It wasn’t yet time to meet up with Caledonite again, so the feeling of someone his level made her pause, and for a moment, Dinara even smiled. A little.
Without really thinking, she quickened her step and made her way over to the energy signature who just must be her friend, and paused when she saw that it wasn’t Caledonite at all but…
The smile came back on her face, only it was a little shy this time.
One of Caledonite’s group, Marialite.
She looked...different now. And felt stronger. That was neat...but…
Dinara hesitated, her steps slowing just a little. “Um...Hi! I hope you remember me, but it’s okay if you don’t...I met one of your um. Boyfriends! Caledonite, and he’s really nice! I hope you’ve been well...you feel like he does now...that’s a good thing, right?”
For some strange reason, Dinara felt her cheeks growing warm. That...truly wasn’t necessary, but her mind flickered back to their last meeting and…well. Her cheeks heated up a little more, feet carrying her closer to the new Captain with no real prompting from her brain.

Marialite perked up, spreading her arms wide. "Dinara! It's so good to see you again! I was worried, I thought I might have pushed too far last time and upset you."
She eagerly closed the distance between them, clasping her hand sin front of her. "And you've met Caldeonite, that's so great! He's amazing, isn't he? He and Galaxite helped me so much, even before I corrupted." She sighed, contentedly. "But yes! I got stronger, because Hessonite decided that I had done enoguh and done well, so I could get promoted. Which means Galaxite's the last of us lagging behind." She giggled quietly--it was a point of pride for her to have been promoted ahead of someone who'd been in the Negaverse so much longer, even considering Gala's...circumstances.
"Anyway, how have you been?"

“I’m proud of you…” Dinara gave a shy little smile. “Do...ah. Do you want...I mean. I...I’m really thinking about corrupting too...I think that I want to. I’m just…” She shrugged. “Can we fight? Can you help me get stronger too?” It wasn’t what the page had meant to ask but...but at the same time.
She wanted to be strong like Marialite was.
“I want to be...worthy of you. I mean. I want you to like me. So I want to be strong...if that...um...If that’s okay.”
Holding out her small bottle of glitter, Dinara looked hopeful. “...Also um. I think I kind of have a crush on Caledonite and I hope that...you would want me to corrupt too…”

Marialite blinked, and then she grinned. "Oh, sweetheart, I'd love to help you get stronger!" She said, voice bright.
"But I promise--we're not going to test you." She extended her hand, wrapping it around Dinara's and the bottle of glitter. "You don't have to be perfect or powerful, you just have to be you. But I do have to say--fighting someone is a great way to get to know them, and if you want to be stronger, I want to help you."
She gave Dinara a soft, fond look. "You're a lovely, sweet girl, and I'd like you to be able to defend yourself against the type of people who take advantage of lovely, sweet girls. And I would love it if you decided to corrupt." She giggled, a little. "Seriously, though--Cale's really crushworthy, isn't he? Big and beefy and those arms..." She sighed, the tones of a girl in love. "And Galaxite is just...gorgeous, like. You won't even believe."

For a long moment, Dinara simply stared at Marialite and finally, finally she smiled, feeling suddenly warm and...almost happy. “Oh. Oh well, yeah...I...okay! We can um. Practice and then maybe you can tell me all about Galaxite? I haven’t met him...Cale said that um. Maybe he could get me a meeting with all of you but...um. What if he doesn’t like me? Not...not Cale...um. Do you like me? I mean...ah.”
Oh. Oh God. Why couldn’t she just shut up?
Dinara shook her head and stepped away. “Ah...f-fight first and then all of these um. Questions okay?
That way...maybe if the answers were bad...she could just...pretend she got a head wound and forgot them all...the perfect solution!
She drew her hand back and took a moment to uncork the glitter, biting her lip before just throwing it. No finesse at all...as was her way.

Something in Marialite's chest flipped. Poor Dinara, so scared and nervous, and pushing her would be bad, right now--it would probably just make her panic harder.
"I like you plenty, Dinara," she said, and then she called her knives to her hands twirling them between her fingers. "But let's fight, first," she said, and then she took a breath.
At least Dinara was decisive, opening by throwing her glitter. Marialite wasn't entirely ready for it, she had to admit; she threw a hand up in front of her face to protect herself, and skipped backwards.
"Good," she praised, and she turned on her foot to kick in the direction she was pretty sure Dinara was; it wasn't super well aimed, since she had to shake glitter off her arm, and couldn't really look, but it would still give Dinara something to dodge or defend against.

Dinara had to shut out the kind words...The words that Marialite was saying...that she liked her plenty. Now there were knives in the equation and Dinara stiffened slightly, her brain whirring dully as flight or fight began warring in her head. Knives were dangerous. Sharp. She could die.
...No wonder Caledonite was so bitter about the weapons that Cosmos pages were given…
The foot, the kick surprised her out of her thoughts and Dinara let out a yelp of surprise, pain lancing up her leg from her shin. “Ow!” If she had better shoes...or boots! Boots would make this easy...if she were better equipped for any of this...that would just. That would just be wonderful.
But she wasn’t.
“This is crap Marialite. Cale was right. I’m useless. Cosmos knights are useless...you have knives! How are...how am I supposed to compete with that at all? Now my weapon is all used up…”

Marialite stopped, dismissing her weapons, and moved over to Dinara, reaching out to gently put her hands on her shoulders.
"I know. It's garbage. I used to have a little fancy prism, and that was it. Galaxite had a plant. But that's why we want to make you one of us, yeah? So that you can be stronger and keep yourself safe."
She reached up, gently brushing her thumb over Dinara's cheek. "It's going to be okay. Hey--if you ever get in trouble with another officer, tell them that you're under Captain Marialite's protection, yeah? And if they want to fight you, they can take it up with me, instead."

Dinara gave a pout and drew in a deep, steadying breath. “...Yeah...yeah that’s true. It just. What the hell is the point of this? Is it just a game? Throw us to the wolves with junk against people that have weapons that could gut me? God, if you weren’t my…” She broke off and hesitated, her eyes flickering over Marialite for a moment before her cheeks turned pink.
“...My whatever you are...I could be dead right now! Dead! I…”
She swallowed and nodded at the warning, the promise that Marialite would protect her...it was nice. Knowing that was nice...it made her feel warm.
...Loved.
“...Marialite...Thank you. You...You’re really nice, you know. And beautiful…Just so you know that I think that of you...and um. I’m glad...you like me.” Her cheeks grew even more pink and she buried her face against the Captain. “...I like you a lot.”

Marialite nodded. "I know. It's terrible, what the universe does to us Pages. It's like whatever force empowers us doesn't care if we live or die--I mean, Negaverse Lieutenants get silly little weapons too, Galaxite has a Nerf bow, if you can believe it, but we also have the inbuilt protection of, you know. A General or General-Sovereign that Awakens us. We may not be much on our own, but we have each other."
She wrapped an arm around Dinara's waist, nuzzling at that lovely hair of hers.
"But you're not alone anymore, sweetheart. You have me, and you have Caledonite. You'll have Galaxite once we introduce you to him."
She made quiet little thoughtful noise.
"...Hey, Dinara? Can I kiss you?"

Dinara listened to her friend’s words, relaxing as she was cuddled up to. It felt nice. Being cuddled like this. ANd the thought of inbuilt protection...it sounded nice. Everything sounded nice.
When Marialite’s last words registered, Dinara paused and looked up at the Captain, startled and gaping slightly. “You...me...I…what?”
Her face had gone nearly purple with embarrassment and after a moment, all the page could do was nod. “...Kiss me? You want to...I want to...you’re so pretty I--”
Oh god. Wow she was not emotionally or mentally prepared for this but...she wanted...so badly. “You can do...you can do anything you want to me.” Dinara murmured without thinking, half wanting to feel that strange intimacy of a hand in her chest again. Marialite had...it hadn’t felt bad. And she trusted this Captain. Just like she trusted Cale.
None of them would ever hurt her.

Marialite waited, but she kept her arm around Dinara, since she seemed fairly content with it.
"I do want to," she said, gently, but that was all, because she wanted ot give Dinara time to decide, and not make her feel pressured. That would hardly be fair or kind, when the girl was so sweet.
Still, when she had permission, she didn't hesitate--she reached up her other hand, cupping Dinara's cheek, and pressed their lips together in a soft but lingering kiss.

Dinara felt her heart increase its pace and she leaned into the hand on her cheek, relaxing against it. The kiss was sweet...tender and wonderful...she...could very much get used to this.
Hesitating for a moment, she tugged the hand from her cheek and moved it down to her chest. To right over her starseed. “...tell me if it’s beautiful...please?”
It was dangerous. It was painful. But she didn’t care. She wanted the pain...it...she wanted it. Along with the kiss...the very idea made her dizzy, and Dinara pressed her lips against Marialite’s once again, wanting. Just…wanting.
She could have this...every day. No...she would have this every day...just as soon as she got her act together...and she would enjoy it ever so much...

Marialite made a soft, contented noise, leaning into the kiss and holding Dinara against her. Oh, yes, this was....this was nice.
When Dinara moved her hand down to her chest, Marialite made a contented noise. "I'm sure it is. Just like you are." As Dinara kissed her again, she let her hand sink into the other woman's chest, fingers wrapping around the star at her core. She gave it a small squeeze, and then tightened her grip around Dinara's waist as she extracted the starseed.
The gem in her hand was beautiful. It was a sort of pinkish-purple, with a hunt of blue; soft colors, sort of melancholy.
Like Dinara.
She put her hand and the starseed back in, reverently and gently, and left it there for a moment as she waited for Dinara to come back to herself.

Dinara hadn’t meant to make any sound, but when she felt the hand slipping into her chest, she gave a almost contented noise and tried to deepen the kiss, fighting the sudden weakness that threatened to overtake her. She didn’t want to pass out...dind’t want to miss this. Maybe…
The page forced her eyes open, trying to see the starseed, wanting very much to see the gem, and she did, for a half moment, before her vision went gray and she half swooned against Marialite, biting the woman’s lip by mistake, working so hard to stay upright.
When the starseed was put back in, she drew in a shaking breath, gripping the Captain tightly and slowly blinked, breaking away from the kiss and looking at her blearily. “...Wow…Was...was it nice?”
Truth be told, Dinara wasn’t quite sure she was only talking about the starseed.
