the gemstones, she lit up. "Oh!" They were lovely and she was immediately studying hem all. The dancing flakes, the following eye -- that seemed handy -- the watermelon tourmaline. Her ears were pricked and her gaze locked, and she inclined her head. "My, but you have such lovely gems. I'm.. Hm. I admit I am torn." They all looked like they were lovely, were entertaining, and, well... Shiny. So very shiny! Even if the tourmaline made her a bit hungry.

“Torn? Oh, no. I don’t wish that for you. Come now, you can pick them up, feel them, find a favorite. And, if you come across more wisps, you can always come back and have another gem. I find them all the time. And I take very good care of them. I can tell you’re a creature of class. I can assure you these are all the highest quality. I wouldn’t have them for display if they weren’t valuable. Not like these Earth baubles they can create in a factory.” He seemed amused at the concept, but repulsed all the same. “No, these were created all naturally, by the powers of nature. You can take one and know you’re leaving with a quality item.”

"Aah, you are char,omg!" Miss Kitty beamed, bowing her head respectfully. Yes, she liked him, he was a smart one. At his mention of factories, her head tilted thoughtfully. Ally didn't really deal with precious stones in her eternal persuit opf 'robots' but that didn't mean the girl was ignorant, entirely. It meant simply she did not look into them, so the Mauvian's concepot of human production was diufferent. But she did listen to Ally's videos online. "Honestly, the poor humans discovered mass manufacturing, and now finding a quality handmade product is trickier, but there's ample offerings if you know where to look." Likew whatever EWtysy was. Her knowledge ended with the URL, and her paws could NOT type. Tje Mauvian rose, stretching in habit before approaching the gems slowly and thoughtfully, carefully adjusting each to examine it before placing it back as found, a habit she practiced at home. She was mindful of light and if one seemed to shine just a bit more a hair off, she left it so the Merchant might have the opportunity to ahow off -- he should, too, in her mind. Finally, she was staring at the tiger's eye and watermelon Tourmaline deepo in thought. Hmmm. She could get Ally to have them mounted, if she didn't convince her precious knight to do it herself by wrapping it, and then she realized that meant making sure it looked nice with her. The ample white? Was fine. But with a motion her hat came off, bell tinkling as she shook it off, and then she began to compare. "Hmmm hmmm hmmm. Ahh -- mind me not! I just want to do some color checking. I admit not being the best with it but..." She wasn't one to rush.

He smiled, because he knew he was charming. “Take your time,” he said, foot still tapping leisurely as he watched and waited. “Tell me what’s on your mind what are you looking for? Maybe I can help,” he encouraged, but still managed to have the slickness of a businessman. He really didn’t seem like he was in any sort of rush, and the company was nice given that the alternative was him sitting there, alone, waiting. Besides; it wasn't often he got to find someone who could properly appreciate his wares, and if he was going to part with them, he cared--at least a little bit--that they were going to a good home. Especially if he was getting a good deal out of it.

"I must confess to enjoying xutious, ptryyu yjings." Miss Kitty acknowledged gracefully. She was studying the gems with interest, a paw raising to her chin in deep thought. She almost appeared to be grooming, but with her face watched properly, the Mauvian was visibly contemplative, before seeming to close her eyes. Her only motion then was the tip of her tail, twitching in thought, moving energetically before she nodded. "I think... I might like this Tiger's Eye." She lightly placed the paw once raised in thought on the edge of the stone carefully, smiling at the merchant merrily. "It's fascinating!"

The man smiled and seemed pleased with this decision. “Excellent choice, my dear. A beautiful piece that belongs in safer hands. And you seem like someone who can appreciate it. Perhaps it will bring you luck. Or, at least, make for a pretty trinket. And, if you find more wisps, I can hold onto that other one for you, if you find your heart longing for it. The thing about such gems is that they’re gorgeous, but when you have a bag full of them, it becomes quite tedious to lug around. And, setting up? Oh, I’ll never have enough table space. But,” he smiled, sharp teeth on display, “It was worth it to bring them out if it brings you such joy, I think. A good exchange, thank you.”

Miss Kitty nodded her hat off again, picvking up and plancing her new prize withing before pushing her head into it and smiling, righting her head as the stone moved safely inside the cap to rest on her head, and the Mauvian smiled. "But I'm happy to have made such a trade!" She admitted. "Sometimes simple treasures are the most beautiful. And you might find some Earthlings enjoy pretty stones. It is a niche market, but it is there." She approached, reaching with one paw before offering a strange little hug, claws velveted and secure so as to not harm the SMART man she was enjoying the company of, and she managed to barely contain the purring in her chest. "It is just splendid to meet you, my new friend. I mean it."

He raised a brow and seemed delightfully amused, and with her physical affection he reached out to stroke her back lightly. “Oh, I’d forgotten the warm welcome of Mauvians. Best of both worlds, charm and affection. And absolutely adorable, if you don’t mind me saying so. Such a fan.” He gently combed her fur, and his sharp nails made for excellent scratches. “The pleasure’s all mine, my dear. You must give me your name, I’d like to remember it. And if I don’t see you again this visit, I should like to seek you out when I’m next in town, my new friend. Perhaps we’ll trade again. I’ll have to look for more pretty stones for you.”

Oooooooh, he was wooonderful. Not as wonderful as her knight -- and she still lamented not being able to bond to her Ally -- but he was wonderful for non-family, and she leaned and arched into the scratches contentedly, failing to repress the fauntest of purrs as she smiled large, before turning to answer him properly, bowing in an odd little bow that attempted to look more human so as to not be mistaken for a play bow. "Miss Kitty. It's... I was given a name on Earth by someone dear whom used to not know and I like seeing her smile when I use it." She introduced herself gently while also explaining her name a bit awkwardly. Most Mauvians weren't named "Miss Kitty" or anything relating to cats, but she was and she was... Well, her family on Earth made her happy -- why deny them what made everyone happy?

“Oh, with a name as adorable to match that cute little face of yours,” he practically cooed. “ Well, Miss Kitty. My name is Almadel, and it has been a pleasure doing business with you. You come back and visit me again if you find anything else interesting. Wisps, or otherwise. I am typically in the market for all good exchanges, it’s just that those wisps take priority these days,” he sighed, perhaps a bit dramatically. He gave her a few more leisurely scratches, seeming to enjoy it as much as she did. “One day I’d like to come do business here and see what artifacts you’ve all found on your own.”

"Why, thank you, Almadel! You're veryu sweet." She smiled, very much leaning and enjoying the scratcvhes and attention. He was good company, and the Mauvian was content enough to close her eyes, sighing contentedly before opening her eyes, smiling again. "Well, if you can draw safe attention, I'm sure several folk would enjoy taking you to see their homeworlds, and wonders both. It's old but fascinating." Miss Kitty knew Elpis alone had many undiscovered treasures, but5 it wasn't her place to offer him a trip. But advice on getting places? Now that was useful!
