Name: Dorian Groves

Nickname: He will not respond to anything other than Dorian.

Gender/Pronoun: Male • He/Him/His

Age: 31

Birthday: November 7th, 1989

Sign: Scorpio

Gemstone: Beryl

Blood Type: A+

Fav. Food: Anything he doesn’t have to cook himself, which essentially means he orders out all the time. His favorite cuisine is Mediterranean, especially Greek and Italian.

Hated Food: He will try anything, and has yet to find something he’d go so far as to say he hates.

School/Occupation: Dorian grew up attending a bunch of fancy pants international schools in Europe, predominantly in France. For college, he decided at random and picked DCU for shits and giggles, despite the fact that he could have gone literally anywhere else in the world. At some point, he decided Destiny City was the place to be, and he never left.

He could spend the rest of his life living on his family’s wealth if he wanted to, but Dorian makes a modest living writing trashy romance novels under the pseudonym Starling Collins. His books have become relatively popular among middle aged housewives looking for a literary escape from their unsatisfying marriages. Dorian keeps a low profile, so most of his fans assume he’s a woman.

Hobbies:

Writing - Dorian began writing as a teenager, when his childhood as an overachiever almost led him to a complete burnout before he managed to acquire his baccalaureate. What began as a way to pour out his anger and disappointment with himself turned into a means of filling his life with something that offered a sense of accomplishment. He can spend days at a time at his computer, letting his thoughts flow through his fingers, or, when his thoughts stall in the light of the screen, he can do it the old fashioned way, digging out a notebook and a pen to obsessively jot down whatever comes to mind. Writing has become more than a career for him. It is his solace. Or it would be, if he wasn’t constantly on the verge of burnout there, too. Writing is his greatest love, and also the bane of his existence. One day, he would like to publish more than trashy, overdone romances.

Napping - When Dorian isn’t writing, he’s napping. He doesn’t sleep like a normal person. Eight hours straight just doesn’t cut it for him; it’s too much time wasted, too many opportunities lost. So his days are broken up into naps. When he’s too tired to keep himself awake any longer, he’ll lie down on whatever surface seems most appealing (a bench, a couch, a bed, sometimes even the floor) and nap for three to four hours before getting up to continue whatever tasks lie ahead of him (usually writing). Once, he took a nap on a blanket in the park under the stars, and it was glorious. (And unintentional. He would also not recommend keeping anything important on hand when one decides to do this. Alas, Dorian learned that the hard way; he woke up and found all his valuables had been stolen.)

Wine - His lavish upbringing might lead one to assume he’s some sort of connoisseur, or at the very least, a total wine snob. Such assumptions could not be further from the truth. Dorian likes wine, and he drinks a lot of it, but he couldn’t tell you what makes a good wine a good wine. He just likes wine, from the cheapest of boxed wines to the priciest bottle in whatever expensive restaurant he meets his mother at for dinner. Wine will calm his nerves when he needs it, ease his anger when he needs it, and get him good and drunk when he needs it. Wine has never done him wrong. It pairs well with his meals and tastes better than beer, which Dorian turns his nose up at (or he would if he could be bothered to do so; mostly he just frowns and looks a bit constipated).

Virtues:

Attentive - Though he often appears too tired and lazy to care for much more than his next nap, Dorian is an observant individual. He is always watching, and always listening, and always analysing whatever information he picks up in the process. Sometimes he does so in search of inspiration, looking for the next best seller, but he usually also happens to be interested in the goings on around him. He listens when spoken to and speaks with consideration, mindful of his audience. He may not be the most talkative person, but he ensures that those who speak to him know they have his undivided attention while doing so.

Composed - Dorian is a difficult person to rile. By nature, he is not an emotional man. He faces much of the world in a calm, level-headed fashion. In the event that something sparks a reaction, he usually maintains enough control over himself that he can leave and deal with the issue in private. In most situations, he doesn’t allow anger or frustration to get the better of him. Random outbursts never solve anything, and generally cause more problems in the long run. Dorian would know; his teenage years were full of them. Now, he meets the challenges posed by life with an unflappable attitude some might envy. He saves bigger emotions for his novels.

Flaws:

Withdrawn - Some people appreciate Dorian’s poise, but just as many find his composure unsettling. He tends to keep his distance from people, and he isn’t likely to talk about personal issues, which makes him a difficult person to get to know. Despite his careful regard for people, he has been accused of being unfriendly, specifically because he isn’t liable to share things about himself or invite many people into the private corners of his world. Dorian is quiet and guarded and keeps to himself, which gives him an air of cold detachment. People assume he doesn’t care. Sometimes, Dorian doesn’t bother to correct them. Life can be easier that way.

Resentful - Though Dorian hasn’t been prone to outbursts since he was a teenager, that doesn't mean he won’t hold a grudge. He might not be emotional, but he also isn’t emotionless. He has preferences and opinions, and issues he holds close to his heart. If someone happens to work their way onto his bad side, he doesn’t make it easy for them to make amends, and he isn’t likely to admit to his own faults, or apologize if he happens to be in the wrong. Dorian holds onto his bitterness and spite far longer than necessary. He just knows when to keep it to himself, and when to actively express it.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Dorian has dull, heavy-lidded gray eyes that often make him appear tired, even when he isn’t. (But he also is frequently tired, so there’s no way to know when the look in his eyes is caused by fatigue and when it’s just how his eyes are.)

Hair: Dark brown and boasting the subtlest wave, Dorian’s hair has become a bit overgrown, heading toward shaggy without quite earning the description. Most days, he simply can’t be bothered to go for a trim.

Face: A bit on the narrow side, there’s nothing about Dorian’s face that sets him apart from other generically good looking people. In fact, he tends to look a bit plain, but his features are well proportioned enough to be attractive. He will occasionally sport a bit of patchy stubble when he gets deep into writing and forgets to shave.

Skin Tone: Dorian has a medium caucasian skin tone, bordering on fair due to how much time he spends indoors. If he actually went outside and got some sun often enough, he might at least get a light tan.

Body Type: Standing at a respectable 5’11”, Dorian maintains an average build with the occasional light exercise, just enough for some subtle muscle definition but not so much that he has to commit a lot of time to it.

Clothes: Jeans and t-shirts. Hoodies and sweatpants. A mismatch of all. Dorian generally looks lazy and unprofessional, but cleans up nice when he puts in the effort. He goes from a 7 to a 10 when he showers, shaves, and puts on a suit.

Negaverse Alias: Lieutenant Jasper
*Jasper was previously on the locked sphere list, along with Chalcedony, because they are other names for Bloodstone. I reached out to the shop to ask if these two names could be removed from the locked sphere list because they were there based on the old rules that same mineral type/different names weren’t allowed.

Challenge: *sighs deeply*

Uniform: Colors are black and green.

Top -- Start him off a bit boring.
Bottoms -- Pants.
Gloves -- No thank you.
Belt -- Would probably be hidden beneath the jacket.
Shoes -- Dress shoes instead of boots.
Shoulders -- Simple decoration.
Accessories -- N/A.

Weapon
Lieutenant Weapon: A stainless steel straw. Not useful for anything except sipping a beverage, but it can hurt a little if someone is struck with it the right way.
Captain Weapon: A one-handed sword. Short and light enough to be used with a single hand.
General Weapon: A hand-and-a-half sword. Longer and heavier, but can be used with either one or two hands.
