Summer was drawing closer and closer and the different villages around Tendaji were beginning to plan their summer festivals. It was a tradition in Tendaji - to celebrate the Gods every year in the summer when spirits were high and food was at its most abundant.

All the races had their own gods to celebrate, whatever those might have been, and every person had their own feelings one way or the other.

[ What did they mean to you? With the summer fast approaching, it must be somewhere (no matter how small) on everyone’s thoughts. And what are your thoughts on the other culture’s gods? ]

It was time to get on the ship to return home.. but Faenna's curiosity was too strong. She had learned something of the earthling gods from her time in Matori, of course. She could have been content enough with the firsthand knowledge she had gotten.

Yet there she was, slacking on her way to the boat in order to watch the Matori running around in preparation for their summer festival. While she was about to return to honor a goddess, the Matori.. well, she could hardly keep track of which god and goddess did what! It was as though each facet of life had a corresponding god, and the Alkidike found it fascinating. She approached a stall with multiple little carvings depicting each deity, and bent low for a close look. Would Aisha like a carving of herself? Or Azehra?

Kyril was enjoying her visit with family. While she was in Matori she had already played around with all of her siblings and had even met her brother's companion. Her time away from work and just enjoying her home had truly lightened her spirit and the hybrid was in a surprisingly good mood as she browsed some wares. A summer festival was being set up all around her and Kyril had already opted to look into some of the goods being offered, her gaze thoughtful as she looked for presents for her two mentors living back in Oba and Belrea. I will be going back soon so I definitely should bring a few things to Belrea. She mused before turning so that she could look at some carvings set up, her attention distracted by the appearance of an Alkidike. "I suppose the merchant was smart in setting up a shop with so many figures." Kyril found herself commenting towards the teen, a small smile on her lips as she could easily guess which figures the Aishan was interested in.

When a voice spoke up nearby, Faenna looked over with a grin. An Oban! Wait... not just Oban. "You're lovely!" she gasped out, still getting used to the number of hybrids that she was seeing. They had been non-existent during her recent years on the island, after all.

Wait. On topic. "I have Aisha and Azehra, but the Matori have so many deities. How is it not absolute chaos with so many trying to rule over Matori and its people?" She plucked up a figure of Ome Essd, the goddess of life and death. This carving represented her holding a heart in one hand and a skull in the other. "From what I have seen, large numbers trying to run a group ends up with confusion and unrest."

Kyril blinked in surprise, a flush decorating her cheeks at the sudden compliment. Well that was something she most definitely had not been expecting from the teen! "Thank you?" She managed after a moment before listening to the question thoughtfully. "Well it helps that they all have their own places and things to rule." The hybrid glanced at the figure, an amused smile crossing her lips by the Aishan's choice of figurine. "That's Essd, the goddess of life and death while my favorite goddess is actually Ubeli'ae." Kyril reached over so that she could pick up a figurine holding a crescent moon in her hands, miniature shells decorating a fine gown that surely would have revealed everything had the figurine been made of flesh and silk. The base had frothy waves that were lapping at her feet, almost as if she were strolling along the edges of the beach at night."She controls the moon and the ocean itself."

"Still, I feel as if our deities are slightly different from your Aisha and Azehra. They are physically here, right? Do the trees actually speak to you as well? Our deities can be heard by those super spiritual but honestly I've only encountered them through stories growing up." Kyril gave a slight shrug. She wasn't terribly religious but she did appreciate the concept of having heavenly warriors guarding their lands. At least it inspired great art that would last throughout the ages.

"Ooh." Faenna turned back to the numerous figures and nodded. If each on had its own area of expertise, then that would surely help reduce most of the confusion. She pursed her lips while touching the figure in her hands. Life and death... Aisha and Azehra, and the other trees, all took care of everything on their own islands. Now that she saw how many could split up the job, she couldn't help her awe growing for her blessed goddesses. "It's amazing that Aisha tended to all of these for so long on her own for the Alkidike."

Speak? "They don't actually speak to us, no. We have our blessed mystics who are closest to Azehra and the others. There is no speaking, but the mystics receive messages through their feelings. Each tree has a few of them for clarity, I guess."

She set the figure back down to look at the one the earthling had chosen. "Why is she your favorite? I guess you like the ocean?"

"Well technically she's still doing that, correct?" Teased Kyril with a sly grin as she inspected another figurine. "It's just there's more varieties of your kind now...I suppose? Is that the best way to word it?" She didn't know too much since most Aishan were rather secretive about their race, but Kyril had heard rumors about how the Aishans and their children were spreading across these new islands. Either way she didn't mean any insult but she was curious. Didn't each tree handle their own? That much she had picked up on from different conversations.

"Ah, I see. Like how the Yaeli have priests and priestesses." Mused Kyril with a thoughtful nod, "To be fair I haven't really spoken to any Matori or Oban gods myself." She joked before going back to her favorite figurine. "That's fair. I do love the ocean and I find a lot of inspiration under the moonlight. She's just very elegant and someone that I would aspire to be more like should I want to be strong and graceful. Does that make sense? To be inspired by a goddess?"

"Oh, of course she is. She just has-"wait, how much was she actually allowed to tell? How much did the earthlings know? Would they be able to understand? ...Well, her mother was always talking about opening up more to the earthlings! "Aisha has her seed helping now with our new cousins. I believe you would call them races? Same, but different, right?"

Brow rising slightly, Faenna found herself smiling. "Of course it makes sense! I am inspired by the goddess all the time. Aisha's and Azehra's strength inspire me every day. The Aishans all love their mother trees and seek to be as strong and dedicated as they are."

Kyril pursed her lips thoughtfully before slowly nodding. "That seems about right." She mused with a small smile towards the Aishan. "We just don't come from trees but other than that there's some similarities." They all lived and breathed the same air, ate, fought and loved while none of them lived underwater like the new foreigners in their strange islands! Though Kyril supposed they still shared similar habits and thoughts to those who lived underwater...it was just a difference of environment, right? Did they have gods that they believed in as well?

"Oh that's good." Kyril grinned. "It's always nice to have some sort of inspiration to guide you along your path....that is as long as you're not enamored with a god of destruction or death hopefully." It was easy enough to tease but she could only shiver at the thought of someone actually living with such a dark perspective. Maybe that was something those evil Dretch believed in. Who would ever know though considering all they did was harm others? I doubt they'd ever sit still for some story time. Quipped Kyril silently with a shake of her head.

Faenna couldn't help a shudder that ran through her body. The earthlings certainly did not come from trees! Their origins were horrifying by comparison! From the stories she had heard... she was glad that her own future daughters would come from the goddess rather than her own belly. Yuck!

Kyril's wish made Faenna c**k her head slightly. God of destruction... It seemed like an obvious concept, but it still seemed to surprise her that such a thing would exist. Her gaze flicked back over to the figure of Ome Essd with interest. "But you do have a goddess of life and death. Surely she teaches the importance of balancing the two to anyone who follows her path?"

Kyril blinked in surprise at the thoughtful commentary before nodding her head. "That is true but it does not always mean others view her kindly." She offered with a small smile as she picked up another version of Ome Essd. "Some are just too afraid of death while others don't want to balance it. They'd rather bring destruction like those Dretch." She finally admitted, revealing where her thoughts had been wandering. Kyril could only imagine if they had gods even! What type of culture did they even have? The hybrid could only shudder at the thought before putting the figurine back down. "I suppose this is why I just try to live my best life and hope that everyone else is happy with their gods."

The knowledge that people who had no desire for balance even existed was a melancholy thought. Too many seemed to enjoy disrupting the balance. And speaking of... the mention of those foul creatures sent chills along Faenna's back. She might not have been alive during those attacks, but plenty others were, and the stories were passed down with firm warnings. Faenna liked challenges, but that was one challenge she prayed she would never have to face. "I guess it's like anyone being a teacher. There're always a few students who don't listen."

She raised her head and smiled to the hybrid. "I am happy with my goddesses. They are good to me and mine." She looked to the figures again and smiled. "I think I will see if they can make Aisha and Azehra here. Something tells me that at least Aisha would appreciate the melding of earthling work with Aishan faith."

"That's good." Replied Kyril with a smile. "So you would like something to represent both trees?" The mystic paused before glancing over the Aishan thoughtfully. "You know...if there's nothing to interest you here then I have a shop in Oba." The hybrid gave a small shrug of her shoulders as she pondered her offer. "I work with glass and could perhaps create something for you when I'm back in the capital. That is if you'd be interested in something like that." She did enjoy a challenge and creating something for the teen would definitely be interesting, especially since Kyril had so much to learn about the Aishan culture still.

Faenna nodded. She definitely wanted one for each goddess. They were individuals, after all! And perhaps giving the gift to Aisha first would make sure Azehra would be more receptive as well. "In Oba? Glass! Oh, that sounds lovely, too." She smiled brightly and clasped her hands together. "My sister and I are about to travel back home for a while, but I will be coming back for certain. Please, let me know where I will be able to find you when I return." Her grin brightened further. "My name is Faenna."

"You can find me in Sulburi or you can always ask about me in the local village here in Matori. My family has a manor nearby." Replied Kyril as the Aishan seemed interested in her offer. A bit of excitement bloomed in her chest at the idea of a new project. "Maybe we can talk a bit more before you leave so that I can get an idea and begin on the project? That way you have something to look forward to when you return to Matori or Oba." Kyril grinned, "My name is Kyril so just don't forget, okay?"
