"It's summer time so let me out already." Moaned Aleksi from his seat in the finely arranged classroom of his private academy. The lightning hybrid was tugging at his collar, the heat from the sun burning through his uniform and making it almost impossible to not squirm in his seating. No, no instead he had to have gotten caught for some prank and coerced into helping plan out some summer festival for the school where they enlightened the rest about the other cultures in Tendaji. Did they even care about what the Yaeli gods were or how the wild bug women worshipped some...tree? A sigh left his lips as he looked around the classroom once more, his brilliant violet gaze looking for a familiar face while they waited around and drafted plans for the festivities. What did they even do? Plan some sort of food booth or a play for the rest of the school? Where even was the rest of their classmates who were supposed to be working with them today? He truly wished a bad stumble on whoever thought summer festivals for the academy were a grand idea. Even more so the jerks that thought his mixed heritage surely gave him an advantage since he could share so much about Matori with them all.
"It would be much more exhilarating to go out and run along the streets enjoying fresh summer food instead of being on school grounds eating and discussing religions. Or am I crazy?" He asked Eliazer, his head tilting with curiosity for the other's opinion. At least they could expect a feast later at his home since food was in plenty with the summer crops and trade being in full bloom. Maybe that was a god he needed from the other continent, a god of naps and gluttony. Perhaps wine as well if he could sneak more out of his father's cabinets again.

Eliazer had long since given up any pretense of breeding. During proper academy hours he did his best to keep his appearance as tidy as possible, if only because he knew how much one uniform cost let alone an entire wardrobe. That being said he did his best to suffer through the heat even when his skin bubbled with sweat under the stuffy, woolen fabric. Now that they were being held over, however, Eliazer's patience was at it's end. He'd already taken off his outer coat, rolled his sleeves up to the elbow and loosened his tie enough to unbutton the first few rows of his shirt. If there had been others around then he likely wouldn't have done it at all, but since it was just Aleksi...
{"You just want to chase after the transfer student. The one from Zenner."} She was definitely cute enough and she'd shown enough interest in Aleksi from what he'd seen. Whether or not the boy himself was into her wasn't Eliazer's concern; it wouldn't stop him from teasing. {"What do they even want us to do if no one else bothered to show?"} Wasn't this a group effort? If so, where was the group?

Aleksi pursed his lips in protest towards his friend. "{Maybe and maybe not.} He signed back with a slight shrug. "{Part of me thinks she just wants a free meal while I have to listen to boring talk.}" He teased with a wink before pondering exactly what they should do indeed. The hybrid glanced around as if a teacher would spawn from the walls at any moment before slowly standing up from his desk. A finger raised to his lip playfully, obviously he didn't have to worry about Eliazer making noise but still, and the boy strode towards the doorway so that he could peek outside. Truly it did appear as if everyone else had skipped so what could they do?
"{I think they have some of the booths set up already....maybe we can go and test out how good they are, especially those with snacks?}" Aleksi quickly signed as he look back towards Eliazer with a mischievous grin. Why risk talking out loud when one could be silent for now? It was far less likely to get them caught that way - even if Aleksi did enjoy hearing the sound of his voice from how often he seemed to talk.

Eliazer smirked. {"Could have looked at worse."} Conversation may have been dull, but at the very least she was easy on the eyes. Instead of taking offense to Aleksi's 'stay quiet' gesture he simply rolled his eyes. If it were anyone else he might have felt putt off, but a good ribbing between friends was fine.
{"Did you bring extra coin?"} After all, the festival itself wasn't set to kick up in full swing just yet so it wasn't as if the teens were expected to walk around with sacks full of funds. Not that Eliazer had that, anyway. {"We're going to get caught. You don't blend in."}

Aleski pursed his lips towards Eliazer in protest. "Just because.." He started in a hiss before realizing his mistake and moving his hands instead of his lips. "{I may not fit in but I will find a way to not be seen.}" If anything maybe he could find something...his gaze skimmed over things in the classroom before settling on something left behind by another in their locker. Ah, it seemed that Tilly had something from the theater department again. A smirk crossed his lips as he casually walked across the room and picked up the orange wig, the locks almost a pale gold in the light. A playful eyebrow wiggled at Eliazer before Aleksi plopped on the wig and tightened it down so that the waves would cover even his finned ears along with his teal strands of hair. A quick tie to the back and he suddenly had an orange medium length ponytail.
"{Now about those snacks..."} Even though he did have some spare coin it wasn't as fun unless they were sneaking around. The risk was always worth the reward, right? It was a good time to test out how lucky those Matori gods were that his mother always spoke of. Remember me...Onis? No, On'os, my bad. He prayed with some sincerity before gesturing towards Eliazer with a grin.

Eliazer clucked his tongue with a smirk, raising his fingers to make a pistol motion toward Aleksi. So much for the element of surprise. If anyone was around to hear them then the jig was up, but something told Eliazer they were still in the clear.
The geian rose from his seat and walked over toward his friend with his thumbs looped on his belt loops. There really was no getting around the hybrid once his mind was made up, but Eli really couldn't say he would rather stay. Walking past him Eliazer stuck his head around the open doorway, peering down the intricately decorated hall just to make sure they were clear. When he didn't see anyone coming from either direction he motioned for Aleksi and set out after their prize.

Despite his best efforts a chuckle did escape Alek's lips. At least Eliazer was willing to put up with his ploys today. We just have to avoid being noticed. The hybrid reached up to tug at his new hair once more before darting after Eliazer and down the hallway. The brick building seemed to stretch on forever before they finally emerged down the backstairs that led outside into the area reserved specifically for the schoolyard. While normally physical activities were held outside along the paved walkway looping about the backyard the area was currently under construction of sorts with stalls set about for the summer festival. One of them caught Alek's eyes and he had to nudge Eliazer, the temptation to make commentary almost overwhelming. Someone had opted to focus on the goddess aspect of the foreign countries, the aspect of fertility and women obvious in the design.
{Now that makes me wish we had some gods to respect in Belrea.} He teased quietly as he gestured towards the luscious women. There was only one thing that could make it better and Aleksi had to hope that there were actually treats hidden around it. The sign leaning against the stall hinted at sweets which would be delicious to try as long as no one was around to object. Aleksi peeked around, his violet gaze gleaming as he tried to see if anyone was nearby before he darted forward to investigate.

He could imagine just what kind of deviant had decided to focus on that particular goddess, and Eliazer would have to remember to pay his respects. A statue had been carved by a few of the students in the sculpting class that depicted a decidedly thick woman and the sight was very pleasing indeed. {"I think I'm going to visit Oba."} If all of their gods were this visceral then he couldn't imagine it being anything other than a grand time.
Aleksi may have a grand costume, but Eliazer was still obvious. He was taller than most of the boys in his year, but thankfully that just meant he could blend with the older crowd. If a professor looked too closely at his markings then it would be a dead give away, but so long as he kept his back to most of the staff they should be alright. With that in mind he slipped after Aleksi, eyes lingering on the statue just a little bit longer before going out in search of treats.
All of a sudden a familiar sight caught his attention and he reached out to grab the back of his friends collar with one hand, the other zipping around the other boys head to clamp over his mouth. With the one hand still keeping Aleksi quiet, Eliazer pointed at a figure by the stand; their language professor.

"{I agree. Maybe it's worth seeing my mother's homelands after all.} Quipped Aleksi silently, muted laughter brightening his gaze. Maybe these were in the parchments that his mother kept from Matori and Oba? The few things that she actually took with her when she came to Belrea in the first place....that would indeed explain why she kept them locked up for the most part instead of sharing them with him. He would love to see all of the depictions of the gods now after seeing this one.
As he slipped around the corner the boy caught sight of a tray full of wrapped cookies. Victory was right in reach and his fingertips stretched towards the prize before he was abruptly ripped away. A muffled gasp left his lips, his gaze narrowing in frustration before logic caught up with him and he found himself gazing in the direction that Eliazer pointed. Immediately a sense of dread overwhelmed him and the boy found his body tensing as he slowly backed up into a small shadowed corner by the stall with Eliazer. Even if he didn't have the ability to move his arms the question he wanted to ask was fairly obvious.
What did they do now?!

This sucks. Eliazer had not just left his classroom to stand in a corner all evening. If he'd wanted to feel trapped then he could have just stayed in his seat and waited out his sentence. With Professor Fronc within earshot there really wasn't a way for them to get any closer without being found out and honestly, if they tried to leave he might very well hear them too. The fact that he hadn't caught on yet was a blessing...
Tapping Aleksi's shoulder, Eliazer waited for the hybrid to turn his way before signing. {"How well can you control your magic?"} Motioning to the covering over the fertility stall, Eliazer signed once more, {"If you can start a little fire he'll be distracted and we can get the cookies."} Just a little fire, a spark really; no one would get hurt and nothing would be destroyed. If Aleksi was half as good as he was confident then it shouldn't be hard.

Normally Aleksi was always up for a good distraction. However, hearing the word fire made him chew on his bottom lip thoughtfully. If anything one could even consider him nervous. Just imagine! Alek would have scoffed out loud at the very thought if there wasn't a chance of being overheard by their professor. All he could do now was give a slight nod of his head and pray to his mother's gods that a little spark was all that he would summon instead of an inferno. Maybe he shouldn't have told Eliazer about his newest talents just yet? Aleki almost his eyes at the thought. No, he could do this! Why hide from it? And if anything the very idea of getting caught right here or staying like this for hours was motivation enough.
"{We'll go left.}" He motioned towards the left before focusing his attention on the covering. If the sunlight was warm enough to set it ablaze, if he could just find one spark to get a little flame dancing along those ivory edges...there. Aleksi had almost given up hope until the faint smoke curling from the cover attested to the fact that somehow a flame had managed to leap from his fingers and onto the fabric. Now all they had to do was grab the cookies and run all the way back to the classroom in case things got chaotic. What if someone checked in on them to make certain they had evacuated during the fire drill after all? As shouts started around them, Alek grabbed a bag of cookies and Eliazer before darting away behind their professor and others who had been attracted by the rather healthy flames starting to show.

Why is he hesitating? Eliazer quirked a brow and watched his friend carefully. Normally he was always up for Eli's ideas, or at the very least had some sort of variant for it, but now...something was up. Maybe he should just suggest something else and -
Or not. Something about this didn't exactly settled well with the geian anymore, but it was happening so best to get prepared. Nodding, he waited until the flames had caught before flat out running. He watched their professor carefully, panic fluttering in his chest for just a moment when the man seemed to look over their way, but when it became obvious he was just looking for water Eliazer just kicked into high gear.
Getting away wasn't nearly as easy as he'd originally thought. What few bodies were in the area turned their way in an attempt to get to the fire, but Eliazer used the fact that Aleksi was in front of him to his advantage. He ducked some, doing his best to hide his markings and even went as far as to pinch collar of his shirt closed until they made it back to the classroom seemingly unnoticed.
{"What was that back there?"} Now that he was trying to get his breathing back in order Eliazer jumped on his friend's hesitation. It was such a rare thing that he couldn't help being concerned.

A breath of relief escaped Aleksi's lips as they settled back into the classroom. Everything about the past few minutes had been a blur that set his heart racing in his chest. For once he was thankful that the excitement was over. "Nothing."} He started before placing the bag of cookies on the desk next to Eliazer. Still, something felt wrong about lying to his friend and after a moment he found himself opening the bag and placing a cookie out for Eli and taking another for himself. "{I don't feel confident with...fire."} He finally signed with a bit of a defeated shrug. It wasn't as if he wanted to admit that he was afraid of it but rather he just didn't know how well he could control it. Alek just hoped that the festival was back under control now....the very thought made him give Eliazer almost a sheepish smile before he went towards the window and peered out into the yard below.
There were no flames so that was a good sign then. Just a bunch of smoke and some disgruntled adults who were still trying to calm down students who were dashing about. The very sight brought some amusement to him and he could only shake his head. "Crisis adverted." He commented with a small grin before turning back to Eliazer and hoping that there wasn't a shadow around the corner to track them down. Maybe he should pray to those foreign gods more often considering how fortunate it appeared they were just now? Maybe.

Liar. Eliazer wasn't planning on pressing it further, though. Instead, he reached for the cookie and pinched off a piece of it before tossing it into his mouth. He either wouldn't say anything at all, which meant it was big or he'd cave eventu-
-or now.
{"They're fine. You did well."} The look he gave his friend was clearly guilt ridden. If he hadn't told Alek to do it then his friend wouldn't have been nervous in the first place. He'd just assumed...But that was the problem, wasn't it? He never should have assumed in the first place.
It just...it was so odd to see him not blaze straight through something that Eliazer hadn't given it a second thought.
Trying to lighten the mood, Eliazer shoved the last bit of cookie into his mouth and signed, {"Hopefully we didn't make that goddess angry. She might curse us into having toad wives and stone children."} Clearly just a teenagers ramblings, but still, maybe he should toss up a prayer or something when he got home. It couldn't hurt, right?
