Summer Storms (5) : There have been plenty of thunderstorms this summer, and everyone is blaming the weather for the strangeness of their electronics--or, bored kids out of school. It’s not uncommon to get phone calls from impossible numbers--strings of letters and numbers, and a blank caller ID. It’s hard to make out any sounds; it sounds like static, and a broken up voice in a language you can’t make out. There is no way to call the number back; it says the line is disconnected. Sometimes, text messages come through, in foreign symbols. The messages always disappear within a few seconds, and there’s no way to reply. People have even had video chats, but the image is always staticky and it’s impossible to make out any details except for a silhouette, and the same strange, foreign language. The city is hoping to have this issue fixed soon, but in the meantime they are asking for patience.
Normal, and safe, weren't things Destiny city tended to do very well. In fact, the city tended to do both things very poorly. It was a wonder every normal civilian hadn't fled the city long ago, making the war easier to fight for every powered person remaining. It was perhaps due to the war, and and it's brutality, that Alexandre sought out some sort of normalcy and domestic bliss of a sort.
That was why he'd invited Mason over to have lunch and spend time together. He wasn't much for dates, at least not the usual movie theater sort of date, he'd rather some spent in some other manner. Today was lunch at home while discussing if they wanted to do anything else and if so what.
"Much as the beach might be nice it'll also be crowded - I'll also burn. I like the beach but nighttime trips are nicer." He didn't mind going at night and enjoying the cool water on his feet, and calves, as well as the sound of the waves. It was peaceful and a whole lot less people. It felt more private and personal.
Reaching for the flavored water he had, sitting on a new coaster he'd ordered online, and taking a sip he leaned back on the couch and tipped his head back. "The star festival starts today...and I'm not sure what I want to do - do I want to see the star shower this year or not?" Something always seemed to happen in this damnable city and he wasn't sure if he wanted to get involved. Honestly though he didn't have a lot of choice though. This was his city and his war.
