Summer was drawing closer and closer and the different villages around Tendaji were beginning to plan their summer festivals. It was a tradition in Tendaji - to celebrate the Gods every year in the summer when spirits were high and food was at its most abundant.
All the races had their own gods to celebrate, whatever those might have been, and every person had their own feelings one way or the other.
[ What did they mean to you? With the summer fast approaching, it must be somewhere (no matter how small) on everyone’s thoughts. And what are your thoughts on the other culture’s gods? ]
Branna enjoyed traveling through different villages. The youngling was always happy to see what type of differences existed between each place that his family traveled through, especially any that involved dancing or music. Today was especially interesting because his family had opted to take a break at a smaller village that was decorated with all sorts of things for some summer festivities. Branna could already hear the music floating from the village square, the melodies honoring the natural spirits of the area while earthlings in brightly decorated clothing danced to the rhythm. It had been enough to drag him out of his comfortable bunk bed that had been build into the side of the covered wagon that his family used to travel from country to country in.
"Teagan!" Branna called out as he slipepd down onto the ground, his azure gaze shining as he looked about for his twin. "Do you want to go into the village?" They were technically old enough to venture into villages as long as their parents weren't too far away but he knew that if anything his mother and father preferred if both of them went together rather than alone. They were in Tale finally and he was curious to see what type of gods the area worshipped, especially in a place that was so open and warm in comparison to the colder mountains of Zena.

Busy digging around in the dirt, Teagan was giggling with delight. Fat purple groundworms were crawling around in a damp patch of earth; at least a couple dozen! Such a sight in Zena only came if you went shopping for bait and the store had a fresh bucket! They were so slimy and wiggly, and the way they curled around her fingers made her giggle.
Hearing her brother, her head popped up with interest and a big smile. She stuffed a handful of the worms into a pocket for later and wiped her hands on her shirt to clear the slime. "Let's go!" she chirped excitedly.

Blinking, Branna just studied his sibling for a moment longer before letting out a quiet sigh. Oh boy. Still, at least she was eager to join him on a trip into the village. His attention was swept away from her once more when he heard the musical melodies drifting from the village. Hopefully no one would care that one of the children entering the festivities was a little bit dirtier than the other. Branna chuckled before gesturing for Teagan to follow him. "Do you think they worship any cool gods for their festivals? I think Papa mentioned they just kind of worship the trees and grasses here..." It was definitely different from the Zenan goddess and the spirits of the mountains he had learned about from his Aunt.

Teagan's mind sprang ahead to the village, already trying to plot out what she wanted to do when they got there. Something to eat, definitely! She had energy to regain after hunting those worms. "Grass?" She cocked her head and looked around. She could vaguely remember their father mentioning the gods here, but she had only been half listening. "It doesn't sound cool," she replied with a shrug. "Oh, unless their gods are made of the grass and trees and stuff! A giant god tree that can walk around and talk? That would be cool."

"You think?" Branna raised a thoughtful brow before shaking his head. "If that's so then could we be walking on their gods right now?" Just think! What if the ground was a god and they were constantly being walked on? His nose wrinkled at the thought as he proceeded into the village. Thankfully whatever gods they had disappeared from his attention as he waved his sister after him towards the center of the village where a lot of people were still dancing. "At least they have fun music?" He quipped happily with a grin towards his sibling.

Eyes widening, Teagan looked down at the ground apprehensively. Brow knitting sharply, she sighed and shook her head. "I don't think anyone would walk on the grass if it was really the gods," she decided. Surely that would make the god cranky!
Head lifting again, she paused to listen for a moment and grinned brightly. "It does sound fun," she agreed, hurrying her step to get to the fun faster. "I bet they have all sorts of songs about their gods. Let's see if they have any worm gods!"

"Unless they really wanted to push their luck, right?" Teased Branna with a smirk. Imagined getting struck down by lightning or something just for walking to another part of the forest! He couldn't even begin to imagine what they would have to do just to survive in that case! "Maybe that's why so many houses are built up into the trees..." He mused jokingly before getting caught up in the music.
"Eeew, worm gods?" Branna made a face towards his sibling. "Why not wind spirits or something? We have mountain spirits in Zena so why not tree spirits even?" Surely they would be cute and decorated with flowers! Worm spirits would just....well wiggle and eat dirt. He could easily see why his sibling would want to believe in them but that definitely wasn't Branna's ideal thing.

Well, he did have a point there. The houses in Tale were pretty much all in the trees... So grass gods but not tree gods? She would prefer tree gods. Of course, Branna's reaction to the worm gods made her laugh with delight. "Papa said there're lots of gods, right? There could be worm gods and wind gods here. There might be tree gods, but would they want people making homes on their heads? Or maybe it's only special trees that would be gods?" She paused at the edge of the village and looked around to find the source of the music they were hearing.

"Well....I suppose so." Branna slowly admitted with a nod. "Papa is usually right about a lot of things." So if their Papa said it then maybe there could be worm gods indeed. What if it was a giant worm? A shiver went down his spine at the very idea. "A giant worm god and moving tree gods. Could you imagine it?" Branna shook his head quickly after he spoke the dreaded words. It was probably best to not imagine such things. Eeeew. Now that he thought about it he just couldn't get the idea of a giant worm god out of his brain. Curse his imagination!
"Let's think more about music gods or something." He finally managed after a moment before peering after his sibling towards the dancing crowd. "I think they have some flutes and drums....it's lovely." Branna smiled at the sight and found himself bobbing his head to the music. It went from light and lively to more dramatic whenever they added in the heavier drums. Almost like a thunderstorm which he adored.

Teagan looked up at the sky and grinned. Her imagination was continuing the path of worm gods and tree gods running around. "I bet there'd be a god for each kind of tree," she mused. "All the shapes and sizes! So cool!" Gods with thick heavy bodies and gods with narrow wispy bodies, prickly hair and long flowing leaves...
Music? "Oh, sound gods! Like thunder gods and drum gods and wind chime gods!" Swaying along with the music as well, she tapped gently at her chin. "What would they look like though? Maybe they don't actually look like anything." She looked over to her brother curiously.

Branna raised a brow. It was like the spirits that some of the older earthlings believed in. "Spirits of nature maybe." He admitted with a small nod towards his sister before brightening up as they transitioned into music. "I think they'd be like wisps of air....like that morning mist we see in the valleys." He admitted with a small grin. "The best way to celebrate them though is to make as much music as possible with dancing." Usually he was more reserved but the sound of the drums had his blood racing and the youngling held out a hand towards his sibling, "What do you think? Should we race down there and dance to celebrate all of sorts of gods with them? Worms included?"

Teagan nodded along. Since sounds didn't seem to have any actual shape, then manifesting as wisps of air did make sense. "I bet it would be colorful fog. Different colors for different things." While reading about the gods could be boring at times, allowing her imagination to stretch and turn around the idea of them was so much fun! She wished she could draw well enough to get the ideas onto paper properly.
At first, she looked at Branna's hand doubtfully. "But we don't.." Would it really be okay to join in on a celebration for gods they didn't believe in? Of course, mention of the worm gods had her attention and she grinned with delight. "I bet they appreciate anyone willing to join in," she guessed, grabbing Branna's hand eagerly. "I wanna play an instrument. Think we can borrow one while we're there?"

"Sure! Blue for really sad songs and yellow for happier ones and the like." Branna actually brightened up at the idea as he imagined what those gods would look like. Ever color surely would hold some sort of meaning and he could even imagine that the romantic ones would be a pink or red hue, depending. Maybe his sibling would think that the topic was icky but Branna enjoyed the deeper songs full of emotion like those. Surely then those colors would be the most complex just like the melodies he had heard before!
"I think so." Branna grinned playfully. "I think as long as we're being nice about it they'll be fine sharing things." The youngling nodded towards his sibling before leading the way down. Maybe they could even snag an instrument later like Teagan suggested. That would be lots of fun! Just as long as there weren't actual worm gods of course!

Would music gods look like the instruments they sound like? What about whistling gods? Would that count? Teagan would ask her brother about everything as they headed for the festival. With his encouragement, she was looking well forward to playing at the festival!
And maybe, just maybe, she would be able to learn about the gods of all things her brother found creepy~
